Madden 10 Video Blowout #3

Continuing with the series of HD quality videos from Madden 10 this set focuses on franchise mode, in particular the halftime and Extra Point franchise shows. I’ve really enjoyed these even though they are somewhat lacking. There certainly is the base for something special here. I’ve found that I sit through all the highlights which is something I’ve never done before. I’ll talk more about them in detail in my full impressions.

I’ve decided to hold the online play videos until I put up my online impressions later this week. Full impressions of the game will come Monday afternoon. Continue on to check out a few of the franchise videos and leave your thoughts in the comments!

Yeah that was an error I noticed too. Final score was actually 31-28 with the Chargers having scored 21 in the 2nd (not 20)

Thanks Pasta! I have to agree with the gallery of comments, the Extra Point is okay. A good start, but honestly I think we all expected more. 2K5 would show highlights from other games, making it feel more like a half time or post game show. Also the commentary is just bad. But hey, it's a great improvement over last season and a nice touch. Can't wait until Friday. Also I'm not the same Joe who wrote that message above…sorry people are like that Pasta.

Oh my gosh when will you and everybody else get off of 2K5's jock? That game had horrible play mechanics and you all know that. All it had was presentation but what is presentation without gameplay? It's like a beatup Pinto with a nice stereo system. Get over 2K5 and if you can't stay with you lame xbox at least that was more reliable than that 360 BS they have out now

Glad to see you really do read people's comments. I'm wasn't a fan of 2K5, because yes the gameplay was horrible. But, Madden 10's hype has been built around the PRESENTATION! That's all Ian Cummings and those guys over at EA talked about since the Super Bowl. So when I see something like the Extra Point I think, wow good idea but they could have done more. Don't jump on me thinking I am a 2K5 junkie. Read and think before you comment. Idiot.

2K5 had many things outside of the gameplay that were nice. Obviously, the SportsCenter halftime and postgame shows were incredible.

Also, the Crib was awesome with pretty nice unlockables.

I like what EA has done without coming off trying to "copy" what 2K did in regards to presentation. I hope that EA adds in-game scores from around the league at some point. Still boggles my mind that EA did this on the Genesis version but not on any of the current / next-gen versions…..

I've said it before, but I'm just not too impressed with these half time shows. I'm glad to see EA give us a half time show to help with the overall football presentation, but the silent highlights are weird. I'm afraid most gamers will just skip through this after the first few times, as the dialogue is rather canned.

It's better than nothing, but (and I'm not one of those NFL 2K5 guys) the previously posted youtube link to that old halftime show puts this to shame. And that was 5 years ago.

Nothing will ever beat 2K5. Your just mad that Madden's isn't that great. The halftime show is weak…the highlights are silent and it sound like old Sports Talk baseball for sega when the lady is talking about the stats. You can hear the computer thinking. First "say RB name", next "say he ran over X yards". It's like they're using programs from the 90's. Madden's is lame just get over it.

This is the first time I've ever mentioned NFL 2K5, so "letting it go" isn't really much of your concern. But truthfully, I appreciate the effort 2K sports put into that title, and it's halftime show.

This game looks good but I can't believe how bad the V/O work by Fran Charles and Alex Flanagan sounds. It's so choppy it's laughable. I guess the V/O work in MLB 09 really spoiled me.

Nice video's Pasta. I agree with others that say this is a step in the right direction…but that has been the critique for the past couple of years. Some of the commentary makes me cringe, especially from Flanagan. Again, haven't owned or played 2K5 so I'm no fanboy, but when I saw this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9O6jKorLRo the Madden10 halftime show pales in comparison. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay in this game looks great and the graphics have been bumped up, but the commentary is what finalizes the immersion of actually playing "on sunday," and this for me doesn't cut it.
