MLB 10: The Show Videos

As I continue to play the new baseball titles and collect general and online impressions I’ve also recorded some videos  from MLB 10: The Show that I figured would be worth posting up, especially given that the demo did not even come out this week. In this group of videos there are two focusing on gameplay, one with an inning of Rangers @ Mariners and the other a stretch of action with the Reds @ Marlins. There is also a video with an appearance in Road to the Show and a run through of the Home Run Derby. Continue on to check out the videos and leave your thoughts in the comments!

Gameplay-wise, MLB 10 is, in my opinion, the best sports game out there.

But the Franchise and RTTS modes have some pretty major bugs that need fixing. Thankfully, the devs know the problems and have fixes identified. Let's hope a patch gets out ASAP.

  • Mike

    hey pasta couple questions

i struggled with hittin hr last yr and really hittin in general in franchise mode (idk y) has that been fixed and what is the scores 2 most of ur games?

and have you played online yet…is there still a ton of lag….thx!

  • Trojan92

The game looks amazing, but the missing backstop netting annoys me. Think this can be fixed via patch?

  • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Its still generally low scoring, but I haven't gotten enough games in to make a determination on it…

Yes not a lot yet, its better, but still not as good as one would hope.

    • t. daley

The reason why its low scoring is that the batting camera angle is so bad that its extremely difficult the judge when the ball is at the plate. Leave it to 2k to come up with some whack BS to make up for their inabilities to make a batting interface work. 2k is still garbage and its a complete waste of blog space talking about this game. 2k needs to put this game on Hiatus along with Hockey, for sure.

  • jbonax

is anyone else having “jitters” in some of the graphics in MLB 10 the Show? or is it me? or perhaps do I need to reinstall it on Playstation3? It's not bad but happens when the camera tries to capture a foul ball down the line toward the dugout/bullpens.

  • Steven

Looks unrealistic….no way Florida ever has that many people at their games. :-)

  • edoneHB

Am I the only one who doesnt like to play with midgets? WTF you guys are blind….what looks great? Oh maybe you are talking about the jerseys or maybe the stadiums cuz all I see is little T-REX arms and Buzz lightyear shoulders…..Maybe i dunno! Fools

  • Amen Ra

yeah Franchise mode is a joke atm

  • Mykal94

Has anybody hit a 500 ft. homerun yet? The farthest I got was 496 ft. with Mark Reynolds in a HRD in Fenway.

i switched from 360 to PS3 at Christmas for several reasons, this game a key reason. I am so glad i made this switch i love this game. My RTTS catcher is a work in progress, but the catching is fun, albeit taking more time than any other position in RTTS. My first game (braves and phillies, i was the braves at home) came down to the 10th inning while it was tied 2-2. i had a runner on first and third with one out and had a lot of momentum. Melky Cabrera comes up to bat and i take the first pitch, fastball away, ball. the next pitch was a slider right down the middle just hanging like an apple from a tree. i swung and barely hit it over the outstretched glove of Jayson Werth at the wall for a walk-off 3 run homer. i did it with a contact swing and it seems that contact swings are more consistant and actually seem to produce more for me because base hits gain momentum and you can still hit homers if you swing at the right time. the presentation is great and i love you can save highlight reels to your PS3 videos library. this is truly the best baseball game i have ever experienced. (p.s. if you pay attention at the beginning, it says the game is made to run at 720p so it is best to run it at that, i did and it seemed better playing at 720p than 1080i, just a tip)

  • Mike

    thanks…keep up the gd work

  • Al Leiter

The game does look good but the animations are bad and the face that all the players look like they have short arms makes them look like migdets.

  • Just Give Up

You're seein' what you wanna see. The rest of us, which happen to be sane, see the game for what it is – the most realistic representation of major league baseball – graphically and gameplay wise.

  • gamesbad

    commentary is soooooo bad….. jesus….

  • What ?

Animations are bad ? Be more specific. You're fuckin' insane for sayin' that. The animations are one of the highest points for this game.

  • ray

Chris Davis hit a 473 ft dinger off Grienke at Kauffman Stadium in KC(Spring Training)

  • ray

wish they fix the bug by Monday, played a game TEX/KC……Podsednik hit a double off a Feldman, but it says that he hit a HR, i was playing a season mode…anyone else had this happened?

  • DjNunez

how long do u want their arms to be

  • Jerz88

The gameplay is boring. Pitching meters and button mashing and non responsive fielding. It's not even the best baseball again let alone the best sports game.

    • t. daley

Yeah I really see how moving the right analog stick back and forth to bat is so much more exciting than pressing the “X” and “square” button. Same goes for the pitching too. I played the 2k demo last night and I was appalled at how much the series continues to regress.

This game is so bad that it cant even compete with baseball titles on the PSone. The graphics are horrendous by next gen standards, the game play is bland, the crowd is dull and lack luster and the batting camera angle is as annoying as annoying can get. The only positive thing I can say about this game is the commentary and that was absent from the demo. You saying that the show isnt the best baseball game available is the eqivalent to saying the world is flat.

Its OK if you like 2k but don’t be a moron and try to wax intellectual that The Show isn’t the best baseball game out. You just make yourself look like a tard.

      • Anonymous

??? Honestly, I’m disappointed with the Show this year. They improved some presentation elements that were lacking, but with a full year to work on the game, it seems like the developers got lazy. There’s nothing really new that shows that they tried to honor the fans’ requests. The commentary is still lacking, which is one thing that makes a huge difference in the presentation. There’s just no flow when you can tell the three announcers were in the recording booths at separate times, and most of the lines were recycled from previous years. The player models are still too bulky, and for the most part, their shoulders are out of proportion. And as much as I hate to say it, the pitcher/batter battle just isn’t as fun as 2k10. Granted, they did improve the accuracy on the meter (if you mess up the meter, you throw a wild pitch, etc.) but it’s just not as fun.

Of course, I also have to say that fielding is still much better and the animations are much smoother in the Show. There is no question about that. But again, the fact that 09 really had no serious problems should have left them ample time to add some new features and gameplay elements to spice it up.

  • Jerz88

The length of a humans, not something from Jurassic Park.

Graphics are washed out like FIFA.

  • Jerz88

=Graphics in this game sucks ass. The player models stink. The same dumb canned cut scenes and a broken RTP. What's new here? $60 for a roster upgrade.

Devs, what have you been doing all year? Stop posting shit on OS and start working on the next game.

  • Jerz88

Pasta, do some side by sides of the games. would be cool.

  • Jd

Im sick of all the MLB the show 10 coverage i get it its a good I mean great no I mean awesome game thing is I can't afford a fucking ps3 when I got an xbox so just hush it already we know its a great game.

  • Jason

I've seen it stutter just a little every once in a while between plays. Usually focusing on the pitcher walking around the mound or something to that effect

  • umm

OMG The players are extremely tiny little people and the field is the size of Alaska.

    WTF is up with that?

  • umm

Wow and the home run derby sucks ass.

They show replays of teammates jumping up and down but not of the home run? ummmmm

  • funny shiz

ahahaha pasta took away the ability to see how many people liked each comment cuz everyone was liking the comments that disagree with pasta's opinion *cough* EA nuthugger *cough*

  • Adam

Player models are horrible on this game,i dont even think i could play this game because of that. Every guy, even guys that way 165 to 170 looks like they way 275+ or has Mark Mcgwires 90s build.
I usually dont put too much stock into stuff like that but Damn.

  • clint eastwood

Get better TVs if you think people are short. The game looks great on mine..

  • clinteastwood

Thats not 500 ft is it? Its not even as long as the posters so why mention it. Ive hit a ton that have gone 470..high five little guy..

  • clinteastwood

Jesus actually approves of the commentary…better than Kruk any day…oh and he wanted me to tell you to stop touching yourself all the time…thanks

  • clint eastwood

Living in poverty is sad. We should set up gov't funding for all you under privlidged kids that only have Xbox. The amount of people complaining..boo hoo

  • clint eastwood

What does EA have to do with the show? So if we are just saying random things..your moms a whore and I dont like the color green. But mainly youre moms a whore.

  • clint eastwood

Maybe go to the doctor because you may be retarded..just pointing out the obvious…sorry bud bud..

The “Like” button is right next to the Reply button you troll. Only thing missing is a thumbs down so anyone could negate you and your witless comments.

  • dagamesta

It's his opinion you stinky douche bag! In my opinion you are a piece of crap.

  • edude

Finally got my PS3 this week and started playing The Show.

Gotta say, it's the best, most complete sim baseball game I've ever encountered. Especially refreshing after being stuck in 2K land on the 360.

Yes, like any piece of technology, the game has a few little things that are quirked (very minor), but nothing that affects the outcome of a game or something that causes an “unrealistic” meltdown during gameplay.

Plus there's so much to explore in the game. So glad I stepped up to the PS3 plate.

  • you're dumb

Wow, are you f'n kidding me??

  • skihawks

The game does replay home runs…Not to mention, the camera lends to the feeling of how far you hit the ball….Not a fan of the teammate replays but if they weren't in there someone would bitch about that too

  • teemo

I can't score in this damn game !!

  • t. daley

AMAZING??????????????????? WTF ARE YOU LOOKING AT. THIS GAME DOESNT EVEN EXCEED PSONE STANDARDS.

  • t. daley

I know your not talking about MLB2k. There is absolutely nothing more realistic about 2k baseball over the show and to make such an idiotic comment clearly reflects the fact that you have never even played nor seen The Show.

I knew 2k fans were tools but they have reached the all time moronic level now.

  • t. daley

Yes, because you are now playing a realistic baseball game where batting timing is really realistic unlike the meatballs being pitched in 2k. Also 2k doesnt have the distinction between power swing and normal swing. Power swings in MLB require even better timing than normal swings.

I also find it much harder this year to hit the yellow line on the pitch meter and missing it is more penalizing than in previous years thus resulting in more walks per game.

  • t. daley

The reason for you producing more with contact swings is that the timing to hit the ball is much tighter for power swings than in contact swings. In MLB 07:The show, they used to have a meter to show you where the optium swing area was for each batter. It was a geen area and the better batter naturally had bigger range. That area naturally gets smaller when using a power swing so as to make it more difficult with greater rewards if you hit it in the spot.

They dont have that meter anymore but I imagine that it is still represented that way even though it isn't visible to you. Therefore contact swings are more forgiving if you don't have perfect timing as opposed to the power swing.

  • t. daley

    You are incorrect.

  • t. daley

There is a difference between Opinion and FACT! His was neither.

  • t. daley

You cant afford $299 for a PS3? Son I think you have bigger problems than worrying about coverage on a video game. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you are a failure in life and cant afford a 300 dollar console. You are truly sad. Of course if you are a child then I appologize and would say STFU, adults are talking here.

  • swizz

unless they fix the online lag in tis 1 i will keep my money

  • sandul

um, they fixed it, havent' you been paying attention? i've played several games, 99% lag free, occasional hiccup, but never affected gameplay
