If they didn't inflate the cost of games to $60 a pop, then less people would buy used games. Should I be punished for buying a used car, too? or a previoulsy owned home? Charging someone to play a used game online is like saying that only new cars are able to drive on the highway unless you pay an extra fee to drive your used car on the highway? You would think that the $60 price tag is enough to cover their used game sales losses (and I am sure that it is). They are just extremely guilty and it is unfortunate.
