ESPN has posted up an article that goes over nine changes that will be introduced in NCAA Football 11. You can read the article in full here. Included is the first screenshot for the game which can also be viewed full size in the gallery. The screen displays some of the additions that are mentioned. The early info discussed includes:

  • Numbers on helmets
  • On-field referees
  • Tweaked Pro-Tak gang tackling
  • Auto-saves
  • Auto-loading of rosters
  • Formation substitutions
  • New equipment
  • Online Dynasty will have all bowl games played in a single week
  • Dynamic conference logos for when teams move conferences

What do you think about these additions and changes? NCAA Football 10 was packed with features but lacked in gameplay advancements, atmosphere, emotion, and authentic touches. Are these things signs that NCAA 11 will provide improvement in those areas? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

    wow that screen looks good

loving the Online Dynasty having bowl games all played in a single week…the 4 week bowl season before was becoming monotonous…i hope they slow down the game like they did with Madden this year…i also hope they make it more difficult to play defense…as it stands all you have to do is press the WRs in man coverage every play and results will generally be in your favor…

I need to see and hear more about physics and true gameplay improvement…The stuff they are referencing now really has nothing to do with how the game moves, feels and plays on the field. Thats where the true improvement is needed. Last year was the first year in 15 years of NCAA Football that I did not buy the game…They will have to show me more to make me come back.

Same for Madden…This year could potentially be the 1st year I don't buy Madden if they do not make BIG changes

  • Afro

I mean seriously lets look at this nonsense:

    * Numbers on helmets (WOW!!!…Big Improvement…NOT)

    * On-field referees (Has nothing to do with the game)

    * Tweaked Pro-Tak gang tackling (Uh..do they really even have to mention this???)

    * Auto-saves (THis is not new)

    * Auto-loading of rosters (Nothing New)

    * Formation substitutions (Nothing New…Why are they trying to pretend this is innovation?)

    * New equipment (Every Year there is New Equipment…This does not need to be mentioned)

    * Online Dynasty will have all bowl games played in a single week (Who cares if the game sucks?)

    * Dynamic conference logos for when teams move conferences (Yawn…zzzzzzzzzzz)

I dunno EA just doesn't have the personnel to make a game feel fresh or new in terms of physics, gameplay and presentation…Half the shit they are talking about is old re-hashed shit that has been in other versions or its simply fluff that has no bearing on the gameplay…Weak…

  • yardz23

i mean, thats cool, but, shouldn't NCAA '06+ have already had these?

  • Justin L

The screen shot looks really crisp

the srceenshot looks great to me. looks kind of like madden.

  • http://twitter.com/richmond96 Richmond Nelson

they're not trying to say that there innovations, just things that we've been waiting for that have finally been added

  • NICEHANDSLARRY

    FOOOOOOOORRRRRRMMAAATTTTIOOONNNN SSSUUUUUUUUBBBBBBSSSSSSSS

game of the year right here folks

  • catch21_2

The features are kind of boring, yet the screenshot looks great. I was disappointed by 2010, so hopefully this year's edition will be a big upgrade.

  • gomagic

Everyone keep in mind this isnt some sort of final list. Its just some of things they adjusted. Im sure there will be entire blogs devoted to other gameplay and presentation changes.

  • http://twitter.com/jlukes7 jlukes

Is that real time lighting with self-shadowing?

  • robert

Same as always. NCAA gets last years madden features, and then reintroduces features that existed 6 years ago and then calls it new.

    numbers on helmets…formation subs..auto save…

but I am a sucker for equipment and love those additions.

  • Ian Cummings

who cares!! The EA hype machine is in full effect .You fools keep falling for it.Waittill the first Madden screenshot .You fools will fall for it again.

  • J-Kits

    Exactly

  • J-Kits

I do feel like referees and formation subs is long overdue, so the excitement factor for that just isn't there for me anymore. But Im still glad it'll be in '11. I just wish EA would start w/ necessity in their games instead of sell factor w/ the new gen games. Hence NBA Live, NCAA & Madden's same issues we face for the last 4 yrs. Just my thoughts, LATA

I like the Pro-tak and formation subs. But I better hear about the NCAA 09 camera angle coming back. I hated the camera options in both Madden and NCAA last year. Biggest reason I got rid of them.

  • ahr19

Formation subs is a nice addition. I am interested in the camera angles you can choose which is important to me and also making it more difficult to play in away games. I also think they should add some sort of show (A la what they have in OFFLINE Madden Franchise) to ONLINE Dynasty. Something about the last week's user games as well as Heisman Races, etc.

  • Badluck

    that is a GREAT idea
its a shame its probably too late for them to add something like that

  • IndyColts2

You guys need to chill, you all obviously can't read and comprehend well. The guy clearly stated that these are features that should have been in the game, they aren't “new and innovative”, they are “new” meaning new to next gen NCAA. Also, you are acting like these are the only features they are going to have..He also clearly stated that these are small features and they will be talking about more features later on. Stop jumping ship whenever NCAA or Madden comes out with its first blog and it doesn't have a list of 30 features and gameplay enhancements of the bat. NCAA 11 is already looking like the Madden 10 we just had, and yea you guys are right about one thing, NCAA always gets things a year behind, but it's fine cause they aren't just shoving the features in, they are actually tweaking them…

  • bob

Man, people are commenting on here like these are the only new things being added to the game. Relax, theres still plenty of time before the game comes out.

Another thing I don't get, why do people complain about lack of realism, then complain when they do something like numbers on helmets or more equipment.

  • IndyColts2

    exactly..

  • bobojr61

man if it is like madden was gameplay wise and with a bunch of new features this games gunna be insane. the screen looks amaazin!

Who cares about all this crap?!? Dynamic logos? Sure, it might look nice, but what happens when you score a game winning touchdown? Do your players just saunter off the field like they're sleep-walking?

Formation subs is huge, I'll admit. That omission was inexcusable. And on field officials is also a nice plus. But the NCAA team has a long way to go before I spend a penny on their game.

Let's see the emotion on and off the field. Let's get players fired up about the game. Let's get a coach mode that reflects real on and off field responsibilities.

Agreed. Its February though! Plenty of time to get to those things. If it turns out they haven't improved on the weak areas then criticism would be due then.

  • Dcu

Stop hatin on Ncaa football 11. thank you ea for the improvement on the little things… So far so good just keep up the good news till July 13, 2010

  • floridagatorfan

sounds promising. I was extrememly dissappointed last year, with the direction things went, but hopefully gameplay is a big focus this year.

I want so badly for this franchise to make a great football game

  • se7enxlfx

    graphics look real good
but the need the engine that backbreaker has it would shut out any game that comes out this year but i dout that have it or will have it its like they want to tease you knowing they can do all these things but they dont

  • JohnZapp

pasta any word on espn and such in the game?????

  • zuludude

I hope the community understands this. I don't play NCAA but these are the things that Madden and NCAA gamers should be interested in: online and offline gameplay physics. Period. Everything else is just the sticker on the package.

  • the joker 260

screen looks nice shoulda had player names on the back, nice change up of shoes

  • dagamesta

    Right on brotha!

  • pizzaman7294

hasnt teams like Alabama had the numbers on the helmet for awhile now?

  • GeorgeCostanza

cant wait to see how old and antiquated these games look when put next to backbreaker

  • juan deleon

i like the team colored nikes and knee bands

    • Zach West

It says a lot more information is to come, I know last year they started off with FG nets and wind socks, this is a big step up. Maybe this year NCAA got hooked up the way Madden did last year. I just hope they slow the game down, that will help gameplay more than anything. I was sad EA will not make a NCAA basketball game but not anymore it sucked anyway, yeah!

  • BU1B22

apparently u dont care much for realism in ncaa football…a lot of people have been complaining for a few years about getting some of those things in like formation subs and uniform detail. and just because they havent mentioned gameplay here, doesnt mean they havent altered it

  • turkey86

Madden? Madden 10 was one of the best madden game. Probably thee best. What game were you playing? 09?

  • GoBraves123

I thought they had numbers on the helmets already?

  • skihawks

A rep at GameStop said that NCAA 11 is getting much love from EA this year. Can't wait to hear what else EA is doing to improve NCAA…

I was glad to see EA include team-specific end zones for bowls in NCAA 10 but I would like to have several alternates and allow the user to choose which one is represented in the bowl games. I also hope that EA includes classic teams, uniforms and team-specific entrances this year…

  • james

    yeah it really does.

  • james

    100% right

  • righton

    lolol

  • joe

check out the outrageous looking shoulder pads, and think again

  • Amen Ra

OF course you can be 100% certain that's not gameplay…

  • Afro

Man Formation subs are NOTHING new…They were in Madden 5 years ago…The question is how many glitches will accompany them now that they finally added them to NCAA 6 years later…This is some grade A BS…I actually love EA games but the shit they try to pull on us is straight FELONIOUS

  • Afro

Screw graphics..I'm tired of EA's “Style over Substance” business model

  • Zach

It says a lot more information is to come, I know last year they started off with FG nets and wind socks, this is a big step up. Maybe this year NCAA got hooked up the way Madden did last year. I just hope they slow the game down, that will help gameplay more than anything. I was sad EA will not make a NCAA basketball game but not anymore it sucked anyway, yeah!

  • TacoJoe

If you stop thinking about what a game should have had and look at what it has, you would be better off. No matter what EA does someone will say how stupid it is.
