Madden 11 Demo Arrives on July 27

As I first reported during E3 the Madden 11 demo will feature full five minute quarters, and we’ve known for a long while now that the matchup would be New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts. Gamespot today revealed more details which includes the news that the demo will arrive for both the 360 and PS3 on Tuesday July 27th.

Also noted is the difficulty level will be selectable, gameplay sliders will be available to tweak, the game will be played at the New Meadowlands Stadium, and the ability is given to create a full GamePlan to use with GameFlow (using only the Jets or Colts playbooks however). Creating a Gameplan will also grant the “Master Strategist” achievement/trophy once the full version of Madden 11 is played.

Clearly this is a huge improvement over how the demo has been handed in previous years. I still liked the idea of using the new overtime period for a demo but having a full game is a great way to allow people to get a feel for the pace and features of the game rather than having a rushed and ultimately unsatisfying experience which has been the case in the past.

Glad to see this. 5 minutes quarters will be a much better way of seeing how the new features work and what issues still are in the game. Hoping to see the new Locomotion allow defensive ends like Freeney have the ability to be quicker off the line then offensive linemen and actually beat them with a pure speed rush.

I can't wait for this demo. I'm glad that they are doing something similar to Crackdown 2 with the demo achievement type of thing, even though its just one.

If I can't pick my own plays, then I will pass on Madden for the first time in 10 years. I'm already disgusted with their motto this year: simpler, quicker, faster. Really?? It's a testament to how lazy, stupid and ignorant our society has become.

Colts are my fav team, I already have NCAA 11 comming in the mail, so I need to get full , cuz I can play COLTS FOR 5 FULL MINUTES, I hope this will be as good as Madden 08 & Bacon

Did you just wake up from a 6 month coma? You CAN select your own plays just like in every version of Madden ever made. Gameflow is an alternative play calling system and not compulsary.

So if I use gameflow and I win a game I am a MORON? That very comment is the most moronic comment ever made. Gameflow isn't going to help you win anything. If anything it will help you lose more than anything else. Just because the AI suggests a play doesn't mean that you will execute the play or that the play picked for you is going to be the right play. Also the game plan is set up by YOU so if you aren't a MORON then you might actually use it to better select the plays you want to use. Everyone knows that the vast majority of Madden players only use a handful of plays and if you set up your gameplan with those plays and set your audibles up correctly then gameflow will be calling YOUR plays and will do it in less time.

So if you don't use it then it is you who is MORE moronic. I will be playing twice as much Madden as you will. Enjoy your hour long games.

Are they gonna give us the option to change the camera view? I hate the default view in Madden. I want to play with the ZOOM view.

I'm not going to sit here and say Madden doesn't intrigue me, but as long as they don't have a full functioning online franchise I'm not going to buy it. I know for a fact the offline franchise mode is nowhere near as in depth and compelling as The Show and NBA2K10, therefore I know I'm not going to maintain interest in playing a solo-franchise.

NCAA is the best sports game to me because of it's structured competition that evolves each and every “game-year” as people get different recruits, schedules, player progression etc.

I forgot how strongly you feel about franchise mode. Oh well, that will just give you more time with online dynasty. For me personally, I never saw the need for franchise mode. After the 4th season or so you just have a bunch of made up players and to me that isn't even fun. Also I quite honestly don't play enough to even get to a 3rd or fourth season. I play online or single off line games.

Oh btw why are you ducking me. You were supposed to give me you PSN tag. I am waiting.

The team rating is based upon this years team and not last years. The Jets have the most substantial change to their roster and are well deserving of 4th. They are already slated to win the AFC. Stop Hating.

Even though I'm not getting Madden, I'll still check it out to see how it feels in case I want to borrow it off my friends sometime or rent it. Hopefully I won't feel like I'm wasting my time like with Madden 10

But the game play of Madden is light-years ahead of NCAA. Did you see the release-day patch notes? Some of those things should've been caught in the beta, like the QB always fumbling past the line and the guaranteed 50 yd run glitch with the QB. NCAA has not vastly improved their product in years.

Madden, on the other hand, is trying to innovate and make the game better. Even those people who dislike the new play-calling method have to admit; it's new. NCAA hasn't come out with a “new” game idea in years, except “new” pregame shows. Which is great. But doesn't vastly improve the product at all. In NCAA 10, offensive players had to deal with momentum and not being able to “skate” (being able to move independently of momentum) while defensive players could act outside the laws of physics. I can't count how many times a CB running up field would magically turn with my reciever on the hook route and pick it off.

And I'd have to disagree on the depth of Online Dynasties; after 5 years redshirting becomes almost automatic, and if you're good, you'll never be worse than a 4 star team. The only way to make the game fun is to play with enough friends to take up a whole conference and have all your in conference games be against a human. Otherwise, you end up with recruiting classes like mine/my brothers; I am at a 4 star LSU, while he's at 5 star Notre Dame, and last year we accounted for all but 3 of the 5 star recruits in the nation.

Basically what i'm trying to say is, Madden's gameplay is better, and what makes online dynasties fun (the human interaction) would be there in madden too.

Agreed here. The beautiful thing about the new Gameflow system is that you can set it up however you want; you can pick which plays to see on 3rd and 10. So since we all know you only have a grand total of 5 plays you might run in that situation, instead of flipping through playbooks for 15 seconds, now all 5 are right there in front of you, ready to go. Boom.

Honestly, I don't think Madden gameplay is light years ahead of NCAA. The difference between Madden and NCAA to me is the fact that Madden gets better graphics and presentation, in other words smoke and mirrors.

As for your online Dynasty comments, I play with 7 other homeboys on Heisman level and it's hard to get all the top recruits when you got that many people going at it. Not to mention, it's not just about how many stars your recruits are rated. This is a true sim dynasty where boys go after speed and str way more than just stars. WE kick out all glitchers and restarters and every year we get past year 10. I”be yet to see someone get more than 2 titles.
