NCAA Football 11 Demo Matchup

Through a release of new screenshots (check them out in the gallery) EA Sports has revealed that the NCAA Football 11 demo will feature Ohio State vs Miami. Notably though it has not been explicitly stated if those are the only two teams to choose from as usually the teams included in the demo are from the previous year’s championship game. There doesn’t seem to be a good reason to have gone from Alabama vs Texas to OSU and Miami. Also noted from the screens are the inclusion of the team’s Nike Pro Combat uniforms. The demo will be out next Monday the 14th on the 360 and Tuesday the 15th on the PS3.

Update: More demo details!

The PS3 demo release race is on! Who will win, the game that comes out next month, or the game that came out last week?

  • Keith.

Who cares how good the screens look — if it still plays like Tiburon football games from the past 5-6 years, I'll wait until it hits the “used games bin” in August.

I'm done with being suckered by EA/Tiburon.

    • ncaa11demoSux

yes… that PLUS the snub to BAMA in the demo…. Used bin all the way here.

  • Timmy458

I don't know why but I had a feeling Miami was going to be in the demo since they were being featured in so many screenshots.

Torsten Reil of NaturalMotion has already stated at the Backbreaker forums that the PS3 demo will not be out this week.

For the PS3, Backbreaker and NCAA Football 11 demos will be out on the same day.

Given that the demo is out a month before the retail release of NCAA Football 11, I would imagine that we're not going to be restricted to only playing as Ohio State or Miami (FL). The announcement this morning said to follow the NCAA Football 11 Facebook page “all week long” for more demo information, so it wouldn't surprise me if we find out that there are more teams in the demo before the work week comes to a close. Doesn't make any sense for the NCAA demo to break the tradition of pitting a BCS Title Game rematch, even if Madden NFL 11's fan vote initiative has denied Colts fans and Saints fans the opportunity to replay Super Bowl XLIV in the demo.

I'm really looking forward to getting some hands-on time with NCAA Football 11; I think it's a good sign for the title that the team is so confident about the game that they're willing to put a demo out so far ahead of release.

The first NCAA game for this generation of systems came out earlier than this and we only got Florida State and Florida.

Personally, I would like a few more options but as long as the quarter length is more than two minutes, I will be good….

The Pro Combat uniforms look good…

  • Rtran19

why would u buy it use then? doesnt justify what u just said about it being bad. cmon son

Huh… I guess that's what I get for coming late to the NCAA party. The only NCAA Football title I've purchased was last year's, and I've only played the demos for the last two years of the series.

That said, the reason I feel that we're looking at more teams is that the team will apparently be putting out other demo information for the rest of the week. Unless they're going to spend each day (assuming we get an update each day) giving us small bits of information about the Ohio State versus Miami (FL) match-up, I'm thinking that there'll be at least two other teams as options; most likely Alabama and Texas as a nod to last year's BCS Title Game.

Will Kinsler (raczilla) told me on Twitter that the demo is “One of the better demos we've put together in a while IMO.” I know that the comments of EA Sports personnel doesn't carry much weight in the online community, but my interactions with him have been very honest in terms of getting information about both NCAA 11 and Madden NFL 11. It's enough to get me interested in what the demo has to offer and wishing that it was next Tuesday already (PS3 only, here).

  • dfoz3

The NCAA Demo has come out early for at least the last couple of years. I agree that it seems this will be more than just the same ol' demo though. Hopefully they will give us a few teams from different offensive styles to highlight the 120 ways to play theme! That would be sweet!

Yeah, apparently I'm just dropping the ball left and right with my understanding of the NCAA franchise and its typical pre-release practices. NCAA Football 10's demo was similarly out an entire month before retail release. I fail haha.

I guess it's just the practices of some other new football series and an inability to get a demo out on a console prior to retail release that make me somewhat hyperbolic about the NCAA Football 11 demo being out so quickly. Cue EA Sports conspiracy theories in 5, 4, 3, 2…

  • Amen Ra

Yo Pasta when are you going to show us some actual gameplay footage. The streets are fiending!!!

  • Amen Ra

In other words you should just be quiet because you obviously don't know shit about NCAA football LOL

  • http://thesportsgeeks.com Brian P.

    LAWLZ

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said. I've owned my f***-ups here. Still think there's a chance for more teams in the demo, and still excited to have a whole month to play it before retail.

You want to come back here and make some sort of concession comment to me if the demo ends up having multiple teams? Or can we call it good now that you've reiterated what I've already said?

I guess he feels like he's “fighting the power” by saving $5 and lining the profit line of a glorified pawn shop I mean game store.

  • jmbrew420

wtf, i was looking forward to crushing alabama with texas. oh well probably would have gotten my whole team injured in the 1st qtr. Saban knows voodoo.

  • daechaun

maybe they switched up because they wanted to show dverse offensive styles

  • Floridagatorfan

I'm hoping they do announce more matchups/teams because these two don't really do it for me. At least if it was a rivalry or something, but I could care less about this matchup.

  • dirtybirds233

ya cause thats about the only place texas can beat alabama…in a videogame :D

  • Amen Ra

The “LOL” at the end meant to show that I was joking with ya.

  • http://thesportsgeeks.com Brian P.

Damn internets! So hard to judge a person's tone from the written word.

Just another way I'm screwing up royally on this comment thread haha.

  • Amen Ra

Well I have a rep so I can certainly understand where it would seem as if I was attacking you. It was just funny because your 2 previous comments before mine, you admitted to not knowing much, so after the second comment I just re-iterated that to add comedy to the scenario. No personal attacks chief, I know who the clowns are on the site.

  • Amen Ra

MAn what sucks for video game developers is that I'm willing to bet they are some really cool people, but they always come off as nerds pretending to know about sports in these video interviews.

In Hollywoood, the people come off as cool in interviews but the majority I”ve had the priviledge to meet were all assholes.

    Such is life….

  • BU1B22

    GRAIG COOPER!!!

  • Amen Ra

Yeah well do that when you get a chance homey, ya know ya team checking for it.

PAstaPadre.com for life fuck the other side LOL

  • http://thesportsgeeks.com Brian P.

Even worse than watching the developers look like nerds is realizing that these “interviews” aren't even really necessary; at least, not with them on-camera front-and-center. I know that, as a gamer, I would rather just have somebody giving the talking points while watching some direct-feed gameplay footage of the game being discussed. On just about all of those videos I posted, I would much rather have direct-feed of what was being played on the TV behind the developer than the trailer footage.

  • Pyroboy829

Ohio St and Miami… random… could've at least made it a Rose Bowl rematch and thrown my Ducks in there
