Madden Taking Three Weeks of Roster Updates Off

EA Sports has now stated that the next roster update for Madden 10 will not be coming until November 20th. That means there will have been a three week gap between updates and just two updates in a five week span.

This is really disappointing news and any frustration is justified. While there will always be arguments as to players being over or underrated the updates this year have provided the best reflection of real life performance in the history of the franchise. This doesn’t just affect quick games and online games as anyone looking to start a franchise or online franchise won’t have the most up-to-date rosters available. Consistency is even more important than happening every single week and now we don’t even have that.

A partially automated system like NBA Live has with the Synergy daily updates would not make sense for Madden. Games are played only once a week and stats are not the driving force behind many positions in football. But if EA can’t do manual roster updates on a consistent basis than maybe some other procedure needs to be considered.

As suggested in the comments a system where roster moves (IR, trades, cuts, signings, depth chart) were done on a weekly basis while the ratings were adjusted bi-weekly or even quarterly would be a reasonable compromise.

actually I am not psycho. It is disappointing that a company like EA does not know what they are doing. They said there would be weekly updates, and then they pulled them. They said Patch #2 would be out a couple weeks ago, then never released it. I don't care when they do roster updates, but I do not like being lied to and misled. EA are a bunch of chicken shits for not coming out and announcing what is going on, and what the gameplan is going forward. I'm sick of corporate America taking advantage of its customers. In an economy like this, EA is lucky it even has sales; but for the sales they do get they should appreciate. There are many unfortunate people out there, who have a hobby and that is to play video games (this is not me) but there are many out there…especially younger kids who probably give up other things so that they can own this game. Maybe this was the only birthday present they got, maybe its the only present they will get all year because they had to choose over something else. EA doesn't care enough to address customers because they don't CARE about their customers. Don't lie to us, is all I'm saying. STICK TO YOUR WORD is all I'm saying. EA fronts, and they have for the past couple years. Be honest, that's all people want.

I think the game is pretty good, won't say great; and like a lot of people on here I don't care about roster updates weekly. All I want done is fix it so the CPU doesn't get a freaking pass off as I'm about to sack him. Geez, enough of the last second passes bishes! Take a sack like a pixelsted little computer man!! Haha!

And I still think that speed has been overused again in the game. I cant figure out how guys like knowshone moreno has gotten an increase in speed when he obviously isnt faster than he was at the begining of the year. Its simply a way to boost his rating. And Deon Sanders in his prime would have been 97 speed Id say and he is by far the fastest football player to date (except maybe chris johnson who may be tied). All other players speeds should be rated on a scale from there. I think that 90 speed should represent elite status (just like a 90 overall rating should represent elite status) and a player that is a 94 or above should be hall of fame amazing. If we cant say yes they deserve to be in the HOF based upon their career body of work I dont see how you can rate them higher than 94. Can we please bring player ratings down to earth?

i think a roster update every 2-3 weeks is ab right. so what if some lucky guy off the bench does amazing one week? u bump him up 6 pts bc of it? only to play like a bench player the next game? i agree with a player playing good CONSISTENLY for at least 2-3 weeks before u go ahead and make him better. a good example: WR austin from the cowboys. he did great 2-3 weeks in a row so i agree with him improving signnificantly. also the safety byrd from the bills. other players rated in madden low, the reason their low is bc they dont do well in real life consistently…or just plain suck. so im a 6 year vet with a rating of 58. ive scored a TD 3 times in my career. one game i happen to score 2 TDs so i should get bumped up 6-8 pts? please, if thats the case how come then i should of been a 32 to start off with bc i cant score TD at a position which thats all ur suppose to do. and how come players who do terrible and stuff dont get downgraded by more than like 2-3 pts? it should be the same way as when they are upgraded

I agree 100%! You can't tell these dumb EA fanboys anything though. Anybody who knows football will understand that you shouldn't increase someone ratings after just one game. You have to consistently prove it.

i agree. I only want them to change ratings because when the game is released, the ratings are so far off. There are still players that are not rated correctly. they dont need a good game to get a ratings boost, they need to be recognized.

Well my team is the texans, and they have their bye week next week so I only miss two updates and I don’t mind that. The only thing I would suggest is they make an update schedule and stick to it!
