NBA 2K10 My Player Mode Detailed

2K Sports has posted up a blog posting detailing the My Player career mode that arrives with NBA 2K10. The article details areas such as player creation, camp, D-League, day-to-day action in the NBA, and online pickup games. The release of Draft Combine in the early AM hours tomorrow for the 360 and next week for the PS3 will offer a jump start to the mode. You can read it in full here.

NBA is a Team Sport. Piggybacking off of the Authenticity point, we felt that emphasizing team play over ‘me first’ play was very important in our design. Players who try to overly-dominate the ball and/or otherwise play in a fashion that is detrimental to the overall success of their team will not reap the rewards this mode has to offer. On the other hand, those who respect their teammates, set picks on offense, box out for rebounds, double team when called for, will earn a much larger amount of Skill Points in addition to better grabbing the attention of the NBA scouts who are looking to fill their teams.

Though it lacks in a few areas such as trades I like the sound of the mode especially due to the challenge of working your way up. It might be nice to have an option of playing through the mode as a high profile talent out of college, but if given a choice between the two directions I would prefer it the way they have it set up. I also dig the online component with the pickup games and how that will be configured but that will be dependent on whether online runs properly this year. Career modes have been hit or miss in other titles but I’ve always felt it would be a natural fit for an NBA game so it’ll be interesting to see how enjoyable My Player turns out to be.

I'm having the same problem. I went to "Play Game" and then, "play Next game" 10 seperate times. After that, you will be able to play the "Skills" mode. All I'm doing is building my points but it's not letting me advance to the next season. I didn't win the championship, though. My player wasn't good enough to score a vast amount of points against Cleveland. My email is rgibbs205@hotmail.com

I guess if they are not interested enough to sign you to a 10 day contract you need to wait until end of season for a training camp invite.

i got a major problem for some reason i cant get back into the league when i was overall 52 i got a 10 day contract with the hornets an now im stuck in the NBDL my player is overall 82 now an i still cant get in the NBA!!!!!! an how do i get my potential to go up???!!!

^same problem here…..i got cut in training camp and i played in the d-league 1 season…i raised to 72 overall,and i was surprised i didn't get a contract in the offseason…i thought maybe it had to do with the stats:14 ppg 7.9 reb 1.4 blk 58% FG 60% FT….so I played another season ….at the end ,i was at 78 overall,but this time with 26 ppg 8.5 reb 1.8 bpg 63%FG and 92% FT …still no contract…I played 104 d-league games,i didn't get called even once,can somebody help me with an advice how to get there?

hey does anyone know how to change the quarter length in my player mode?… cos right now i have 5 min quarters and my team and my opponents are scoring mid fourties to high seventies while games going on 'elsewhere', eg. simulated between computer teams are reaching regular NBA scores of mid 70's to 130… help would be much appreciated

if your in a D league, just start over. In order to get drafted to an NBA team, you must get an A- or better every game. My question is I won an NBA title, but now it will not allow me to go into my next season. Can anybody help?

In order to increase minutes of playing time in my player mode…you have to buy the nba 2k10 draft as-on online….thats the only way i was able to increase minutes

i have a hacked player with all 99, but im on the d-league and there not señals of the nba, my manager says that i have been fired from the team but he has talk with the dg and i have new contrat, its very strange because im the best player of the team, always the jordan player, a+, and i have played 30 games with this team of the d-league, i read that the mayority have a contrat for 10 games with a nba team, please somene to help me, thanks

after i completed my first season the disc froze. i turn my xbox off then back on and went to continue in my player mode. except i cant do anything. i cant continue or nothin. i can't play any games go to any screens, please help if i am forgetting to do something
