For anyone planning to make attempts at winning the $1 million perfect game contest in MLB 2K10 it is important to be aware of the rules. You will not qualify by simply throwing a perfect game. Instead you must meet all the requirements which include beginning the recording from before the TV is even turned on and avoiding pausing the game or making a mound visit. There is some subjectivity to this as well as any video recording deemed to be “low quality” will be thrown out. Continue on to read up on the rules.

  • Xbox 360 and PS3 Only
  • Residents of Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota, and Vermont are ineligible
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • The contest beings at the turn of Tuesday March 2nd Pacific Time and runs through May 1st.
  • If there is a winner they will not be announced until June.
  • Must be authorized account holder of the XBL or PSN account logged into while the perfect game is pitched.
  • After completing the perfect game the entry form must be completed here.

A video of the game in its entirety will need to be sent in for verification with the specifics precisely followed below or the entry will be disqualified.

  • Recording must begin at least 5 seconds prior to turning on television and Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
  • Recording must show the full boot up sequence of the videogame console.
  • Recording must show the user logged onto PSN/Xbox Live prior to commencement of Perfect Game attempt.
  • Recording must be recorded with sufficient clarity and resolution such that all text displayed upon selecting “Perfect Game Mode” is clearly visible and legible in the recording, along with the button icon which appears during an ‘Accept or decline challenge’ prompt. Prior to attempting to complete and record a Perfect Game, eligible entrants should run a test recording to insure that the recording quality is sufficient. SUBMISSIONS ACCOMPANIED BY LOW QUALITY RECORDINGS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
  • Recording must be completely uninterrupted for the entirety of the Perfect Game.
  • Upon the completion of the Perfect Game, a verification code will be displayed on the screen. The video recording must be of sufficient resolution such that the entire screen is visible and the verification code is completely legible.
  • The video recording submission must be transmitted to 2K on a DVD using one of the following file formats: AVI, MPG, MOV, MPG, MPG 2, MP4, WMV, FLV and must be capable of fitting in entirety on a single DVD. Entrants should make two copies, one for submission, and one for their personal records. Sponsor will only accept physical copies of the recording, and all submissions become property of Sponsor. Write your Verification Code, Name, and Gamertag/PSN ID in permanent marker on your submission disc.

In addition to the video recording requirements the following gameplay requirements are necessary to avoid being disqualified.

  • User must be online and logged onto Xbox Live/PSN during the Perfect Game attempt.
  • User must play the game in the Perfect Game Mode under the MLB Today menu option and must use the pitcher set to start for entrant’s team that day under MLB Today menu (entrants cannot substitute a pitcher not scheduled to pitch on that day according to that day’s MLB Today roster).
  • User may not pause or interrupt the game at any time during the entirety of the Perfect Game and may not engage in delaying tactics (for example, standing pitcher on the mound and not throwing a pitch or taking any game action for 60 consecutive seconds).
  • User must throw a perfect game without making any pitching substitutions and must not make any mound visits with their manager during the course of the Perfect Game. Submitted games which include a mound visit shall be immediately disqualified.
  • User must throw the Perfect Game using Total Control Pitching and Total Control Hitting control schemes. These control schemes will automatically be set to default when entering the MLB 2K10 Contest Mode. You may not pause the game and change them during the Perfect Game attempt.

pretty obvious no one is going to win the million. they can find a reason to void any perfect game that gets sent in

    • crazyharry

someones probably gonna win, does anyone know if anyone has won or sent in a perfect game video yet??

IK, no mound visits or pauses? WTF? What if I need to go to the bathroom? A perfect game will do that to you. LOL.

  • tunes522

yep…pretty sure this 'contest' is set up in a manner which would NOT allow for a winner…pretty much the most ridiculous thing i've seen in a long while…not only do you need a camera with great quality, but you will need to reset your system and TV in between each attempt…have the ability to convert video files and burn DVDs (not just a data CD) with your PC…and the perfect games only count if they occur in the special 'Perfect Game' game mode…which leads me to believe that while a perfect game may occur during a regular game in play now or franchise mode, the settings are probably tweaked in 'Perfect Game' mode in a manner that would make pitching a perfect game impossible…if you want to take the consumer for a ride, you really don't have to be so obvious about it…

  • 2k rocks

I think somebody will win. it's not that hard!! and officials will be watching the video

  • fred

Why do people automatically assume that it is rigged so no one will win? When you're giving away 1,000,000 dollars, theres going to be a ton of rules to close off any loopholes

  • Otis

Twin Galaxies is reviewing the tapes, and a lot of the video rules are from them (i.e. you must start recording 5 seconds prior to turning on the console). The video quality part isn't that subjective- they just say that you need to be able to read the text on the screen, and see the button icons in the recording.

$1M is a lot of money, so I have no problem with them trying to weed out any cheaters so that a legitimate winner is found. There are tons of hackers out there- I mean look at Halo and Modern Warfare 2- there was no money involved and still that game got hacked to pieces.

  • fjkdgfjkfdg

its obvious no1 will win and they will crown a winner by saying some person one. that person will be a member of the 2k society

    • Non-Blown Dude

you blown. i watched the whole fucking video of someone winning. It took 2 hours!

    • Non-Blown Dude

  • Hasheem

No winner named until June, so even if someone does throw one in March (for example), they would still withhold the fact that someone has already won and use this as an opportunity to gain even more sales? Wow, sad contest for a sad company. Can't even be upfront about winners.

  • sroeland

    “LOW QUALITY RECORDINGS”

Nice to know what that actually means…such an easy cop-out.

“I'm sorry, we couldn't read the last letter of the sentence on the screen. Therefore, you do not win.”

This is a silly, cheap way to basically say “We can't say for sure that our game will be good or not, but buy it to try (in vain) to win $1 million!”

  • tunes522

wonder if they will void your submission if you write your verification code, name, and gamertag/PSN ID in pen as opposed to permanent marker as the rules state…

  • DarthObvious

So your saying I can't just record the game directly onto a DVD with my DVD recorder?

  • tunes522

    EXACTLY…

  • tunes522

my guess is that would not work because they won't be able to see you manually turn on the TV…as the rules state you need to start recording at least 5 seconds before you turn on your television…with a DVD recorder, i could be mistaken, but i don't believe you will be able to show the fact that you actually are turning on your own television…

  • turkey86

you get 60 seconds to piss.

  • Scott

You Show fanboys are hilarious. It's a million dollars we're talking about here. They have every right to set rules to make sure nobody cheats.

Get over yourselves. You're not as smart as you think you are

  • Kevin

Wonder if you'll need to send in a urine sample as well to prove you weren't on anything that might help advance your chances of completing a perfect game.

  • Mykal94

No time to wash hands then, I guess.

    • Danny

screw washing hands perfect game is more important

  • Mykal94

… and you'll need a good quality video of that too

  • tunes522

i own a 360…and i own MLB 2K9…haven't decided whether i will buy MLB 2K10 yet, and obviously i can't buy The Show…but when something smells like bullshit…its probably bullshit…

Mlb 2k10 is a real gimmick. First they advertised a free fathead if you reserved the game leading people to believe that every pre oder has one. If you pre ordered it you had an 8% chance of getting one. My understanding was after years of making crappy baseball games 2k wanted people to buy cause of the fathead and then realize this is alright and it buy for the next year. Games luike this and tunes 522 pretty much sums up the million dollar thing. buy game based on if it's good or not npt on a fantasy. I wish I had the ps3 so i could get a quality baseball game!

  • Plano4Lyfe

Tha only reason I would rent or get this garbage of a game I cause of tha million $!!!

  • jmbrew420

Off topic, but has anyone ever got rtts on mlb 09 to get past 3rd year. This is my fourth career that just stops and goes to xmb, before patches it was sep 15, since patch nov 15…….game doesnt work. Countless hrs down the drain each time only to be devastated time and time again. Any input would be appreciated.

  • tunes522

what are you talking about? MW2 online game lobbies aren't overrun with cheaters, glitchers, hackers, and boosters…people play for the love of the game not to boost their imagined 'rep'…haha

  • sandul

I don't think i ever had an issue…. though once I had a corrupted file, but that could have been any reason.

  • sandul

Hey I hope it's not bullshit, i hope someone wins a million bucks, but it doesn't say what “perfect game mode” means.

It could mean you're a pirates pitcher vs. the yankees. have fun :)

And it's in its own mode… that could easily mean that they've rigged it to get a miracle base hit in the bottom of the 9th… I hope someone wins though and proves everyone wrong lol

  • sandul

sure.. it's black, you hold the remote up to the camera, press the power button, the tv comes on… you turn on the xbox/ps3 by bending down and showing the camera what you're doin, etc.

it's not rocket science, but think about it…. every time you fuck up in the game… you have to TURN OFF the TV, do everything ALL over again… they're making it tedious and annoying on purpose.

  • sandul

lol, maybe in the console world… but on PC… it's a whole nuther story.

a dude was sittin in a corner with a grenade launcher machine gun spraying it all over the map racking up kills… hacks happen in PC, it's inevitable since Activision won't give us dedicated servers with anti-hacking software…

  • sandul

I'm sure you can pitch a perfect game, they just add all of those tedious and very specific rules to the contest to keep the player base down and the odds of never finding a winner higher.

    just like the lottery.

  • tunes522

i think the pitching matchups are based upon the real-life starters for that day…but i could be wrong…and possibly the team matchups are based on that too…it is a little shady that you can't even take a look at the options to see how they are set up…sure would be easy for 2K to tweak the game mode making it more difficuly across the board…though, it could also be in its own game mode so that your USER settings are not uploaded automatically into the game…who knows…

  • tunes522

i was being sarcastic…hacks are just as rampant on the 360…

    I CANT BELIEVE THIS HAHAHAHA
March 1, 2010 – Madden fans should expect to purchase digital content this season.

Speaking today at the Morgan Stanley Technology conference in San Francisco, EA Sports president Peter Moore talked about the current and future plans for the company. In the short term, he said he's most excited to see its digital business thrive on several of its key sports titles, including Madden.

“I think we need to move much quicker, in particular with Madden, through a digital world,” Moore stated. “You're going to see more announcements there how we digitize our Madden consumer.”

Moore later noted that while the EA Sports has dropped major support for the PlayStation 2, which has weakened overall Madden sales, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game sales have picked up. He also the company's digital plans seen in its other titles could be on the way to Madden as well.

“What we're starting to do now is actually start to see growth on next-gen platforms, and perhaps more importantly you're going to see digital subscriptions, digital microtransactions; all those things that we seem to be able to drive hard against all our franchises, against the Madden consumer.”

Moore stated that every iteration of Madden typically sells around six million units. The company is looking at ways to generate more revenue from that install base every year.

“What you should be looking for from me is 'How do I get an extra $4 or $5 dollars?', which is high margin digital revenue from that install base rather than continue to sell more packaged goods,” he said.

Later on, Moore also described the struggles with keeping fans from quickly trading in their sports titles every year and discussed how digital content can keep a title going.

“It keeps the disc in the drive longer, it stalls trading the game in, it allows me to be able to take further advantage of that consumer over a longer period of time,” he said. “Even if we do get second sales, we see that as an opportunity to drive digital margins.”

“Sports games, because their seasonality runs out, are always something tempting to trade in. We've got to be able to build business models around allowing that consumer to trade it in and then monetize them,” he added

“We're certainly going to do a lot of that this year.”

  • sandul

    lol

  • sandul

hey it's a business, and i appreciate his cold honesty that all he thinks of us is a consumer who he wants to suck just a little more dry.

  • http://www.mathewballard.com mathewballard

It's good to see them taking all precautions to make sure no one cheats. Although I'm curious to see if someone will find a way to do so.

  • palmer08

It's already hard to do a perfect game and it will be also hard to prove that you do it.

  • Jd

yes someone will find a loophole but then 2k and twin galaxies can scream low quality vid.

  • lollerskates

I'm going to make a video and send it to them, with me turning on the TV, logging in, starting the game in 'Perfect Game' mode, throwing a perfect game into the 2nd inning…

…then BAM…slowly my penis will enter the picture from the left side.

Just so some douche at 2K will have to watch it.

I had just recently watched the documentary “King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters” where Steve Wiebe tries to break Billy Mitchell's King Kong record. Twin Galaxies just came off shady as can be during his attempts. Tearing apart the motherboard in his arcade console, and invalidating his records for any reason possible. Steve Wiebe still persevered and ultimately broke his record in a public venue that Twin Galaxies hosted.

Sure enough Because Billy Mitchell had long standing ties with Twin Galaxies he got to submit an extremely low quality tape that even cut out at points, and Twin Galaxies was so excited they waived there 24 hour review period to anoint the record seconds after the tape quit recording.

Whether they Hollywoodized up a documentary or not, I don't trust Twin Galaxies one bit.

  • okafor43

I wont have to worry about the rules pasta cause I will be too busy playing the show!! lol

  • http://www.mathewballard.com mathewballard

Video quality shouldn't be a problem for someone. Pretty much all cameras can put out a good quality video and it isn't like you have to upload it somewhere. Your sending it to them on a DVD.

    Perfect Idea. Absolutely Flawless

  • Amen Ra

Now this is some funny shit!!!!!

  • gobengals

plus you dont even get the full million after taxes I would say it goes down at least 455 grand

    • BigPappaJ

Wow, heres an idiot that has no idea what hes talking about. Take an economics course fag.

      • me

Here’s an idiot that doesn’t realize gobengals is fairly correct. Same rought concept as the lottery; take the lump-sum amount (after the government’s share) vs. payments over a certain time period (also after the government’s share). It’s a basic time value of money concept.

        • CT

you still wouldn’t lose 455 thousand. yes you would lose some but that is an extreme amount unless he is being facetious.

          • domedepot

haha, actually you lose about 30% so for you retards who dont know youd lose about 300G’s, and im assuming you lose a little more than that so youll be coming out in the 600G’s somewhere, but why would you complain, thats a shit ton of money for you weiners who dont do anything but game all day
