Madden 11 Demo Now Available

I will not be buying madden because of the strategy pad for auidables. No reason to buy Madden when NCAA 11 is this good. Atleats give the options for classis control for audiables. Just amazing how stupid people can be and unfortuanitly these poeple work on Madden.

I WORKED IN THE MARKETING DEPT IN EA AND I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT THAT EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS THE MIDNIGHT RELEASE, WHICH EA PAYS FOR TO GET YOUR MONEY AND QUOTAS FASTER, FEEDS THE IDEAS TO DEVS LIKE DAVID ORTIZ AND IAN CUMMINGS WHO SEEM TO NOT WANT TO MESS WITH A “GOOD THING”, WHICH IT REALLY ISN'T, BUT THATS WHAT HE THINKS AND THAT'S WHAT HE THINKS THE CONSUMER WANTS.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO HOLD OFF IF YOU WANT TO TAKE IT TO EA. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I LEFT EA ON GOOD TERMS, BUT I FEEL LIKE AS A MADDEN PLAYER MYSELF, I FEEL THE NEED TO GIVE YOU PEOPLE THIS INFO. Well… my opinion on Madden 11 demo…

Let's just get to the big thing… THE STRATEGY PAD. I was playing with the Jets in my first game thinking my Defensive skills were going to be shown off… then out of nowhere I look up, see this Tampax Strategy Pad thinking WTF? I was somewhat shocked… I've tried to get used to it, and it'll take even more games to do it, but it's just not for me. I think that's too much on one button/pad of the controller (ESPECIALLY when the cpu snaps the ball as soon as the QB gets under center). I don't mind using it to actually shift people left and right or whatever, but to use it to pick between “coverage”, LB Shift, LE Shift, etc is doing to much. It was much more simple before hand; but my big thing is why not let people know about it? All the hype leading up to this thing was Gameflow… Gameplan… I know they released a small post about the strategy pad waaaay back, but they should've said something about it say last week. It's almost like the Lebron James thing; if you're going to leave Cleveland, cool. But dang let someone know ahead of time after all you've done for the city instead of breaking their hearts with the most overhyped decision ever! So Ian can say what he wants, but I don't like the “pad”. I'll suck it up though if I have too, because…

The rest of the game/demo wasn't that bad to me! I think Gameflow/Gameplan will be nice, but for me I won't be using it every play, instead mixing it up with my own playcalls. But it does give you some convenience. The presentation has improved. Gus Johnson is a step forward over Tom Hammond, I'd just like to see more of him and Collinsworth talking towards each other about on field situations (but this is minor). Ian tweeted me a few days back saying that the cut out a lot for the demo commentary wise, so hopefully you'll hear less of the same things in the retail game.

Lighting and graphics are improved, as they are every year. There's still something unique about NCAA's lighting and graphics though; the still shots from that game are some of the most beautiful things I've seen in a sports video game. But Madden does a good job as well in that department. Running the ball for me was fun. Shonn Greene is a beast, and you can feel the difference between running with him and someone like LT. I played the demo on fast speed. Slow was tooo slow, and Normal still felt off. Just my opinion though.

My big issues other than the “pad” was A) that it seems like you get little to no pass rush from your D, yet the CPU is all over you when they want to be. Maybe that's because they had Freeney and Mathis, but the Jets O-Line is one of the better in the league, so hopefully sliders can fix that. B) Throwing the ball is better, but it feels like the QB can put too much loft under the ball when you're not throwing a bullet pass. It's not a huge deal, but I can't throw bullet passes all day.

Overall, I think the demo, as a sample of the game, isn't bad. I'd almost say it was good. I just still think there's not anything compelling (Daley, I'm sure you'll chime in… haha). I will say in my opinion it's better than Madden 10, so for those of you who thought M10 was the best Madden ever, I think M11 can top that.

If in deed you worked for EA then there are two observations that could be made:
1) You would be smart enough to know not to plead on a blog to gamers to not buy a game
2) You would realize that David Ortiz left Madden 2 years ago after Madden 09.

If you like both the pro and college game then that is reason enough to buy both games. Fear the dear is just another one of those 2k5 losers that still cant let it go. NCAA IS a fantastic game but the college game isn't the pro game and therefore are entirely different experiences. Saying you wont buy Madden for a feature like strategy pad makes you out to be a complete tool. Maybe its just too diffiicult for you simplistic mind to get around. Maybe if you actually try to use it you will get used to it and adapt. You know adapt and overcome not pussy out b/c I don't want to actually have to learn something new. Madden will never be as good as it could be if they continue to use the XBOX360 as the lead platform. The PS3 has so much untapped potential that isn't being utilized due to the 360 being the lead platform. Blueray offers over 50GB of storage space that can be utilized for game development. Games like MGS4 and Uncharted Drakes Fortune 2 are examples of games that utilize this 50GB of disc space. There is no denying how exceptional these 2 games were and why they won numerous awards.

XBOX 360 currently has only 15gb of disc space that can be utilized and therefore has far less room for development. Sports games in general will never get any better until the devs begin to tap that unused potential of the PS3. Just take a look at how SONY's own MLB:The Show has buried the competition in MLB2k. If this isn't proof of what the PS3 has to offer in the realm of Sports then you must be crazy.

Me and you are actually going to agree here. I own a 360, but the PS3 does offer the blu-ray, which gives more storage space, and since EA is all about the casual gamer right now, one thing that's at least trying to boom in the industry is the 3D compatibility. In fact if you think about it, last generation EA Sports was all about the PS2 because it was the top system. So maybe one reason that they're now marketing their game with the 360 system more is because it's looked at as the “top system” (At least for hardcore gamers), but you might be right about having more potential with the PS3.

I hate the strat pad and I hate the new kicking system. Both ruin the game play and gameflow and gameplane are just another way of sayin ask madden their a joke and not a new way to call plays insulting to anyone who has played madden for years. sad

How do you change your receivers routes now? I was upset with the fact that I couldn't press Y to change my receiver's route.

I know – they usually arrive 6pm et, but its already 6:45 ET, and there is still no sign.

you have to change them using the Strategy Pad in the upper right of the screen. It takes longer to do all your adjustments now, but unless the devs patch in an option to turn it off we're stuck with it.

In all Honestly it probably should have been on both 360 and ps3 at 12:00 am EST lol its almost dark out and no demo still LAME!
