First MLB 2K10 Preview

Earlier I posted up the full features list for MLB 2K10. Now IGN has released the first hands-on preview of the game.There is a distinct tone of discouragement carried throughout which is not typical of most previews which tend to be glowing or give the benefit of the doubt on issues.

Included in the preview is talk about the My Player mode which appears to be primarily focused on clutch situations, the formula for pitching with the right stick being made more accessible, a defensive swing addition, and “hurry-up baseball” option which removes all the presentational elements. Also new is the “Batter’s Eye” which intends to provide the more talented hitters an advantage.

Just as in real life, standout hitters in MLB 2K10 can see certain pitches coming as the ball is released from the pitcher’s hand. You’ll get a quick text pop-up that says “fastball,” “breaking ball” or “changeup” depending on the pitch and the hitter.

Of note is the commentary which has added John Kruk while keeping Steve Phillips along with Gary Thorne. The decision to hold onto Phillips will be somewhat controversial considering the circumstances of his firing from ESPN and that he is currently without any employment or association with baseball. Given that he remains it comes as little surprise that 2K did not advertise the commentary team in the features list.

    I dunno. Last Year everything sounded great from the beginning but we got closer to release dat it all came out that the game had tons of problems. I'll be getting The Show first day. What I read in that sounds pretty cool "MLB Today" is very cool as it worked well in NBA. I'll wait for Impressions from people before I make my decision

    I dunno. Last Year everything sounded great from the beginning but we got closer to release dat it all came out that the game had tons of problems. I'll be getting The Show first day.     Ha gotta love 2K. At least with MVP Baseball they did something different and flashed a color based on how good the hitter was and the pitch type. 2K is going to just flat out tell you what pitch is coming. Brilliant!

        Ive been browsing pasta's site for a little over a year now and you my friend are by far the biggest biased, most closed minded person I have ran across. Try searching some 2k bugs, I promise you will find plenty, as a matter of fact search any game on you tube for glitchs/bugs and you will most likely find something, sports game or otherwise. Its a know fact that 2K9 was one of the worst games as far as bugs and glitches goes in recent memory.

    Pasta When does mlb 2k "pick a year" sounds encouraging. They gonna tell you the pitch……intresting…arent you suppose to be able to figure out pitches by speed and movement..I dont think in real life the pitcher holds up a sign to show you what he is throwing or just maybe this will justify the high number of runs and the continous home run slug fest………thats why im gonna buy "The Show"..

Utilizing this feautre will it make way to easy if your playing with the Yankees as opposed to if you were playing with the Royals. In the spirit of competition this mode would have to be turned off for online play much like the guess pitch feature is normally turned off for online matches in MLB the Show.

He's the best MLB player… But no, Evan Longoria. I've never really hear that much about him….. Wow

You can't pinpoint a certain place that all of your genes came from unless you can pinpoint the 1st man and woman.

        Think about this a man from Brazil and a woman from America have a child the woman's mom is from Poland and her father from Russia the man's mom is from Australia and his father from China. I know that might seem a bit extreme but you can see how they will be related to people from every corner of the globe as you go down the list and branch out. If it was possible to fully map out your heritage you would find out that you are related to everyone.

They showed Jose Reyes in one picture, looks black, does that work for you. Basketball and Football have more black players because those kids play more of those sports then white kids (excluding QB's, ha).

      Racism will never die becasue some one always has to place a color barrier on everything. I mean with Barrack Obama, "the first black president" that seems like a racist comment in itself. Until A black person does something for the first time and they are known as just another person who accomplished a milestone then we will always have racism. I dont think color should be placed on any milestone.

    bob honestly everyone here knows you work for 2k… anywho if anyone ever played 2ks basketball games the past 3 or 4 years you would know its the same situation… 2k7 was really good 2k8 was good 2k9 was ok 2k10 was and is the biggest ripoff in sports game history.. all modes had something buggy wrong with them, online play??? was virtually not playable… my player mode.. wow the most agravating thing i ever seen in my life.. it had so much potentiall for sucess…. but you werent able to play it because the game breaks in the middle of the season WOW…. i havent played a good baseball game since EA sports MVP in 2005… i dont want to try 2ks baseball game i reallly dont trust it…

MLB 2K has a good grasp on delivering a quality product both online and offline as per the request of the fans. Plus MLB 2K doesn't have the misfortune of releasing a tittle major glitches like the videos you see below.

    Im looking forward to it but then again that's because I have an XBOX360. I think the game will be much better then last years even though I enjoyed last years after the update fixed it (not all of it). The game will be much better since it's Visual Concepts 2nd year, they'll only make it better.
