First MLB 10: The Show Feature Focused Blog

As was the case last year SCEA will be releasing regular postings on the Playstation Blog leading up to release for MLB 10: The Show. The first one has arrived offering a detailed look at the 30-Player Franchise Mode. The idea is to allow for gamers to be able to replicate the developments during the MLB season within their franchise. The full blog posting includes some images of the menus and option screens and you can check it all out here.

One of our goals going into this year was to finally enable the ability to mimic your real-life counterpart rosters when in Franchise mode. In order to do so, we had to allow all 30 teams to be set for user control.

Probably the most interesting addition is being provided the ability to manually give players injuries and set the severity and length of time they will be out. Also mentioned is having Single A rosters to work with, real-time waivers, and a new email system for updates.

    I am pumped up for the franchise mode. They really have listened to all the people at OS and they have made their franchise mode, probably the best of any other sports game.

    So normal injuries don't happen? I don't really want to play a whole season without injuries, and I'm sure not selecting guys to get injured since my pace will be way off from real life.

      You can have it set to, injuries ON, OFF, MANUAL.

    the idea sounds nice…but in reality…if you want to TRULY replicate the actual season…you would be only advancing through the calendar one day at a time…meaning you'll be playing the same seaon from opening day through october…the ability to follow along with the current season is a completely overrated feature…

    Who gives a shit about this. MLB 09 was so BORING after 5 games. Press button to pitch, press button to throw man thats a great baseball game. All you tools out there just go with everyone else becuase they like The Show. The graphics are pretty good. The commentary sucks balls my dog can do better and listening to the commentary on some of the released trailers/gameplay for 10 it sucks and still the same shit. No excitment in the commentary. MLB and NBA2k have the best commentary ever in a game, plus MLB 2k is going to be the best yet. So shove all The SHows up your asses.

          I've played a couple of 2k baseball games, and it all feels like they're playing underwater, the stick batting was fun for a while, but i couldn't hit anything. I played 2k7 for a long time until i owned a PS3, and I discovered that I truely enjoyed MLB the show. It was the road to the show that sold it for me, and the overall solid gameplay. Just because 2K has road to the show now doesn't mean i'm going to play it again.

      K when you cant shag a fly ball because the outfielders are retarded in mlb 2k and you run into a problem where your system freezes in the third inning and then you wait for a patch forever . Then maybe you will realize once again why more people like the show then those sorry excuses for games that 2k puts out, they are cheap. you can have your commentary how, does it play. I would alot rather smoothly make a diving play at short stop with no gameplay bugs then have joe morgan get a hard on when i hit a home run. you fags talkin about commentary are retarded. makes no sense. Its like saying that the only good part of last years superbowl was the commentating. you dont remember what some numb nuts said you remember what actually happend and what you see with your eyes. Stop being a lame and do you have any idea what a tool is dude, you should look it up __

Good luck with the Show and with the batters never steeping out of the batters box for the next pitch only certain players do it and not all the time. Yeah thats SIM like. Here is The Show. Pitch with the face buttons, if its a strick it take Nomo about 3 minutes to get back to the pitching rubber becuase he is pick up what looks like dirt but its air. WTF is that. Sure you can skip that and just pitch but that sucks. The game sucks. Plus the game is scripted and the AI always comes back from behind and you can't throw anyone out at the plate becuase the catcher is 50 feet from the plate. Yeah thats a real sim game..

    With 2K's gesture pitching, forget about it. I don't care how "good" you get at gestures, it's still complicated as hell to make it give a realistic result. And the location ball that allows you to pick your spot to throw to is a quarter of the strike zone – gigantic!

    If it works, it works. In the end, it's not what buttons or "gestures" you make, but what happens because of it. I bet you you can't get more than 3 hits off me in 9 innings in The Show. You pick the pitcher. I will dominate you.

    If we played 2K, each of us would have about 20 hits, with about 10 homeruns to boot. That's for sure realistic, huh?

    Ok so the new camera angle..broadcast view is awesome…the complete control roster for all 30 teams..sweet. The customizable options..great..the catcher mode in RTTS exactly what I wanted..the injury sim..what I always wanted..I was like a lot of people and just hoping it would be better than last year just because we always want more..but this stuff all makes the game a lot better and they seem to be really trying.
    Lets make this game fun and exciting—the show devs
    lets concentrate on the grain of the grass–mlb2k devs

      Game Broken-The Show you can run the bases becuase the buttons are all screwed up.
      Game Broken-Commentary is like listening to someone taking a shit.

      Great Game-2k rea-time atmosphere
      Great Game- The commentary is the best I ever heard in a sports game besides NBA2k10
      Great Game-Batters actually move out of the batters box to set up for the next pitch, unlike The Show they are wooden statues.
      Great Game-My Player…Sweet

      So my final verdict goes to 2k. The show just SUCKS
