2K Calls Out EA on NBA Live 10 Patch

In a post on their official forums (which has since been deleted) 2K Sports community manager Ronnie Singh responded to the wide-spread sentiment that the recently released NBA Live 10 patch took into account community feedback. The patch for NBA 2K10 won’t be arriving for some time still and the positive response to the Live patch along with it being out in time for the start of the NBA season prompted the following response:

To say that the Live patch was based on community feedback is outrageous. There is no way they could get days/weeks of feedback, build a patch to fix all their issues, have passed cert, etc. without a very simple thing: they were building the patch before release. I shouldn’t even have to make you clear about this. You guys saw our efforts to get actual feedback as we put up countless threads about it. That’s real effort.

Just like the constant shots at EA on Twitter this statement is at best unprofessional. It would be one thing if 2K10 was overwhelmingly well received but with the poor framerate, numerous glitches, and non-functional online play there isn’t much reason they should be taking shots at the competition. It doesn’t take community feedback to recognize those core issues with the game.

One aspect that isn’t being taken into consideration here is the early release of the NBA Live 10 demo. Feedback started being collected then with one prime example being suggestions that EA add a manual backdown mechanic, which they immediately responded to and included in the patch. The early demo has proven beneficial as community feedback has been directly taken into consideration in recent games such as Live and NHL 10. They both arrived nearly a month in advance of their respective release dates. On the other hand NBA 2K10 did not release a demo for the 360 until a week before the game came out while the PS3 got it over a week after release and they chose not to put out a demo at all for NHL 2K10.

Ive been a in 2k forums since last year telling them how bad their game is and now its finally coming out. Admin Ron is so lazy its ridiculous. Everybody at 2k is lazy. I was in the thread when he said that statement above and let me jus say it showed his immaturity. Taking shots at another brand because they got their stuff right and they didnt is so stupid. My thing is if Live did work on their patch before the game came out then why couldnt 2k. Its cause they lazy. They started working on the game extra late and it came out like trash. Im so glad that i bought both of them on the release date. So now that 2k is busted and broken i play Live. Anybody in here that wanna hit me up on Live,Madden or tryna play my club on NHL hit me up. My gamertag is Mastershake jr and im on xbox 360.

  • At least with Ronnie you know who he supports, 2K Sports. Pasta tries to present himself as unbiased when he is in fact an EA byproduct, paid by EA and fully owned by them. It's going to be fun to see him have to post a disclaimer on his website after the FCC files the law forcing all bloggers who receive gifts or $$$ from a company.
  • Endo
the audacity of 2k to act like they are in a position to talk trash. seriously the game is so f'd up this year and again they are dicking around their customers who take issue with that. i think guys like this jackass ronnie2k are either delusional or paranoid about their job security.
  • lowkeybg
It cracks me up how people say 2k is realistic. I have a lot of friends who are NCAA D1 ballers for top schools. Guess what they all play?? NBA Live 10 of course, because it is waaaaay more sim and waaaay more realistic. Yall 2k lovers can have fun with your crappy game, you act so defensive cuz you know that 2k is garbage this year.
  • James
Lol I swear dumasses like you crack me up. You got friends that play D1 ball? I know 2 guys that play in the NBA and guess what they play?, 2k. Hell I've played college bball and football and I prefer 2k10 over live. Everyone knows someone that plays oragnized sports and say they play this game so it must be more sim because THEY play it. But thanks for providing me with a couple laughs for the night.
  • Brad
I think NBA 2k10 has a lot of potential. It could be a great game once the wrinkles are ironed out. I'm just wondering if someone at 2k actually played the game before they released it? I played it once and found numerous problems (that they're addressing with the upcoming patch). I'll wait in anticipation of the foibles being fixed, but I still wonder why a company would put out a game with so many basic flaws.
  • t daley
Wow Brad you believe anything don't you. All it takes is 2k to say they are working on it and all you sheep fall right back into line. 2k is like a Pied Piper. Did 2k fix the problems from last year when they said they would.........NO they didn't.

Its unbelieveable what you sheep are willing to accept. If you bought a new car from a dealer ship, lets say a FORD and the day you got it home the engine blew, would you still want to buy FORD? Probabaly not. People become irrational when it comes to this game. You want this game to be so good that you brainwash yourself into thinking it will be great. All of you are in "DENIAL".
  • James
    LOL really though? 2k10 = $60.00, Car = $25,000 - $40,000. Horrible analogy dude.
  • Your a JOKE!!
Sounds so hypercritical of your clown ass!! STFU!!... it's the same thing you do with Madden each year. They say one thing and you jump on thier hog and ride it!

lol Madden is real huh? Steve Smith having 63 plus receptions in one game?!! come on !! get real chump!

  • t daley
I AM A JOKE? Find one post where i blindly support Madden. I don't waste my time with broke games and I don't commen on games til i have played them. Sorry dude but the joke is on you.
  • Wow. Pasta attacking 2K Sports. Nothing new here.
  • OOO_OOO
Wow. 2K doing something stupid. Nothing new here.
  • gobengals
I can honestly say I own 2k10 and I am happy with it. Ive had one major problem with the game freezing and the screen going black with the 2k10 symbol in the right hand corner at the end of the cavs magic game but thats honestly it. The game itself is good, i really cant see this whole list of problems they named in the patch except for fixing the coach settings save issue, the in game saves issues. Most of the problems ive read about I dont even encounter and ive heard many other people dont either so maybe they arent widespread issues. Alli know is if this patch will make the game better, bring it on fast. As for Ronnie calling out EA on the quickness of their patch, maybe he was just jealous that they already got their patch out and 2k is apparently "still working" on theirs. All i want is the patch so i can start my association. Please just put it out soon 2k so we can put all this crap to bed.

    EA is Trash!!!

EA Sports for the gullible masses of pick up and play tards who don't know the first thing about the sport.

EA Sports for the moronic masses who just want to jump on and start bombing away to his favorite player without any skill at all.

EA Sports for the puppets of the combined marketing influences of EA, The NFL and Pop Culture.

EA Sports if its in the game...It might be there next year.

EA Sports if you can't beat'em....Buy'em

EA Sports 50% Marketing funding....10% Development funding.....40%..Exclusive License Funding.

EA Sports We buy exclusives licenses because....We know our fan base...An Official Stamp is all we need to reel the mindless kiddies in.

    EA Sports is trash.
  • t daley
Hmm.........EA = billion dollar a year juggernaught 2k= not even close.

For smack tard sheep like you. Enter ETRS in your search engine then enter TTWO and then you will see what is what.
  • X2KFootballG0dX
EA a billion dollar company= Plenty of marketing money to lure puppets like you in.

    You mindless morons are pathetic.

    EA Sports=Arcade trash

    2K Sports= Quality sports sims

T Daley=A mindless puppet who loves taking that ride on the conveyor belt leading to the abertois of mediocrity(EA Sports)..T-Daley already has his spot reserved for next year.
  • t daley
I wonder if it ever occurred to the 2k sheep to question why the game they love so much is broken each year. Did it ever occur to them to question why EA is suddenly making a run at 2k for basketball supremacy. All you have to do is look to hockey for the answer. NHL2k "used" to be a the fore front of hockey, a title held by EA for many years. EA lost supporters and that is the reason why NHL 09 was an overwhelming success and why EA is once again the undisputed king of hockey. The same is occurring in basketball. EA is motivated to get back the fanbase it once enjoyed and they are forced to step up to the plate. 2k has been on top for so long that they have grown complacent with releasing the same old, same old each year. They don't even care if there games work. Cmon, online play not working out of the box.......Really? I smell a class action law suit a coming.

pasta ea fanboy is on their payroll
  • IV THA UNITY
if u think that why do you read what he posts. it really makes no sense. you always go to where you think the news.posts etc meet your needs. Only a idiot would be mad at someone for having a preference. don't you have one? everybody likes what they like. it makes you more a Fanatic boy to search out and try to discredit somebody because what they like to play in their own home, isn't what you like to do in your own home. Don't be a IDIOT, it'd not s good look.
  • t daley
That story has about as much credibility and evidence as the story that you take it in the A$$ for phone cards and string cheese.
  • Bron
Get yo ass bak on dem 2k forms chump!
  • John
Its also weird how everything said on this site in favor of pasta or EA gets a thumbs up. Even when pasta comes out and says something corny, thumbs up. Anything said good about 2k gets you an automatic thumbs down, and some of you actually say that there's no biased going on here. I think there's a lot of guys who hate to disagree with anything pasta says so they choose to go along with anything he tells em, I mean he could literally tell some of these guys his favorite food is chicken and you'd probably catch a few of em at KFC. None of you guys find it weird that most everywhere else prefers 2k10 over live, but this site has live as the clear cut winner, some guy even going as far as betting his car that live outsells 2k, I just hope he can afford another one... just this comment alone will have em coming to pastas defense, look for a couple of thumbs down on this one, LOL. I'll catch some of you guys back at OS, this site is still a joke. Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • you know what my favorite part is? fanboys always call for being "fair" to their favorite game before calling you a fanboy.
  • John
So what does that make you?
  • SSCOOLCHEA
2k needs to know all this before they put out the product than . I bought your game and its unplayable .you guys couldn't learn all of this with nba2k9 . what a joke . stop worrying about the competition and focus on your games . It's sitting here while i'm playing uncharted 2 until your stupid patch comes .
  • this is hilarious, they are hating... First off, its not like 2k hadn't been working on a patch since they went gold, cause they have had known issues in their database especially with online. See what happens when you wait so long to release a demo... lol
  • t daley
Lets get one thing straight. A game going gold has absolutely nothing to do with quality. For example, Transformers 2 was a box office success but the overall consensus from the fans is that the movie was garbage. The same goes for 2ksports. All you sheep flock to there games like it were Mecca or something. You blindly buy their games without a thought and you sheep are the ones responsible for them going gold.

I hate to break it to you but you sheep are the reason why you get broken games every year. 2k relies on your sheepish behavior to drive sales. Why do you think 2k is going down hill and EA is on the rise. EA has made crap in the past and EA fans left them for greener pastures. The fans forced EA to make a better game and they delivered. 2k sheep just stick with the crap they get.
  • My Point Exactly Couldn't Have Said It Any Better
  • 2rubballfan
You hit the nail right on the head Pasta. The dummies should have released a demo free of charge well before the release date instead of acting like their product don't stink. That's real mature of them but anyway they should take it as a lesson learned. No reason to cry now and try to clean up spilled milk. Get your stuff together 2K and be professional. Of course EA was working on a patch before the game was released that's why they make demos.
  • joostin
I do some QA testing for EA. Sure the patch could have been in development before release because they have external QA testers come in throughout the production. So once it goes GOLD and cannot be altered they find ways to fix the bugs that were left out but recognized in the QA procedure. Maybe 2K can;t afford External QA sessions on a weekly basis, but that is straight from the community. They ask people from the area to come in and play their games. This is on top of the time they spend in house testing.

Sounds like 2K might need to visit EA HQ in Burnaby and see how much testing goes into these games. Sure their programmers are streamlined and told to work on certain projects first, thus causing glitches to make it to final releases, but EA also releases 5 times the titles 2K does every year as well. lol

I dislike some of EAs policies, but this guy from 2K is a joke and a sore loser lol.
  • Sever82
Yeah its unprofessional but its true. 2K probably dropped the ball by not beginning work on the patch, especially on the framerate issues. But you have to be an idiot to think that EA didn't already know the issues on their game and had already begun working on that patch. It is dumb for people to think EA actually paid attention to the feedback and put out a patch that quick, they just did the sleezy thing and took credit and said they only put it out because of the feedback.

On another note, you're very pathetic Pasta for surfing around 2k boards looking for something to post on your blog. This article, thread or whatever you want to call it isn't work noting. You're making something out of nothing. And as for your assumption that Live will take over 2K, are you serious? Did you read the reviews and did you read which game was better. If EA actually paid attention to their fans, they would've changed the player models by now and corrected the robot like models. Stop being a Fan boy and start posting fair threads.
  • another one.
  • bighousefan
what difference when EA started their patch, at least Live has a solution to some of their issues while we are still stuck with a game with many, many flaws that won't be solved until mid to late November?!! Does it matter that EA knew of it's shortcomings and started to work on fixing them right away, as opposed to 2K releasing this crap with it's problems and with what feels like they said, "let's just wait and see what complaints come in before we take action". Go ahead EA, you win this round as far as I'm concerned, I'm a 2k guy but I'd much rather my game company acknowledge problems out the gate and take action right away, as opposed to release what feels like an unfinished product and do nothing about it until a month or so later.
  • xoxo
damnnnnnnn, live is way the fuck down there, a 6.9? ouch! Oh well, unlike the rest of these guys I'll admit to having both games, and even though I bashed 2k a little prerelease, I can't argue that 2k is the better game. I'm still a little dissapointed in EA though, I thought live was supposed to be the "shit" this year, but I didn't know that it would be, Literally.
  • Jack Be Nimble
These are the only ratings that matter to me when it comes to bball, I use people that have actually played the games, enjoy!

  • ribbz
i don't really see these comments as a big deal. yes, there probably is some truth to it and they were working on a lot of the issues mentioned in the patch blog. however, to say it is outrageous that feedback was considered by having a patch come out this quickly makes no sense. i mean, the demo was out for a pretty long time before the actual game came out, so that had to give EA a pretty nice head start.

in any case, i don't think anyone loses regardless what game they decide to get this year.
  • Bundy
Shoot I forgot about NHL 10 and TIGER 10.... wow Ian! Get it together and find away to make it happen!
  • t daley
What exactly is your point bundy. We are talking about video games. It is impossible to make a game emulate real life. You should be mature enough to come to terms with that. EA has done a fantastic job with the "ENTIRE 10 LINE OF SPORTS GAMES". You need to step back, take a breath, and stop being a tool. Your a gamer just like the rest of us. Play the game and STFU. No one gives a shit about 2k vs EA. If you buy a game simply b/c EA or 2k made it, then you are a complete fool. The key is to play both and figure which one suits you.

All you idiots need to realize that your not going to make someone play something they dont like no matter what you say or how much you rant on a forum. I dont like NBA2k and its as simple as that. I don't like the control scheme for 2k and as long as they keep that scheme i will not be buying 2k

Can I be any more plain and direct than that. Its time to grow up people. If you like 2k fine but don't act like your game is better b/c that is clearly a matter of opinion and not fact.
  • Bundy
Pasta don't be a biaaatch and delete my post about Ian... you know that ish is true.
