NBA Games Just One Month Away

It is now just four weeks until the release of NBA Live 10 and NBA 2K10. Both continue to hold back full details of features presumably to be revealed over the coming weeks however enough has been released to build expectations. This should be a very interesting month as both games are offering their own advantages and going toe-to-toe to win over consumers.

NBA Live 10: A bunch of videos displaying improvements, numerous blogs detailing them, and actual gameplay footage has been distributed. Gameplay enhancements and authenticity rather than gimmicks or new features is the concentration this year. The demo is due out this Thursday for the 360 and the 17th for the PS3.

NBA 2K10: While there has been absolutely no gameplay footage to speak of for NBA 2K10 the Draft Combine provides a good base of what to expect. The main focus this year appears to be on the new My Player career mode which the Combine ties into. There have also been a few blogs about the My Player mode and audio improvements. No word on when the demo will release but indications on there will still be one despite not bothering with a demo for NHL 2K10.

I usually get both but this year NBA Live is my clear choice hands down for everything i'm looking for between the two. even though there is great competition EA and 2Ksports, this here is a non-debate. I think both EA and 2k have some talented devs on each team. The difference between the two is 2k is more in-tune with their audience than EA. It all started years ago and continues today, and that's the playermodels. 2k player models simply look like NBA players, live models look unnatural and still move unnatural even in their latest vids. You can't have a nice looking tomahawk jam that was preceded by a weird dribble animation right before the dunk. The whole sequence needs to look good and thats where 2k come into play. 2k seems to recognize what a basketball player looks like and their player models reflect that, while EA still struggles to know what a basketball player looks like. Basketball players don't look like cartoon characters with hunch backs. Being a basketball player myself I have noticed this right away every since the next gen basketball titles begin. I think people that think live player models are not a big deal are people who doesn't really play the sport so therefore they to perhaps don't know what a basketball player looks like.

If you look at both of these screens shots you can see in the Nba 2k07 screen, Iverson's body type http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/… might be a touch too thick but not as far off as the nba live07 screen of Alderidge which has pinocchio legs http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article… . I would say 2k from the get go had a better balance than nba live. Great to see how great both games have come along though. The 2k iverson face was jacked up though HAHAHAHA
