Madden Taking Three Weeks of Roster Updates Off

EA Sports has now stated that the next roster update for Madden 10 will not be coming until November 20th. That means there will have been a three week gap between updates and just two updates in a five week span.

This is really disappointing news and any frustration is justified. While there will always be arguments as to players being over or underrated the updates this year have provided the best reflection of real life performance in the history of the franchise. This doesn’t just affect quick games and online games as anyone looking to start a franchise or online franchise won’t have the most up-to-date rosters available. Consistency is even more important than happening every single week and now we don’t even have that.

A partially automated system like NBA Live has with the Synergy daily updates would not make sense for Madden. Games are played only once a week and stats are not the driving force behind many positions in football. But if EA can’t do manual roster updates on a consistent basis than maybe some other procedure needs to be considered.

As suggested in the comments a system where roster moves (IR, trades, cuts, signings, depth chart) were done on a weekly basis while the ratings were adjusted bi-weekly or even quarterly would be a reasonable compromise.

I think I am done with the Madden franchise as soon as the contract with the NFL is up. This is BS. The only reason I get Madden is because I am a huge football fan, and it's the only NFL game out there. The EA team just doesn't have it in them to take the extra effort and make their customers happy. I usually have a moderate view, so I get annoyed with both the nitpickers who bash Madden and the unconditional Madden lovers. But this is ridiculous. At least EA should show the customers that they try and that they care. All the community input crap that they advertise is garbage. Everyone knows that if EA really cared what the community thinks, they would actually try to make this a good game. Effort is one thing you can't advertise.

I dont necessarily agree with OGKush007, but if you think you can put football in a game then you are misleading yourself. You really think the game will let you key on the stance of a player to judge the direction they are going? Or what about reading the way a corner drops? Champ baily and some others run a man coverage where they face the QB, which is unique becuase most man coverages focus on the man. Can I get a DB to turn his hips and then break away from him and the QB makes a sight adjustment on the coverage. Please- its just a game and can never be real football. Once I accepted it was a game ( i had to becuase NONE of the schemes work the way they do in real life) i began enjoying it much more.

I really regret buying madden this year I should have just waited tell December to buy this damn game/. This is the main reason why EA shouldn't be the only company making a nfl game. With basketball if i buy 2k and don't like the game i can blame nobody but myself because live is on the market to. But with madden they are the only nfl game. I love football and the NFL and they are taking advantage of the fans are like that. There are plenty of people in the world that would be gladly to take the job of just updating a roster. I think people are really overreacting to this news. Too many folks need anger management or something but I will say that I've been saying that EA should try to implement a DNA type feature to handle all this since they first introduced DNA. Maybe in Madden 11 we'll see it but more important for me is that they continue to improve the gameplay aspects more than anything else.

I totally understand…that's the whole "unacceptable" part of this. There is no excuse for them not releasing an update. But people who do want to start an offline dynasty now can get the week 8 update, make the moves that have happened since then a be pretty much up-to-date.

EA should have come out on day one and just have done an update every 3 or 4 weeks. Instead, they came out weekly and now can't keep up apparently. NO EXCUSES!
