Madden NFL 10 Coverage Wrap-Up

Why is Robbie Gould the kicker, playing RG for the Bears.

Didn't buy it. Too many bad impressions and complaints. I was tempted though. It seems like the game has too many flaws to make it a must buy.

Finally I can put 2k5 in my trophy case. Th glitches are minor problems, I think the new stuff will take a minute to get use 2, but where it counts; the gameplay is on point. Out the box, I jumped right into "elite status" lost by 3 in overtime, but I had a blast!

I love the game. Its the first Madden iv bought since Madden 05 and im thrilled they finally made a good game. I was afraid they were gonna go the route of the NCAA team and just keep rehashing the same damn game. Madden 10 is fantastic, hands down.

Just finished playing a solid two hours of Madden, and I have to say…not impressed. This is disappointing because I was really looking forward to playing offline franchise, which is something I haven't been able to do for several years now for one reason or another. The game has made some nice improvements, but CPU AI on defense is still terrible even on the hardest setting and sliders handicapped in their favor. CPU still can't recognize constant plays being called against them and the LB man coverage is a joke on the RB out of the backfield. I quick pass to the RB towards the sidelines still yields a wide open RB with the LB totally out of position to make a play on the ball or immediate tackle.

Many of you may not even know what I'm talking about, but basically the CPU is not very challenging and that makes the game boring to play offline. I found some very stupid things about online play. I won't get into all because I'm tired and running out of space, but the biggest thing that comes to mind is the game speed online. They base their whole game theme off of slowing the game down to make it more realistic and turn around and speed the game up with no option to change the game speed. Thats just typical EA bs. I'm going to explore a little more tomorrow, but I've just about had it with this game

What ive noticed is that taking kickoffs back for TDs is like ridiculously easy

ive taken 5 back online in 4 games
but 2 were called back on holding

it also seems to help alot if your returner isnt too fast

johnson cant do anything but ive done 5 tds with finnegan

it's basically the same game the last five years. Defense sucks this year. linebackers with good position will just stand there and watch the receivers catch the ball.

I just got it and I'm having a great time with it. Maybe because I just killed some guy 45-15 but I think I'd still be having the same fun it was the other way around. Graphics are nice, and I absolutely love the new game speed….that might be the best thing they've done this year to the gameplay.

Pro-Tak is also really fun when you get a fair amount of players involved. One time I thought the ref blew whistle too early but I took another look on the replay and you could clearly see the other team getting pushed back so it was a good call. Also about gameplay: the running game was pretty effective – even when I was using Sammy Morris, and I thought the pass rush seemed to work well too.

My only problems are the fact that Tom Hammond is probably the worst announcer in Madden history (not counting the radio guy) although Collinsworth still keeps me from shutting off the the commentary completely. And there's a new play clock system that speeds it up down to about 12 seconds…15 or 16 would be better.

I haven't explored everything in the game yet so I'm sure there are a couple more negatives, but nothing that's going to ruin everything great about this game. If anyone's still on the fence about it, get off and go buy it!

so far im lovin this game! well its more realistic than before.. to be able to put pressure on QB u have to bring the house but there is also a big chance of ur D gettin beat! overall or i mean so far.. its good for me..

By far this is the best madden for the next-gen consoles. the graphics are really phenomenal and the same goes for presentation. as for the gameplay there alot of positives that outweight the minor hiccups. i think the slow game speed is going to be a great addition once i get used to it, i can already see things happining before i decide to make a play. PRO-TAK is absoulutly amazing. it just works so well and it dosent have that gimicky feel like fight for the fumble does. im playing on all pro just to get a feel for the game but it seems every time i run the ball the defense know im going to and and stuff the run. theres no sideline catches and sometimes you cant rewind your whole replay for some reason. nor progressive lighting or player lock which is a bummer seeing how NCAA 10 have it.

Now for the franchise part of it: i think the new hub is a nice new sleek add. it outs everthing right there at your fingertips instead of scorlling through a thousnad menus. i love the new scouting system i think it is 10X better than the past couple of years you actuallt know what your getting in certain years. i have only plyed 3 games in the mode so far so i dont know what the off season brings but im really curious to see how draft day goes along with free agency, they suppodslty fixed the free agency so even know you offer hime the most money a better team with more playing time offering less money might be more his style so he me take the ladder of the two which is a good sign lets just hope it works.

Well of course not everyone loves the final product. In my opinion, Madden 10 is a much improved game over last year, but then again a dog with a football in it's mouth is a better game than Madden 09 (am I right Mike Vick? Too soon?) Anyway, gameplay is better making the game more of a challenge in most areas. Sure there are annoying glitches which the Madden team may or may not fix in the next coming months (Patches please!) Overall I love it and want to actually play games not just sim through whole seasons. I'm looking for forward to an offseason in Franchise mode and of course the 1 billion roster updates that start on Wednesday. The season has officially started Pasta. Now on to the war between Live and 2K.

I brought my beast of a ss up from NCAA and I’m not enjoying superstar mode. It seems the framerate suffers bigtime anytime there is a pile up and this mode just doesn’t play near as smooth as NCAA. I love the slowed down gameplay, but it just seems like they took stuff out of this mode this year. No combines no interviews and it plays very choppy. Another big issue is the game has locked up on me twice. Once from the disc so I installed it and then it locked up again. Very buggy from my experience.

How in the world are we able to access roster updates? I didn't see an option for it….

The game is the best Madden in years. Still some annoyances but overall it is solid. Hoping EA fixes some of the little things with a patch as well as including more classic uniforms and stadiums.

Why is Chris Clemons not in the game after the roster update? He is going to be a big contributer to the Eagles pass rush and he was removed from the game.

i think the slow gameplay sucks its not realistic at all. the running animations mess everything up for me. i just dont understand how you can make a game the is 80 percent running and the animations be this trash. it looks like robots are running down the feild. why can they just get a player hooked up to the motion sensors and actually mimic what its like for a player to really run. bullshit!!!! the old genereation maddens gameplay was way better…. am i really the only person that noticed this????!!!!!!!

awareness and ratings mean nothing in madden. had a linebacker covering my slot receiver. the linebacker running in front of my receiver with his head not even turned around automatically breaks on the route that my receiver is running. either he's psychic or has 101 awareness rating.

I like the fact that i dont have to trade for early round draft picks since its all random now. Best part is that i drafted someone on the 6th round and his overall was 85. Really satisfying considering the fact that i didnt have to whore the early round draft picks.

Anyone missing Michael Gaines from there roster? For some reason he is 3rd string TE for the Bears. This spot should be filled by Kellen Davis but instead he is M.I.A

Wow, Im out of the loop on my own team apparently. Michael Gaines does indeed play for the Bears. He is 4th on the depth chart as a TE behind Kellen Davis who apparently didnt make the Madden cut? Does anyone know how to contact EA to make them aware of this? Thanx Pasta for letting me vent on your site.

Again with the fucking fumbles?!?! really? I thought we left that back in 07. These guys at EA are idiots. I don't care that they're computer nerds and know more about programming than I do, they're freak'n morons. How the hell can they have the audacity to say that this is everything you see on Sundays? Are they talking about hand towels? visors? referees? field goal nets? if so, then yes, it is what you see on Sundays, but as far as the action on the field is concerned, excuse me as I ROTFL. This game is a joke. Not to mention a bag of lies.

What happened to fight for the fumble happening maaaaybe once a game? What a crock; it happens about 10 times a game with 7 min quarters. Of course that could also be because there's a fumble every 5 plays. I think I see teams being able to challenge calls on Sundays, so why can't I do it in Madden? So now what, we have to wait another month until these jerk offs decide to drop a patch on so many blatant f-ups? Man….NBA 2k10 can't come soon enough.

i tried running a hb dive to run out the clock but i got stuck behind my O line where i wasnt getting tackled and i kept ''jogging in place'' while holding the protect ball button AND I GOT CALLED FOR HOLDING!

that put me out of field goal range and i lost by 1 point…WTF

Love the game and i'm a fan of all the new elements. After all of the hard work that Ian and his crew did I cannot believe that throwing to the RB's out of the backfield is so easy. For example there is a play called "X-Curl" and it works every single time. I had McNabb complete 35 consecutive passes in a row to Westbrook. And this was on all madden too! I pray that somehow this gets fixed in the next patch.

Please try this and get the word out to get this fixed.
