MLB 2K10 Gameplay and My Player Videos

As I continue to play the new baseball titles and collect general and online impressions I’ve also recorded some videos from MLB 2K10 that I figured would be worth posting up. In this group of videos there are two focusing on gameplay, one with the first inning of Padres @ Diamondbacks and the other an inning of Astros @ Pirates. There is also a video with my first appearance made in My Player mode in the pressure situation. Continue on to check out the videos and leave your thoughts in the comments!

i own 2K9..and i'm a huge baseball fan…the game was actually so bad…it became a guilty pleasure to play it because it was almost comical the things that would happen…for example, if i had a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth…it was almost GUARANTEED that the CPU would hit a deep fly ball and my outfielder would drop it three consecutive batters in a row before the 4th batter would come up and hit a walk-off homerun…haha…it is what it is…unfortunately, i have a 360…and i'm still on the fence about whether to buy 2K10 or not…

That zoom throwing thing is real real sweet… I bought a PS3 just for The Show but I haven't started a RTTS yet. Waiting for prospect names, but man. This mode looks fun.

While I can see that the The Show has better graphics than this game, I'm really impressed by all the videos I've seen of MLB2K10. It doesn't look or play nearly as horrible as I would think after reading so many negative posts. That double play Pasta pulled with the Astros was pretty nice.

Honestly AT THIS POINT IN TIME I am very upset about my purchase of MLB The Show. Franchise mode and the rosters are pure trash. I started a franchise last night and simmed a year to see what would happen. Adrian Gonzalez, Roy Oswalt, MArk Texeira and countless other superstars were placed on waivers and picked up by other teams. Stars line Evan Longoria and others all dropped 10 points due to low potential ratings. This game sucks for anything other than a play now game (actual game play is sweet). I can't believe so many people are dick riding this game.

2k10 scored a 7 (6.7 last year) on Ign and The Show scored an 8.9 (8.7 last year). enough said.

the only thing that 2k10 might be beating The Show at is the songs that come with the game. The Show has only nine songs and other than Its Nice to Know You Work Alone-Silversun Pickups and Rules-We Are Scientists(Come Down Halo ain't bad either, forgot who sings it) the song selection kinda sucks (you can add your own so its not a really big advantage at all.) Other than that, The Show has 2k beat

Basically – The Show is better. I don't even see how people argue this. I have played both games and it's not even close. One is a baseball simulation and the other is a childish game.

I tend to agree with your first paragraph Amen Ra (haven't played The Show yet so I can't judge the second). Of all the videos I've seen of MLB 2K10, I'm having a hard time seeing where all the negative feedback is warranted. Granted I'm going off of videos and not hands on play, but I'm actually a bit taken by surprise by what I've seen here and a few other places.

Also, I like the way the rewards points are granted at the end of the game in the My Player mode. IMO it helps to show how you are getting skills points and not just being assigned an arbitrary number across a number of tasks.

A 7 from IGN, enough said? I can't whole heartedly agree with that. Reviews are given by individuals, individuals expressing their own opinion. And you know what they say about opinions…As with movies, I've learned that I've been better off seeing for myself versus taking reviewers opinions as bottom line or end all be all. Now, that's not to say that I'd go out and see a movie that is bombing across the board or for that matter get a game despite it being rated a 5, but something like this that at least looks good and has fairly good reviews I think warrants a personal playing.

why r show fanboys in here…i think its hilarious how last year, everytime 2k was needing a patch for baseball, or that 2k basketball was getting a patch, the show or nba live fanboys would scream that the game is horrible JUST because it needs a patch…well considering 1 day after release and the show already needs a pretty significant release, i think the almighty show that everybody says is so amazing, well….isnt so amazing.

MLB 2K10 is just fun baseball, it's nothing like THE SHOW, you can't compare. Yes there both baseball games but that's really about it. THE SHOW is great looking and plays very realistic/boring and MLB 2K10 has a broadcast feel and a bit arcade like which is fun.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

PS3 Owners – THE SHOW (It utilizes the system much better and is made for the PS3, it's a good game)

XBOX360 Owners – MLB2K10 (It might be the only SHOW in town but just like the opposing game, this game was made for the 360, better graphics and smoother game, it caters to XBOX owners)

I agree you can't compare… with 2k you get a more “casual” experience, alogn with higher scoring games. With the show there's alot more frustration (due to the realism of the hitting), and lower scoring more technical games. After playing both I've realized if I pitch a great game and bat well it's a garaunteed win in 2k10, but not necessarily a win in The Show (hence the frustration).

wow. even though i love The Shoow and it seems like i've been hating on 2k (cuz i had to put up with 2k for 4 years….) this game actually looks impressive…. the My Player mode looks fun too. i know 4 people who went to exchange the game for 2k10….people are pissed that they spent 60 dollars on a rehash of last year. even on the psp the menus are the only thing changed. still that same old boring ass matt vas whatever his name is. defend the show all you want….im guessing its only because you feel like an ass for buying a ps3 just for a baseball game knowing damn well xbox is better in every way except bluray. and from personal experience 2 ps3 systems ruined, due to the shit bluray they throw in.
