EA Sports has released a blog detailing what will be found in the second patch for Madden 10. There is nothing further provided on when the patch will be out as it is just awaiting certification clearance from Microsoft and Sony. Release of the blog though likely signifies that it is going to arrive very soon. For a while now we’ve been working off this list of items expected in the patch. However as stated in the blog we know in addition to those things the patch will be providing the following.

  • Tribute sticker for Steve McNair added to Titans helmets
  • Tribute sticker for Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson added to Eagles helmets
  • Doubled the length of replays
  • Increased frequency of auto-replays especially after touchdowns
  • Reduced the number of times the chain-gang measurement scene occurs
  • Extended time in post-play to allow those scenes to fully play out
  • Stats tuned for franchise mode
  • Decreased chances of injury for players with high injury ratings
  • Included each player’s draft info to be viewable in franchise

Yeah no kidding. So do you not know how to *think*? The old list has been around for a couple months and since then they've added some stickers, added a couple replay tweaks and had the brilliant thought to make injury ratings affect how often a player gets hurt. That's crap and the changes from this addendum shouldn't have taken more than a week. If you actually think these additions constitute some kind of meaningful change to the quality of the patch you're nuts.

Those franchise fixes are pretty nice, covering almost all the issues people had with it this year other than the typical retarded AI decisions. For people that control every team such as myself, the stat fixes, injury tuning, inclusion of draft history, all that is the only thing that kept me from playing the game more.

The gameplay is flawed but I looked at things realistically and didn't expect every gameplay flaw to be magically fixed by a patch. I just cared more about franchise, and most of the problems appear to be fixed.

*Claims* to fix the franchise stats, just like they claimed they were fixed before the game even came out. I have doubts.

So two months later and still no mention of franchise mode failing to record tackles correctly. Another nail in the coffin.

If he was simply referring to the tackle display glitch, then we already have proof of that. The other things, you're right, we don't know how it changed but we do know it has been addressed and likely will be somewhat better than before.

So, you'd rather they do nothing instead of attempting to appease a bunch of whiny crybabies who obviously don't deserve any additions to the game? Just don't buy the game anymore, but these annoying tirades have ruined this blog for anyone that reads the comments. It's on a youtube level at this point.

These blogs are always released just before the patch drops, so it's likely coming this week. It's not "hush hush" either, the certification process is entirely in the control of the console companies. They never promised a specific time window for the patch, they just promised a patch. I follow a lot of video games, and no community is as selfish and annoying as the Madden crowd…and that includes games that are much crappier than Madden.

I've always been a Madden fan and will play it updates or not. I'll play the game whether or not they do updates, patches, or whatever. My only point is for EA to be upfront with this stuff. EA doesn't need to do rosters or patches if they don't want to, but just come out and say "what you buy is what you get". If you are going to advertise with promises of weekly updates and patches and additional add-ons, then they need to do them IN A TIMELY FASHION and get them to the public. Either do it the right way or don't do anything.

Nice. This is the patch that is supposed to fix the broken gameplay? Fucking BS. Fuck EA.

Any word on the frequent over the shoulder catches? I'm pretty sure running backs dont turn sideways and jump to catch checkdown passes. The commentators always talk about how he went up high to make a leaping catch, and it's really annoying. Also, i notice that accelerated clock continues to wind time of the game clock even after an incomplete pass. Otherwise, I like what I see? But can anyone clear this up for me?

Need to fix the progression for players based on the stats the players put out in frachise, the progression is terrible…. say a player gerts 100 sacks in a season……….unreal… but you still do it….. the progression should reflect those stats.. along with progress the players more when you break records after games and seasons.

When you import NCAA draft class…… people like Eric Berry shouldnt go from a 99 overall in ncaa to one of the slower, crappier players in the draft. Things like that NEED to be fixed. Bring Franchise mode back to the top. make it worth while.
