Madden 10 Roster Update #6 Details

by
Posted October 9th, 2009 at 8:53 am

The sixth roster update for Madden 10 was released earlier this morning. It includes the trade of Braylon Edwards to the Jets and the re-introduction of Michael Crabtree to the 49ers after his signing earlier this week. Edwards lost a point and is now an 84 and Crabtree has shifted downwards but not nearly as much as I would’ve expected. He is now an 82 overall.

Other changes of note include a significant boost to Giants WR Steve Smith as he goes from an 81 to an 87. Darrelle Revis has moved up even more as he is now a 96. Brett Favre has jumped to an 85, Elvis Dumervil gains two points to an 83, and Terrell Owens loses two and is now an 88.

Continue on to view the full list of changes and leave your thoughts in the comments!

I hate when ppl say that Dumervil needs a update….He is a 99OVR if you use him correctly and put him in at DE…of course he is an 83OVR at LB he gets most of his sacks when hes on the line which is on passing downs

dont understand why the madden community hates the steelers. Ben is what third in passing, yet he gets downed again. The Steelers offensive line all took a hit last week, and one of them got some of his points back. gee thanks. I saw some big holes against the chargers, I could have got at least fifty yards running through them myself. Im 36 and a smoker. I guess if the team does good as a whole, but loses the game take points away. Both steeler losses were special teams, and prevent defense related.

    • Randy Z

Nice comment, I agree coach……Update the line there pretty good right now. The sack they do give up is because Ben trying to make plays and holding the ball longer than the average QB. Oh yeah so Steve smith is now just as good as Hines Ward and Santonio. Give me a break. This is silly stuff. They jumped the gun with smith and are sleepin on some guys. You guys may need more help with these updates. I see some gaping holes……ahahahah

    WARNING: pretty long rant coming!!

WHAT ABOUT THE FREAKIN FLATS. I am sick of knowing that it is coming knowing who it is going to going putting a man in zone flats and putting a man on the running back, then keying in on the running back and still… STILL!! 90% of the time noone is out there to stop him from catching the ball; or someone is out there and they WATCH him catch the ball and then back off and let him get 5 or 6 yards. this is ridiculous. NOW, I know that you can manually cover the flats, but all they have to do is come out in a two back set and send both to the flats. besides if I call a cover 2 or a flats zone I shouldn't have to cover the flats manually with someone else 90% of the time.

wow you are an idiot who wants to play some one who admits they use the flats glitch? you are the queer everyone who are true football fans avoid. All it means is u truly suck and HAVE to cheat to win. DO YOU INJECT YOUR STEREROIDS BEFORE THE GAME TOO!!!

  • dose of REALITY

NOW I must admit this is the least scrub-friendly Madden to ever come out. But I can't possibly be the only person that has a problem with this BS. This is the final MAJOR hurdle to making scrubs actually learn football strategy to win games instead of learning all the cheats and exploits and pretending to be good at the game. 08 and 09 it was rocket catches and QB walks that they simply ignored for the entire year and now this.

I can tell that the Madden people read this forum because some of the roster updates reflect that. And I'm not going to do something as meaningless as threaten to stop buying the game' because I can't stop buying the game (I love playing Madden). I will just ask you to at least think about people like me the hardcore faithful who buy the game year in and year out who spend the first month mastering the game only to have some exploit come out the next week and spend the rest of the year hoping you don't get quick-matched with a cheater/cheesers or only playing people on their friends list. I have NEVER cheated or used an exploit to win a game of Madden (my gamer tag on Xbox LIVE is YoMommaNem) you can check. You've pandered to the scrubs for LONG ENOUGH by allowing "certain" exploits to remain in the game so that they can argue about how "good" they are; and continue to by the game. I have suffered through this for long enough. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

IF ANYONE ON THIS FORUM AGREES WITH ME PLEASE SAY SO IN A REPLY TO THIS POST.

    • 5150

are you guys kidding me??? throws to the flats are easy 2 stop. i know 90% of online gamers are pussies and dont throw more than 10 yards downfield. just jump the route with ur corner

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=727953133 Brian Simpson

maybe you didn't read the whole post. but you can only control 1 player at a time so if a team like the charges with 2 fast backs comes out in a 2 back set and sends the backs to opposite sides of the feild there is nothing you can do to stop it.

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Mo_Diddley Mo_Diddley

You got a point the flats are hard to stop. Most people will leave their corners in zone to stop the flats but that just opens up a WR running down the sideline. You should be able to have a LB stay with a RB who runs a flat route. If you try to cover the RB with the MLB it's over as it's like a matchup between Usain Bolt and and some Joe off the street. The point is that you shouldn't have to play zone defense or control a LB manually just to stop a RB coming out of the flats. When have you ever seen a game where the RB coming out of the flats couldn't be stopped?

      • ochouno

idk y… but i dominate when ppl throw 2 the flats the whole game, u just have 2 figure out how 2 stop it… i agree its hard but its possible i do it and i dont have 2 control it manually

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=727953133 Brian Simpson

you are totally right you shouldn't have to play a zone to stop a back out of the flats. but the sad thing is even if you do; even if you are playing conver 2 the corner will not guard the back until he has caught the ball and picked up 5 yards unless you do it manually

    • chris

I couldnt agree more. It sucks when you gotta research the glitches instead of the playbook to beat some of the hacks, and glitchers.I prefer to out play someone. by outsmarting them on the offense and defensive side of the ball.

      • Rude Boy

Its definitely a challenge & needs to be fixed but I suggest you run dime zone blitz which sends a safety to the flats @ the same time blitzes a corner its not 100 but it gets the job done

  • FromDatBoot

The Saints still need some adjustments with Pierre Thomas,… and I think the backup D-Line needs a boosting have to check on the secondary's speed and the linebackers should be better…

IF ANYONE ON THIS FORUM AGREES WITH ME PLEASE SAY SO IN A REPLY TO THIS POST.

are you guys kidding me??? throws to the flats are easy 2 stop. i know 90% of online gamers are pussies and dont throw more than 10 yards downfield. just jump the route with ur corner

Ok, this is going to be my last comment regarding this. After this I will just write a lettter to EA. lol Please pass this along or comment. Personally, I love certain aspects of the roster updates. In particular the transactions (because many don't get mentioned and fans of the game have no idea that a 3rd string TE was cut or signed), injury updates, and most of the ratings increases. However, it is my personal opinion that throughout the course of the season a player/team is going to have it's ups and downs. Steve Smith might have gotten off to a hot start, but by no means is he better than a T.O, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, etc. (not that anyone said he was). Now if next week he drops three passes and only catches 2 for like 15 yards are we gonna then slam him back down to an 80??? All Im saying is give it a little while longer before we launch somebody to an elite status or downgrade someone from superstardom to average. That kind of change just does not happen in the real life NFL so it should not in Madden either.

    • soo

uh well steve smith is not rated higher than the carolina steve smith or ftiz or TO( yet).. so what are you saying.. and TO has done nothing so why not drop him

      • nphillyk

Because T.O doesn't have 900+ career receptions for no reason. A four game slump (With the BILLS) is not that big of a deal to a guy that has consistently produced for the last 14 seasons. Give me a break, Bills OLine have given up the most sacks in the league so Edwards doesnt even have time to throw the ball downfield. I guess Lee Evans should take a drop as well, oh but wait he hasnt. And I know S. Smith is not rated higher then they are but at this pace he will be week 8. GTFOH

No but steve smith (NYG) is rated higher than d jackson (phi) and thats not remotely close to the truth.

      i agree 100%
just cuz someone gets hot for a couple games dosnt make them better than the elite players.

And its not like T.O. can throw the ball to himself so when the offense is suffering his stats will suffer to. that dosnt make him any worse of a player than he is

    • blondeviking64

I totally agree. No one rates players on a one week basis. And coaches dont rate players on stats either. I have been championing the quartely ratings changes with weekly injury and roster updates (so and so signed, so and so traded, etc). It really takes three seasons to become elite. The body of work over one season isnt a fluke, but doesnt qualify you for the HoF either. I think 90 rated players should be that quality of player. That doesnt mean when Chis Berman says he has similar stats to a HOF he should be rated that way (chris Berman is a salesman and he sells sports through sensationalism like all commentators do). I know this isnt popular becuase half of the 90s in the game would go down, but I think it would be more like real football and less like well, a video game. Isnt that the goal?

Why did they drop Newman? I guess shutting down the likes of Steve Smith 1 and 2, and winning a game with a pick 6, and shutting out Marshall except that one freak of nature play, He was in perfect position to pick it, Marshall made an awesome grab. Dont cut ratings for that.

    • 5150

all the dallas DBs should have got major downgrades they cant cover or tackle

      • ochouno

he got burned in every game but the carolina game and he went up after that 1 good game

TRUE STORY flats are unstoppable and idk y. ea seems to think that if u have 98 speed u can run any route at 98 speed. route running isnt always about how sharp u cut. ur cuts have to be on time with the qb. a terrible route runner running a post should either cut to early or cut to late

The passes to the flats do suck big time. Honestly, that's the only thing that really irritates me about this game right now. It should have been addressed on the last patch but HOPEFULLY they will fix it on the next one. If not, I guess we're screwed for another year.

so by that statement you are saying that everytime a wideout gets shut down by a cornerback then he should go down?…. well if that is the case then I think every single jets wideout needs a drop because if I remember right, you only scored 10 points!!!!

Shutting down Steve Smith from the Giants? What game did you watch cause last time I checked putting up 10 plus catches and over 100 plus yards isnt shutting anyone down. Oh and Mario Manningham had an even better game than Smith.

No meaning he had a bad game with 1 or 2 drops against an elite corner aka hes not an elite reciever.

100% correct. Gore got those 2 lucky runs when the seahawks didnt even try to tackle him…he is overrated
now westbrook is the same as McCoy

  • yeah

and not to mention if he had done his job and shut marshall down there wouldnt have been that catch and run.. the whole dallas def should get decreased for letting hiim run circles for the game winning TD

    • blondeviking64

No one should go up or down over one play.
