MLB 2K10 Patch Completed For 360

While MLB 10: The Show gamers lament the fact that a patch won’t even start being worked on until the end of the month, 2K Sports has announced that they have completed a patch for MLB 2K10 and have submitted it to Microsoft for certification. That means it should be arriving within the next two weeks barring complications in the certification process.

Details on what the patch entails have not been provided. Hopefully it includes toned down fielder arm strength, will fix the issue preventing online ranked games from being played, and improves (or maybe better stated adds) manager AI in My Player mode. There are many other areas that could be enhanced through a patch but those have been the most frequently cited.

It is worth noting that the statement made was specific about it being a 360 patch and no information has been made public about the PS3. This could be an indication that 2K does not plan to patch the PS3 (they left NHL 2K10 gamers on the PS3 out in the cold) or that it just wasn’t as much of a priority to rush this initial feedback response patch out for that console due to the lower number of sales. I would have trouble imagining the MLB would allow their exclusive third party provider to favor one console over the other though so hopefully a patch for the PS3 will be announced as completed very soon.

I cant believe. Im about to say. That 2K is the company. Providing the better support. Instead of SCEA. Props to them it looks like realizing sales have taken a huge hit that they know they have to get better.

    • mattcolby

Well, not to play the devil’s advocate here, but 2K had absolutely nowhere to go but up. And wait and see what the patch actually fixes before you start singing their praises. I don’t think a patch for either game is going to fix the issues everyone is complaining about. Do you really think that some light dinged on all the sudden with the developers and they realized how to fix the AI issues in two weeks that they couldn’t fix in several months of developement?

Kudos to 2K for making a decent game this year, but let’s not go crazy here and act like they suddenly have the better service and product.

  • juduking

Here, Here JJHawke, I agree full hardheartedly.

  • gregg

wait are you trying to tell me that not all development teams take a months vacation RIGHT AT release time? im stunned!

  • okafor43

They didnt patch the ps3 yet cause they know they couldnt sell atleast 100 copies of the game with the show being on that platform. lol

  • nice

    Yes I have to agree.

I have been very impressed with the strides they have made with this game this year and this is just another building block to change the perception of about this game.

  • very nice

Operation Sports has a really good poll up on their site right now that goes along exactly with what I've been saying about how the companies cater too much to online players and have been neglecting franchise mode.

    Here it is:

Which of the following aspects of a game is the most important to you?

    Graphics & Animations 8.17%
    Presentation 3.27%
    Gameplay 63.76%
    Franchise 22.62%
    Online Modes (all aspects) 2.18%

I think it's easy to see why Madden has fallen off a cliff and people are so upset with the game (and EA games in general). They have neither good gameplay or a good franchise mode.

  • stevvvvvve

last year i got 2k9 i returned the same day.. this year got mlb 2k10 so far im enjoying it … i really dont play online so the problems with the game online doesnt bother me…. i like the franchise part of the game… the gameplay is good and the graphics are a big improvement from last year….. the only problem i have is that when i get into my player mode it doesnt start up n just freezes …so thats my only issue with the game overall…other than that it should win comeback game of the year

  • Peter

What about us with the PC version of the game?? Their better be a patch.

  • Gusto1

Does MLB 2K10 have manager mode?

  • Peter Moore

Bryan… DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!! Your in hot water buddy, we. must. stop this!

How is that free NCAA 10 coming? You like the game or what, I have heard nothing about it.

    With love,

    Dad

  • Mike

Yea, I love how there's no ” classic control ” option in the PC version.. It's so fuckin' stupid..

  • HustlinOwl

Give me a break The Show released a patch the day after release

  • Amen Ra

That fixed what. Only thing working is exhibition games and online. Franchise and RTTS are garbage

  • HustlinOwl

No doubt, but for people to sit here and act like 2K has outdone the SCEA is ludicrous. For all we know these are problems they were well aware of prior to game being released same as SCEA.

Then to only patch 360 wtf

  • Eddd

MLB 10 The Show is currently the better game. However it is clear that 2K is within a year or two, at the outside, of giving The Show a real run for the money. This year Sony seems to be resting on its past laurels; not releasing a demo, sloppy bugs, and no rush to produce a second patch. It would be interesting to know what the install base of the 360 in the US is verses the PS3 is. Given that my intutive sense is that the US is, practically speaking, the sole market for this game. Where might this leave The Show in a couple of years? Sony made a very wise decision several years ago when they delayed releasing The Show until May when it first appeared on the PS3. Because the game was not ready. I frankly believe that this is the foundation of the success that the series has had. They have never released a truely sub standard game. I fear they maybe losing their edge just when 2k has finally got their act together and are ready to take on Sony.

  • t. daley

Why bother patching the PS3 version. What, like 10 people might have bought that version over the Show. LOL.

You do specualte alot, Pasta. In typical 2k fashion, they tell the community nothing and in all likliness, in fine 2k fashion, their patch will probably be BS that doesnt even begin to address the problems.

As far as the show goes. Who gives a flying F@$# if they aren't going to start working on the patch til they get back from vacation. Get a grip on reality. These are people who work hard at their craft and they are entitled to a friggin vacation. Are you people so devoid of a life that your entire existance will be crushed if you cant play MLB:The show Franchise mode?

Give me a F^$%#@^ break already. Play single games or go online. You all are a bunch of spoiled little children who whine all the time. This is nothing new. Every game goes through this but you act as if its some unforgivable tragedy.

  • Amen Ra

Yeah only fixing 360 is very weak. Maybe Sony held them up, if not that is pathetic.

  • Amen Ra

yeah I wouldn't say they outdid them, but The Show has definitely dropped some spots in my “best out” list

  • Amen Ra

If we are a bunch of spoiled childre, who the fuck are you for constantly coming on here to defend something so religiously?!?!? considering you aren't getting paid and the developers don't even know you exist, that makes you just a dick riding bitch!!! Get off the board and take yo punk ass back to your room. you know you only got an hour left before your Mom tells you to get off and let Daddy look for a job.

Regardless what a poll shows, online play has an increased presence because the usage has skyrocketed. Online is huge and absolutely essential for a game to be successful going forward. That doesnt mean other areas need to be neglected. Obviously no one cares how online runs if the gameplay sucks.

  • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

I wouldn't hold my breath. Its taken five months for NBA 2K10 PC to get its patch.

  • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

2K10 had a patch on release day also.

  • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

Baseball is an American sport. PS3/The Show has an advantage because it is region free. But sales are inconsequential overseas.

  • HustlinOwl

what did it address? I didnt read any info on it

  • HustlinOwl

it was a title update not a patch lol

  • rob

This guy cracks me up. The game could not load at the starting screen and he would say: you guys are lucky you even have a blu ray to play it on. The XBOX version is just DVD!! Get a grip and go outside. No one is entitled to play something they purchased!

  • t. daley

Duh! Of course “gameplay” will be the overwhelming concern for any gamer. But one must take into consideration that when 2k released 2 broken games in 2k9 and 2k8, that puts a whole new meaning into “game play”. 2kfanboy just wants a game that he can actually play. LOL

  • t. daley

Yeah Amen and when the bugs are fixed, you will be all over that nut sack once again. Just return the game, get your money back and buy it again when its up to your standards. Dont sit there and rail about how the show has dropped spots in your eyes but you continue to play the game. Your a F$^%@#$ hypocrite just like the rest of the morons who are crying on here. If you think the game is garbage just take it back. Its that simple and you do it in everyday life with other things you are not satisfied in but when it comes to video games you become a complete moron.

  • t. daley

1st off, you must be a complete imbesil for even buying the 2kversion of MLB for the PS3 and secondly wih you and the other 9 morons who bought the game, I dont think patching the PS3 version is a priority and i would say it probably wont get patched at all.

  • t. daley

    MLB2k=standard dvd MLB: the show=bluray

MLB will never be able to compete with the show for the simple reason that they don't have the discspace to compete. With 50GB of space on Bluray Sony has far bigger canvas to create their masterpiece.

Oh btw if you call 2k actually making a game that works being a year or two out from competing with Sony then you are truly drinking the Kool Aid my friend. MLB2k 10 isnt even up to par with MLB2k7.

The graphics are not even PS2 quality. The players dont even play correctly. If you honestly play both games it will be abundantly clear just how poor an effort MLB2k is when compared to MLB:the show.

Just look at the metacritic score. Do you really think that EVERY SINGLE REVIEWER GOT IT WRONG??????????????? REALLY?

  • t. daley

Grow up Amen: If you cant take it, take your punk ass off the board. I know the truth hurts and I dont have to have an agenda to speak what I know is true.

Truthfully you are a moron and a hypocrite. You constantly rail about this game as if the developers at San Diego Studios owe YOU something. They made a game and Sony published it and marketed it and YOU, Me, and thousands of others flocked to buy it. Now the only difference is that I like the game and am patient for Sony to fix the problems where as you are completely being a tool and should just return the game and get your money back.

The truth is that you really do love the game, so much that it bothers you to no end that you have to wait any longer for the patch. This kind of behavior clearly identifies you as a kid. You are probably in your late teens and have no other responsibilities in life other than playing 15 games of franchise a night.

Clearly if you actually had a life you wouldn't have as much time to whine constantly about things you have no control over. Bottom Line: Just ask Mommy for the receipt for the game and take it back to Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, or whereever the hell she bought it from and get your money back. Then be done with it. Either that or Just STFU with all the constant whining. We get it already. You love the game, your unhappy with franchise and RTTS, You cant wait for the patch. Yeah, we get it already……..Amen Ra, not…..happy with the……..game……..check!……..Ok we have it down.

  • t. daley

Wow Rob, I am glad to see your education really paid of in spades. YOUR POST MAKES ABSLUTELY NO SENSE AND HAS NO RELAVANCE TO ANYTHING………EPIC FAIL LOSER.

  • Every non US baseball player

Well pasta i beg to differ. Baseball isn't just an American sport any longer. That is why they held a World Baseball Classic. Perhaps the inclusion of the word “primarily” would have been more appropriate in your post

  • BU1B22

some people r really getting their panties pulled on this…if something isnt working, play something else. they will get to it sooner or later

  • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

That would be the wrong attitude to take, regardless of what game it is. People are paying $60 for a finished product. Not perfect, but finished. That means online games working, franchise mode functional, ect. It is reasonable to expect those things and when they aren't delivered to speak out against it.

  • mattcolby

Since EA has nothing to do with EITHER of these games, this is the most ridiculous, random comment I've read in some time. Thanks for making me smile today. Kind of like when you watch a toddler try to walk only to fall on their ass. It's so cute, yet so sad. You people crack me up!

  • sroeland

The demo for MLB 10: The Show is out today, if anyone's interested.

  • sroeland

The demo for MLB 10: The Show is out today, if anyone's interested.

  • sroeland

Dang, sorry for the double post.

  • hmm

Well yea, it's a given that gameplay would be the overwhelming majority of votes.

But how do you explain franchise mode getting 10 times more votes than Online Modes?

I think it's pretty apparent that people are looking for a good franchise mode when buying sports games and most couldn't give 2 shits about online

  • sad sad day

Yep it wouldn't surprise me if Sony takes their sweet, sweet time with approving and putting out 2k's patch on PS3.

This is getting ridiculous and is a really bad precedent to set for the video game industry

  • t. daley sucks literally

    t. daley better hope none of THe Show game programmers has an std, cuz he's sucked all their dicks.

Uh oh! Time to get tested!

  • Amen Ra

ROFLMFAO!!! man you a funny dude.

  • Amen Ra

You can't take the game back to Gamespot. Plus I got $60 to blow any day of the week, getting my money back ain't high on my priority list.

  • Amen Ra

Dude you looking like a fool, when did I say I bought MLB2K10. I'm going to keep exposing yo dumbass until you get the point, I ain't the one to stunt on.

  • Amen Ra

Oh shit, you mean the thing I paid $60 for ain't the demo? LOL

  • sroeland

Nope, that thing you paid $60 for isn't a demo. It's a Franchise mode beta. Eventually, they'll get it to work – we hope…

  • Jim

will any updates to my player affect careers that have already started? It's been good so far, but almost every game is a complete game. Will an update to fix this kind of problem affect the career i've already started?

  • t. daley

OH just to be clear son. I am the daddy, and have a very good job. That is why i take pleasure in exposing prepubescent tools such as yourself.

When you grow up and you actually make “big boy” money you will realize how moronic you are at crying over a video game. Seriously son, is it that big a deal in your life? Careful how you answer that question, for the answer will reveal quite a bit about you.

Gaming is a hobby and an escape. I dont game to cry about every little fault with a game or whine about how they didn't put what I want into the game.

  • :(

I feel really, really, bad for your kid.

If I knew who you are I'd call Social Services to come take your kid away because you're clearly not mentally stable.
