The Line Drive 2/21

  • A second developer diary video for Backbreaker has been released. This one focuses on, yet again,  Euphoria. There are still three months until release but I’m looking forward to having different subjects touched on such as how the football basics (rules, AI, play calling, ect) are instituted in the game.
  • 2K Sports has released two blogs detailing the new My Player mode broken into two parts. They include new screenshots from the mode. The first posting can be found here with part two here.
  • IGN has also published hands-on thoughts on MLB 2K10′s My Player mode. Somewhat concerning is the mention of multiple crashes that prevented him from continuing with his careers as well as the ease of hitting.
  • I’ve reinstituted the mobile version of the site and also installed BerryBlab for the forums. If you have a Blackberry try out the app and let me know if it works for you. I’m getting an error when entering a thread but it could just be my phone. I’m looking into a mobile version of the forums for other devices too.

I read the MLB 10 blolgs. I cant wait to get this game. Pasta can you play the futures game as a quick game?

Not sure, but I'll check when I get my copy (should be sometime this week).

  • okafor43

Pasta you really hate 2K, don't know what it is but you just don't like them… hmm, EA has you in they're pocket? If you read the IGN article it says that it crashed on a version that wasn't complete and that the bug was already fixed.

  • CRISZ

2k does not get the benefit of the doubt anymore. they dont deserve it. i wont be surprised to hear about crashes after the game is out. even think about nba 2k10 which 2k actually cares about the quality of and my player mode had a ton of problems.

  • bahhhhhhhh

and the sheeple are so willing to get in line.

You should ask pasta if EA pays him and see if you get a response.

  • Corey

Thanks for bringing back the mobile version. I am on my Tour a lot it makes it much easier to enjoy the site

  • Boucher

Lol Lafayette how is Ea in pastas pocket when the competitor is SCEA?Time to end your childish beliefs

  • Kris

Backbreaker has bust written all over it. I'm hoping it will be decent but I'm not investing in that being likely.

  • C22-D

definitely concerned the more we find out about 2k10. check swings were the first sign, now even previews are talking about big problems when they usually overlook them in those.

  • Boucher

Lol Lafayette how is Ea in pastas pocket when the competitor is SCEA?Time to end your childish beliefs

  • Lafayette

Easy, because if it isn't EA then It's Sony he's backing. Believe me, if there were a EA baseball game he'd bash SONY also.

  • JohnZapp

Lafayette owns!!!!!!!!!! That college is the best. GO LEOPARDS!!!!! all my teachers went to lehigh so school is like hell

  • Amen Ra

    I agree with you 100%

What does EA have to do with how crappy 2K baseball has been the last few years. In case you didn't know, Sony makes The Show, so EA has NOTHING to do with this discussion.

And the reason anyone says what they say about 2K baseball is because it is so far away from its competition in quality it's a waste to even talk about it. The Show has been hands down a better game the last few years and there's no reason to think it won't change this year.

And those are the facts, dude. Not speculation…

  • Amen Ra

That game looks like shit to me. I'm not impressed at all. hopefully we see something better when we get actual gameplay videos, but honestly I don't see how anyone is excited unless you hate Madden, which I can understand. Those graphics remind me of Baseball Wars, or whatever the game was called, where you played robots that could blast each other on the base paths. That's some cartoon bullshit.

  • sroeland

To be fair, the author of the IGN MLB 2K10 article was told that the crash bug was fixed.

However, it simply boggles the mind as to why the game would still have crashes year after year in ANY build of the game.

The main reason I gave up on 2K9 (besides the slow-mo outfielders) was the fact that my Franchise froze up after the second offseason. Multiple save files didn't matter, as all were subject to the lock-up.

WOW!!!! What a shocker. A 2k baseball game with an overly easy batting mode and a broken My Player Mode. Hey, wasn't My Player Mode broken in NBA 2k as well. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

Silly 2kfan boys. Tricks are for kids!!!!!

  • T. DALEY

Give me a break Pasta. You know damn well how easy it is to hit the ball in 2k. Its friggin rediculous how easy it is.

Also for you nimrods who actually think that 2k is going to give away a milliion dollars, you are dreaming. First off, have you looked at the NASDAQ lately. I honestly don't think TTI has a million dollars to squander away on some lame fanboy quest.
Secondly MLB2k is the easiest game on the planet to hit in and for the cpu to hit in.
Lastly, you will be playing against the cpu. Do you really think 2k will make it possible to pitch a perfect game. This is just another stupid ass ploy to sucker in more sales. They tried the same $hit in 2005 when they dropped all their sports games to $19.99.

  • T. DALEY

Isnt funny how 360 fanboy gets all upset because they know they do not have a quality baseball game so they will defend 2k to the grave, even knowing in there heart that it is a piece of crap. They will even buy this crap b/c its the only game they get to play.

There should be a psychological study done on these people to find out WTF is wrong with them. I just cant figure out when people will say enough is enough and stop buying broken products from 2k.
How many times do you nimrods need to be burned before you take your hand out of the fire. Do you really think that after 2 horrific seasons of 2k baseball that all of a sudden their will be a masterpiece released this year. Sadly, you probably do :(

  • T. DALEY

For all those sheep who are clammoring about the release of BACKBREAKER, I have some words of Advice for you. REALITY CHECK!!!!

It doesn't matter how good Back Breaker might be with its rag doll physics courtesy of the Euphoria Engine. You will play this game for a day then you will cast it aside for the very obvious reasons I am about to state.
    1. No NFL teams 2. No NFL Stadiums 3. No NFL Players. This game will be an epic fail for those reasons. Nobody wants to play a no name football game no matter how good it might be. Remember All Pro 2k8? I rest my case. Even that had some has been players. Once Madden 11 hits the shelf, back breaker will be a distant memory. Backbreaker is a rental only; Something to take the edge off while we wait for Madden. Dropping full price for this game is a complete waste of money.

  • T. DALEY

2k's word is like the old saying, “The check is in the mail” and I wont @#$ in your mouth.

  • bahhhhhhhh

You're stupid. Pasta backs The Show so hard because it's not in direct competition with EA, it competes against 2k.

An enemy of an enemy is a friend of pasta's.

  • go kill yourself

Close-minded pieces of shit zombies like you are the reason Madden is garbage year after year in the first place. It doesn't take much to satisfy you as long as they have real players from the NFL. What a joke you are.
