SCEA has released screenshots from MLB 10: The Show displaying the top rated players with the initial two positions of focus being first base and catcher. The cover athlete, Joe Mauer, as expected leads the catchers while first base is topped by Albert Pujols with several others trailing close behind in ranking.

The Show utilizes a bar system rather than a number to communicate the overall rating. Continue on to view the screenshots and leave your thoughts in the comments!

    No love for Adrian…

  • gotmewrong1984

I was surprised too, but he's averaged 18 homers, 76 RBIs, and a .282 average over the past 5 years, pretty solid for a catcher. Pretty close to Posada's numbers over the same period of time.

  • floridagatorfan

thats what I was thinking. I don't get how he is below Derrek Lee.

  • BU1B22

miguel cabrera got too much love to go along with that. id say cabrera and adrian gonzo switch places.

  • SENZ

Prince Fielder over Lance Berkman? I DON'T THINK SO!

I'd take 1 Lance Berkman over 10 Prince Fielders.

  • gotmewrong1984

Me too but I'm a huge Stros fan :)

  • cdub326

Seriously I really don't understand how Lee is better than A-Gon. And where's Joey V?

  • mitch_K

i disagree lol. I dont know how prince isnt only behind pujols and teixera. Pasta i cant tell but are the top 4 1B all the equivalent of 99's?

  • mlbexpert

I cannot believe how stupid some fans can be, you'd honestly take BERKMAN over Fielder? You have absolutely no argument on this one, compare stats – they are not even close. I'm guessing you'd rather take Carlos Lee over Braun too, idiots.

  • mlbexpert

    Berkman 2009 line–

25 Hr, 80 rbi .274/.399/.509 with an OPS of .907

    Fielder's 2009 line–

46 HR, 141 rbi .299/.412/.602 with an OPS of 1.014

Matt Wieters over Russell Martin? hmm…… idk

  • mike

You guys realize its not 2002 right? That was berkmans career year, which still isnt better than what Prince did last year.

  • mike

In half a year, that was his rookie year, wieters out did what martin did the entire season. So yeah id take wieters over martin in a heart beat.

  • lolo

Russell Martin is the 2nd best catcher behind only joe mauer

  • 65South

Can anyone tell me what the red and blue boxes with the stars indicate?

    Thx in advance!

  • MattHolliday_7

Bout time Yadi gets a star! He's the best catcher in the NL!

    • Mo

      ahh NOOO!!! He isn’t!!!

  • MattHolliday_7

Berkman is on the backside of his career. In his prime I'd take Berkman, but Prince can rake.

as a cubs fan im a bit bias, d lee is a great first baseman in my eyes and i pretty good hitter. but adrian is way better imo dude is a beast.

  • MetsFanFuk2007-09

when it comes to stuff like that.the padres are one of the worst teams in the mlb.

  • http://www.facebook.com/a.j.gadberry Anthony A.J. Gadberry

? lol gtfo. for all we know Wieters can just flop from here on out. russel martin has been very consistent

? lol gtfo. for all we know Wieters can just flop from here on out. russel martin has been very consistent

  • airlyle

the red and blue stars indicate that the player was an all-star last season

  • airlyle

  • airlyle

russell martin has not been that consistent

  • airlyle

russell martin has not been that consistent

  • Foxmulder

I would take Kurt Suzuki over any of the players after Victor Martinez, he got the shaft playing in Oakland.

    • Mo

Kurt would be 10th on my list – he isn’t better than any of Sony’s top 9.

  • Foxmulder

I would take Kurt Suzuki over any of the players after Victor Martinez, he got the shaft playing in Oakland.

  • James

Wow… a homer statement at it's best lol

  • James

Wow… a homer statement at it's best lol

  • jerry

    my ass!

  • jerry

    my ass!

  • Bob is blind

Yadier is the best defensive catcher and can pretty much hold up his own in the NL around the 7th spot. But I'll Mcann any day for him

    • Mo

      Well said BIB!!!

  • Russell Martin blows

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • http://www.twitter.com/gotmewrong1984 Dan

He had pretty good numbers last year for a catcher: 15 homers, 88 RBIs, and a .274 average.

  • Bob is blind

If .250 and 7 HR is what you expect from him then yes he is very consistent

  • Foxmulder

Plus he played great defense, handled an extremely young pitching staff, and plays pretty much everyday. Its a crime for him not to be here.

  • Foxmulder

    Lol thats funny man

  • http://www.twitter.com/gotmewrong1984 Dan

    Maybe he's the 10th ranked catcher :)

  • http://www.twitter.com/gotmewrong1984 Dan

    XD Love your name

  • Scott

Kendry Morales' stats were just as good as Teixeira's last season. No way he's not a top 9 1B. He's better than Youk, Berkman, and Lee

    • Joe

Yeah, he’s got a great swing. He came good at the right time for the Angels, definitely better than Berkman, Lee, etc.

    • Bob is blind

You’re kidding me right? So, then do you think Clayton Kershaw is better than King Felix, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee etc? Because he had a lower ERA than them

      • Anonymous

Actually, King Felix had a lower ERA than Kershaw. Stuff wise, Kershaw is absolutely better than Cliff Lee – -> Cliff is just a pitcher right now; he commands the strike zone, changes speeds, doesn’t walk guys. Kershaw is my long shot pick to win the CY Young this year.

    • Mo

You may have something there, but Morales needs to put up similar numbers two years in a row first.

  • Foxmulder

    That must be it. lol

  • Amen Ra

So true man, not only stats but age as well. I can't wait to play with my Astros and blow the team up

  • Amen Ra

I live in Houston, you and I must be watching two different Berkman's…

  • http://www.twitter.com/gotmewrong1984 Dan

Me too. You guys are right, Berkman's career is starting to go down hill and he isn't as good Fielder. Hopefully Pence can make up for Berkman's lack of production.

  • http://www.twitter.com/gotmewrong1984 Dan

Surprising he isn't rated better considering the Angels have a 91 rating.

  • Joe

Yeah, consistenly lousy. Russell Martin is an aweful hitter. AWFUL.

Wieters will be in the top 2 or 3 catchers by season's end.

  • AtlantaBraves19

Um, mcann is the best in the NL, yadi is the 4th best. mcann is the best, hes right up there with mauer

  • SENZ

…because batting stats are ALL that matter!

    mlbexpert my ass.

  • Joe

I’m a Cubs fan. Derek Lee is better than Adrian Gonzalez? Yeah, sure.

In that case, we’ll trade you our 1B for yours. Shocking, considering the game is made in San Diego.

    Time to edit.
