NBA 2K11 Will Utilize Playstation Move

The Sony Holiday Catalog includes a list of titles that will have Playstation Move functionality. Many of them are games that are intended to showcase the motion controls, while others are current titles that will be implementing it as an alternate scheme such as Tiger Woods 11 and (and next year) MLB 11: The Show.

NBA 2K11 is now confirmed to feature Playstation Move as a control option, and though it was mentioned at E3 (which slipped by me) how it will be used remains unknown. Like the other sports titles it certainly will not be the primary way to play the game so there is no reason to panic. However PS Move could slide in as an optional control scheme or be taken advantage of unique modes.

Much like 3d gaming, the Playstation Move and Microsofts Kinnect are gimmicks that are a complete waste of time AND money. The Wii captured the imaginations of wouldbe gamers with its motion controller but the fad has passed. These are merely gimmicks and its implementation into serious sports games is utterly rediculous. EPIC WASTE

For once we agree Daley. I don't know a single person who lost weight with that bs Wii fit and everyone I know with a wii, wasted money on the shit and doesn;'t play it anymore. While I understand bowling and tennis games are cool and fun for the kids to enjoy, I just don't see the more “adult oriented” gamers dropping down $100 more dollars for the PS3 and XBox versions of this garbage, then again there is a sucker born every minute and I know some clowns are out there buying Madden scouting reports. I tend to “fire up that bomb” or have a few drinks when I play video games so I damn sure don't want to be standing around and waving my arms for anything….except guitar hero and I think that is over-rated too. If you want to get active…take your ass to a park or gym, stop with these video game gimmicks eventually you will have rejoin society at some point in time.

    Then again….to each his own

NBA 2K11 wasn't all that easy on Wii. I had to play on the easiest setting to mimic the type of results I'd have playing more difficult settings on the PS3/Xbox 360. To me, motion controls are very much an inexact science. They work half the time, maybe more, but never enough. I still don't understand how the Wii took off like it did.

That said, I'm a game junkie and am up for trying anything. I'm actually a little more intrigued with Kinect than move, but if anyone can make motion controls work as consistent as standard controls, then maybe I'll be more into it. I still have a better time memorizing specific button presses than odd motions (or combinations of motions and button presses).

These motion control mechanisms usually aren't compatible with current control schemes. Money says NBA 2k tries to just shoehorn the current controls in there only with motion gestures replacing some of the right stick's functionality. If you're gonna support something like this. Support it like you're making a game for a brand new system. Your entire state of mind has to change because there's more to motion controls than miscellaneous gestures to execute current, largely binary commands. Like the ability to specifically place passes or position off ball teammates with physical direction. Imagine shooing off a center in the post by fanning in his direction. That's the only way these motion controls are going to mean something, but people always wanna make it simple and trivial.
