Week Six Ratings Change Suggestions

Now that six weeks are in the books the undefeated teams have established themselves as legitimate contenders and may be deserving of some more attention in the ratings. The Saints, Colts, Broncos, and Saints have all proven they are for real. On the other end of the spectrum there are teams like the Titans, Redskins, Bucs, and Rams who should take a hit in their ratings based on their performance this season.

Looking at specific players maybe it was premature to slide Tom Brady down to a 96. He shredded the Titans and broke a record in the process throwing for five TDs in a single quarter. Brett Favre has undeniably been great this season and probably will move up from the 85 he currently has. Elvis Dumervil added another two sacks and a forced fumble and should go higher than the 83 he has now. Mark Sanchez may just be an 81 but after the last three weeks he should drop some. In the three straight losses he has thrown just one TD while being picked off eight times. The Titans threw for negative yardage against the Patriots so Kerry Collins and Vince Young are probably still overrated at 74 and 71 respectively.

This update should also see some injury movement with Antwan Odom and Kris Jenkins out for the season and Lofa Tatupu out for at least an extended period of time. As always leave your thoughts in the comments on what players are deserving of either a boost or a drop in the ratings in the upcoming roster update.

The whole Denver Teams needs a boost no starters on either side of the ball should be less than an 80. The defense deserves speed, awareness, and stamina boosts. The whole secondary needs press, man, and zone increases. And Marshall should be rated as high as the other elite wr's he's proved that he is.

Jones-Drew doesn't deserve to have his ratings drop.

He has only had three good games… but here's what you have to understand: in those other three games the Jaguars have played in so far, the score was at one point or another +/- 28 points. In the Titans game the Jags were up so much Maurice just rode the bench along with other key starters. In the Arizona game the team was down by as much as 28. And in the game against Seattle, the team lost 41-0. Why would you drop Maurice's ratings based on those three games, when he never got an opportunity to carry the ball because of the extremely lopsided scores? Judge him by the games where he gets the football, not by the games where he doesn't.

Not only does he have those three games where he didn't get a chance to even run because of the score, but those games also hurt his YPC more than they should. This is because when you are up or down by such extreme amounts of points, the only time MJD is going to be called on is to kill the clock, score a touchdown or get a short-yardage conversion. These are all great things for your football team, but when you're only getting 7 carries and half of them are 2 yard first downs or 1 yard touchdowns or clock killers, then your ypc will suffer greatly.

In the 11 games in his career that MJD has carried the ball 19+ times, he averages 5 yards a carry and a TD per game. Over 140 yards from scrimmage. And this trend has continued this season. Especially this latest game with 33 carries, 133 rushing yards, 3 TDs and 47 receiving yards.

Stop dropping MJD after games where he gets 12 carries.

Can we get the right photo for Clifton Smith, he did make the pro bowl last year how about a little respect. Can Josh Freeman get his 74 rating back. All he has done moved up from third string to second string. How can you move up on the team depth chart but go down in rating. That ain't right Donny. I don't think it's right to reduce the second string QB's rating or the third string QB's rating in this case when the starter doesn't play well. Albert Mack is the Bucs third DB not Torrie Cox so, Albert Mack needs to go up above Torrie. Do the right thing.

randy moss & brady needs to be boost back to # 1 in there positions especially moss. He's always making 4th down clutch drives & outrunning every defender. I thnk he deserves his 99spd back if not give him 95+acc dude has some the most & unbelievable catches in the nfl every yr but never credited for it. He shouldn't be blamed for brady's overthrows & incomplete passes he throws to moss in double coverage. I could go on & on but give the man 99ovr & 99cth that he deserves. No receiver has out performed moss but always seem to compare themselves to the man, he has every receiver by miles lol

    • PFS

Yep they should get boosts for looking good against the 0-6 Titans. How many catches did Randy Moss get against Denver? I'll give you a hint: less than 2. Tom Brady looked real good in that game too, overthrowing wide open receivers and spending a lot of time on his back.

Cassel has performed well this year and deserves to be around 84. Tamba Hali has 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a safety in 6 games and should be rated higher. He can't help the fact his line is bad. The Madden group likes to hate on the Chiefs even though they lost 3 games this year in the the last minute.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…..ADJUST LT AND MERRIMAN TO ACCURATE RATINGS! The Chargers whole team (with the exception of Rivers/Gates) should be lowered. Really, the O-Line gave up 5 sacks, 2 fumbles, and countless hurries on Rivers.

Not sure if it's been suggested but,

Brian Cushing – Needs a boost, the guy has been playing very solid football (no matter if it's for a rookie or an experienced LB)

Clay Matthews Jr. – Needs a boost as well, he's also been playing pretty well so far.

Julian Edelman – Apparently broke his arm, so he might need to fall on the depth chart for now. His ratings should be increased because he's been very solid in receiving and returning kicks/punts. The kid is going to be a really good slot wr.

Mark Sanchez – For QB's with a minimum of 100 pass attempts, he ranks:
    - Last (tied with Delhomme) in INT's (10 int's)
    - 29th in completion percentage (52.1%)
    - 29th in qb rating (56.7)

Very rookie-like numbers to me. The guy's awareness and accuracy should take a hit, no doubt. He might be good down the road, but for now he's struggling.

Trevor Scott had back to back Sacks but hes a situational pass rusher maybe a boost in Pass rush
Louis Murphy Needs a run block boost and he ran a 4.3 also LOL raider speed!!!

Oh yeah and that guy up there who said Owen Daniels should be a 90 LOL Only if Zach Miller goes up also because he's ranked higher than Daniels and better. NFL network guys said he's the best TE to come out since GONZALEZ baby!!!

Ray Rice Needs that agility Boost.
Mark Sanchez needs to go down …How about down half a point for every pick he threw this last game

Kyle Orton should be higher b-cuz hes has thrown like one pick….Shut the Hell up damn donkey lovers. Hes WACK its only because of that Texas Tech Offense aka Patriot Spread Formation.

Shaun Tila Merroidman Tequila should go down ..Aint heard his name all season since he choked tila.

    LT needs to go down.
Tyvon Branch Ran i believe the Fastest 40yard dash time amongst dbs at his combine. Dont wanna a boost on anything else just give him his raider speed…if he wasnt fast he wouldnt even be on the team. Have u seen him get down field after Lechler punts it 70 yards.
Richard Seymour is a 97 at DT but a 93 as a LEor RE …But hes the only guy i have seen line up at all 4 D-line positions and still get sacks.
Desmond Bryant DT from the Raiderz Ran a 4.9 40yard dash For a freakin DT and hit 225 40 plus times.

    • PFS

So Tom Brady doesn't deserve his rating too… because of the system. Love your logic. You must not like Peyton Manning or Drew Brees either because they all play in QB friendly systems.

How about looking into London Fletcher. This guy is consistently one of the top 5 tacklers and play makers on defense. It is ridiculous that they limit him to such a slow speed. Yeah, he may be a bit long in the tooth, but you can't make all those tackles (65 in 6 games) without being able to move around on the field. How about you take a close look at the way he's rated all around?

    • dutlee

To be totally honest the rating system is fine, what isnt fine is that in a offline Franchise there is no way to import all the roster update while somehow keeping the stats you got during the season. If the updates were every two weeks for rating changes and every week for roster updates that would be fantastic and that is what EA needs to work on. As for rating changes I think EA should get some slack from you guys, there are so many players it has to be damn difficult to keep any of it strait no matter how many people are working on them, Roster changes should how ever have a dna for Madden, but roster ratings would be very tough, everybody has to take in account about injuries, players losing there jobs players promoted and no name players doing really good in place for an injured player. This will probably never be an exact science but they deffinately can make roster changes be an exact science.

Jets are becoming the Jets again, they'll probably end up 9 and 7 like always. Too good to get a high draft pick and not good enough to make it to the playoffs. With that being said Sanchez at 81 is fine to stay there, he will get better, Keller could probably see a drop although he is and can be better then what he is showing, the D is still solid but Rex needs to understand that he doesnt have the personnel of the Ravens he has a very bitter Jets personnel and he just cant call the same plays he did in Baltimore not yet anyway. They are missing a key element on defense but I havent figured it out yet I think its just mostly on the front line maybe a better RE or now they need a new DT but cant figure it out and I think its down to them only needing one more impact Defensive player. Sanchez needs to stop floating the ball and stop trying to squeeze in a throw where there is no room, if the Jets help him with that he will get better. The Jets also need to try the three headed running attack. Greene on first down, Jones on second and Leon on third. I think it would work but Rex is not an offensive guy so he can't see it. Night ya'll

It appears as if the Patriots will be making some roster moves before Sunday.

They should be adding either Brandon Tate or Terrance Nunn to the roster, so one of those guys should be added.

Most likely Brandon Tate, so he needs to be re-added.

    RAIDERS

FB Gary Russell – He's our new starting FB (not HB anymore) and had a good game catching balls and blocking.

SS Tyvon Branch – Had another good game and has been very solid all seasons. I hope his ratings rise up each week until he hits the 80's. What seems the most lacking in his ratings is tackle. He's our most solid safety tackler.

DT Gerard Warren – Not making any big plays, but not doing anything majorly wrong. I believe his rating is a 68, and probably should be maybe in the 70's because the d-line is doing great.

DE Trevor Scott – Doing well as a 3rd down pass rusher. Got 2 sacks last week.

Big Ben should at least b a 95. he's leading the league n pass yds and completion pct. also i think the steelers o-line pass blocking should go up a bit. and how could u 4get hinds ward who's leading the league in recieving. athe sttlers overall offense should get a boost. and mendenhall is steady improving every week [304 yds 4tds] n the last 3 games. And i think heath miller shld b up a bit he is second only 2 dallas clark for te's

    • xX L Boogie Xx

NO NO NO You have it all wrong. Im happy that the steelers havent moved all that much. They have only had two winning teams on their schedule thus far ( Bears, Bengals) and lost both games. I dont think u deserve a boost for hines mendenhall and ben for tourching the lions, titans, and browns defense in the stats columns. thats ridiculous. Lets see how they do in thier next five games with the only lack luster team being the chiefs and im picking the chiefs to win that game.
