EA Sports has released a new video for NBA Live 10 this time featuring some of the advancements that have been made to gameplay. Included in the discussion and with examples displayed in the video are the new passing control options, off-ball play, and different styles of shooting. Live and 2k both have fanbases that will buy the game. Live has to show their hand this year to somehow persuade 2k only buyers to pick up Live as well. People that buy both will probably do so. First week sales will probably tell the tale.
Also 2k hasnt dropped a video yet, theyre probably waiting til after Live shows all their cards, or are waiting til closer to release and then drop vids to build anticipation. So far previews for both show a lot has imporved in both games.

While I used to play Live, I def see improvements. Is it enough to sway me to purchase Live over 2k as of yet… probably not. My Player/Draft Combine mode is so sick, I dont get the people that are knocking it. Its basically teaching people to play sim or get punished for being a stat stuffer non team player. I have always wanted the D-League and Summer leagues which 2k has, which is why its a 1st day purchase for me. I will def checkout Live thur demo/rental, but I only have time for 1 game. 1 game has what I want, the other doesn't. Should be a good year for NBA games though.

I think Live has shown improvement, the players look fuller but i still dont understand how people continue to ignore the fact that the players still look cartoonish and still move like robots. To me i'm quickly turned off when i see that. I remember last year hearing people say live will be better or will show improvement and i actually believed it from seeing screenshots or gameplay footage but i feel a feeling this year will be no different and it still wont live up to the hype. The players still hunch over when they dribble and the movement or animations when it comes to dunks, dribbles, layups, etc. still dont look that fluid.

I wasn't too happy with 2K last year and felt it didnt live up to the hype but i still feel it was the better came by miles. I guess we'll see come release but I say Live has about a 2% chance of being better than 2k. As a developer you dont jump from trash to greatness in one year, it takes steps and until they revamp the player models, i dont see that changing.

Can't we all just agree it's going to be a great year for basketball games? I mean if you really don't see that Lives improving then your clearlyl blind.

For me, I'm getting 2k10 and using my free rental at blockbuster to get Live and try it out for a week. It's just personal preference (I'm deff not a 2k fanboy). I mean it comes down to preference, just because someone doesn't prefer the same game as you doesn't mean they don't enjoy basketball.

Being completely honest, What exactly is 2k bringing to the table to make you want to buy this game. Having played both franchises, it seems to me that 2k is great, but they just keep bringing out the same thing each year, where as the Live series is making making huge strides each year. 2k may be the more authentic of the two but if you already own 2k9, then why pay 60$ for a roster update.

2K brings CONSISTANT gameplay. For the last 5 years or so Live was trying to reinvent the wheel every year. They take something out to replace it a year or two later. Drop a mode here, add this etc. All the while not working on core gameplay. Heck Live didnt even have basic rules down like over the back, or 3 secs in the key. Heck this year they dont even have tip back dunks. They add fluff like the Hanger? While the hanger was cool in the Nike commercial, what does a airplane hanger have to do with NBA basketball? Are Lebron, Kobe and the others joining the Air Force? Are they going to see Guile from Street Fighter, cause he hangs around a Hanger too?
Like I said Live looks to be improving, so atleast youll have something to enjoy. Live just need to stop adding gimmicky things, and fix teh basic gameplay, and try to win fans back.

meanwhile 2k ported the ps2 version 100 percent with every single damn feature and 2k6 got like an 8.5 rating, while live 06 had a rating of 5.9. (both IGN reviews).

then they basically fooled everyone by adding a feature back into 07, then another into 08, and 09 and now nba live 10 is like what live 06 should have been.

This was also a similar development cycle for Madden. Madden 06 was completely stripped down for the 360 back in 2005 and then they added things like field goal nets in 09 and called them features and added refs in 2010 and called them feaures? Had EA just ported both games from ps2 versions and updated the graphics back in 2005, we would all have amazing games.

Well I am a 2k fanboy, I love the nba 2k serie, it was a love for the first sight 4 years ago. I remember, after many years of LIVE, I did not believe to my eyes, nba 2k6 was like a dream come true. It was not perfect, but comparing LIVE it was perfect.

And I hate EA. Their marketing tricks, the scandals, their milking-cow philosophy, their 'no pc, coz its piracy' thinking, worthless expansions for full price, they never admit their failures, Moore and Ricci the 2 bastards.

I don't hate EA. its just that these stupid marketing schemes of theirs are getting old. they need to just shut up and let the product speak for itself like 2k does with a lot of its games. Ex. GTA IV, all nba 2k games, bioshock. the list goes on and on!
