Evan Longoria Gets MLB 2K10 Cover

Evan Longoria has been revealed to be the cover athlete for 2K Sports MLB 2K10. As first reported at Kotaku four potential covers were included to be chosen from in a marketing survey with all being different variations of a Longoria cover. 2K has not made any official announcement and may not still for some time. For MLB 2K9 the announcement came on November 11th which was earlier than usual to coincide with and take advantage of the news that Tim Lincecum had won the Cy Young.

Longoria was one of the top possibilities last year coming off a Rookie of the Year award winning season in which his Tampa Bay Rays went to the World Series. The two baseball games chose Tim Lincecum and Dustin Pedroia instead. Longoria had a great 2009 season statistically batting .281 with 33 HRs and 113 RBIs and won his first Gold Glove. This is the first time that 2K has gone outside of an area that houses a headquarters for the company having stuck with players from New York and the Bay Area in the past.

Oh boy cant wait for 2K's marketing to kick in. Heres how it goes for MLB.

December: Announce Longoria. Show fake screenshots.
January: Quiet. Act like a big deal is about to happen and show pointless mo-cap session pics
February: Quiet. Put out a blog or two about features that may or may not work. Put out trailer that conveniently covers up gameplay problems by showing no gameplay.
Early March: Two days before release let website show footage of actual game. Maybe put out demo of game a few days before release or hold it back until after. People then realize the game sucks again.

nah nah… this year, they'll release the playstation 3 demo a week AFTER the game's release, or after the 360's demo is released, since that's how slack 2K Sports has gotten lol.

DUDE, you have hit the nail on the head, now tell me why you 2kfanboys dont have that kind of insight when it comes to the NBA2k franchise. The formula is exactly the same. I guess baseball fans are just smarter than NBA fans. Wonder why that is?????????

this is so unfortunate. longoria is my favourite player and whoever said "hope your money is worth losing your dignity evan" is right. He is a waaaaaay better player and more deserving to be on this 2k10 shit. unfortunately i might have to buy this because it will be a make or break year for 2k in baseball. I was really hoping MLB 10: the show got a hold of Longoria first but this is just awful news

The only way I will consider RENTING it will be for a My Player mode, and obviously fixing the bugs and glitches. Good thing that I will have the Show to keep me occupied regardless.

If I was 2K I'd worry more about putting a quality effort into the game & not so much the cover. 2K9 was quite possibly the worst baseball game I've ever played. They should be ashamed of even having the exclusive license.
