Your Thoughts on Madden 11

With Madden 11 now officially out leave your impressions of the game in the comments! I’ll be working up an online play report for later this week, however a word of warning in advance. Ranked games don’t count if quit out of in the first half. Quitters don’t get a loss and those quit on don’t get a win or even the chance to play the CPU out for the win (also means no coins earned). This is obviously a huge concern right now to monitor with the online experience taking a huge hit because of it. Links to pre-release coverage can be found below.

How can you be undefeated with all that go wrong. Send me a friend request at HUEJAC2 on P3 and I will wax that …. with the Bucs. Im getting more sacks this year but G Mac has been added to the Bucs this year. There is alot of things better this year but special team blocking alone makes it the best Madden ever. Now at least when you kick the ball to the back of the in zone they pretty much have to take a knee. Last year there were too many kick off returns in excess of 100 yards. I have been playing Madden since 03 and think its the best Madden ever.

I agree that if ya don’t like it don’t buy it (that’s why I didn’t go to get it at midnight like I have for years) and if More people would do that and drop EAs numbers then I think you’d see many more improvements take place from year to year but I doubt that’ll ever happen. Some of the complaints of the same thing come in where many features that Needed changed weren’t (and yes I’m still bitter about franchise mode). After seeing that Ian was deleting people on Twitter when asking a legit question (the diff between Gameflow and Ask Madden) I question how much they will truly listen. I’d love to see them make deals so that they could use the NFL on CBS or NFL on FOX logos during games depending on where it was or ESPN for MNF. I read on here that game testers hated the strategy pad and what happened? It stayed until the patch. I struggle to believe sometimes that little things like that would even be listened to by EA

No, I’m just not a tool that latches on to a shitty game made by the company that made NFL games against EA (and 2k5 I gave away because I didn’t like it). If it was SO great then it would’ve sold and they’d have made a 2k9. But it is what it is and it sits on shelves at game stores for $5 because no one outside of 2k homers liked it

I HATED potential last year. I like the concept because some do have a higher potential but the execution didn’t work. I think potential should determine how quickly a players overall will rise instead of how high they can actually go.

Well you are right about one thing daley, we can’t hope for improvement. We got a great game with Madden 10 so this was their year to take it easy and make a huge selling point a fancy Ask Madden. I think it is quite valid to whine about something like the strategy pad because EA broke something that was working just fine yet ignored something like online franchise that badly needed work.. I don’t think it is too much to ask the online franchise work just like offline.

I think I every right to be pissed when the game I was waiting a long time for (pretty much since Madden 10 came out because I was disappointed with it as well) only to find out that it is basically the same thing. The only actual gameplay improvements they made are found and utilized better in NCAA 11, except NCAA 11 has less flaws to go with it and has a great dynasty mode.

And who’s the lemming for EA here, after all you’re the one getting Madden at midnight and pretending to be ian Cummings, going around attacking people with a opinion different than your’s about the game. God forbid anyone think differently than you. I’d hate to see you not get your way for once.

my record is 12 and 5 i only ran into one quiter try versing people who have losses and also if u know ur going to beat him let him get close to you at half time int he score i know this is gay and u should not have to do this but if htey quit after half u get win. also i think ea has a good idea with not counting the game but they should make it if u quit before first quarter ends gm dont count. cause some of the games the lags is real bad. people can be blowing out guys like 31 to 0 by half.

dont hate on me but i think they should keep the feature of quiting but reduce it to the end of the first quarter because some of the games have really bad lag and the other guy doesnt friendly quit. but if u dont want people to quit on u keep the score at halftime with in 15 points and the other guy doesnt quit. my record is 12 and 5 gt blindkiller28

Are you fucking kidding me kiddo????? APF 2K8 is pure simulation football. It beats the hell out of Madden trash. Once 2K gets back the license its over and done for Madden. Madden=NBA Live versus NBA 2K lol Not even close….

Couple of things. This IS the best Madden I’ve ever played. And Pasta, I don’t know what you’re talking about but play action works fine for me. Although you do have to make your decision faster, which is realistic.

The only reason people are touting NCAA 11 is because that game is more about your skills on the stix and not in the playbook. You have to call plays correctly in Madden, there’s more strategy involved. That’s why I like it. That being said I like NCAA for it being different too.

I will agree with Legendoflegends on one fact, taking out turbo to help Madden fans in the running game does bother me a bit. The worst part is that the running difficulty was a big complaint, but just like most Madden “issues” the problem was with the user not the game. Running in Madden has been fine for your years, you guys just never knew how to wait for blocks and when to turbo… now that the game does it for you, you THINK the running game is better. It’s just been simplified for you.

And therein lies my point. STOP BLAMING THE GAME FOR YOUR SHORTCOMINGS. I haven’t found a situation in Madden that I couldn’t overcome with the right play call and the right audible.

the defense in this game has to be fix, in all madden mode, de cpu always break the tackles, and the user defense dont react well, the cpu in the other hand plays excelent vs the user running game, the only way to do something is passing the ball… i played 3 games in my franchise and all the games ends over 80 points

I definitely agree…they need to patch up everything in all madden this year. They made it “impossible” to win. I mean did they actually test that difficulty out before release??

I wouldn’t say that it was the best Madden I ever played. (I think Madden 10 was), but I will say that I am liking it more and more each day. The game becomes a lot more enjoyable as you get used to and tweak the new features.

Well said, I don’t things like removing turbo, and adding auto-strafe should be in the game because people should just learn how to use them more appropriately. Me personally, I don’t mind not having turbo on offense but it limits my control on defense because I cannot control my player(s) momentum nearly as well without the use of turbo. The game of football is NOT for everyone, and not everybody has the necessary understanding of the game (of football) to be good at Madden. With that said, EA needs to stop trying to make Madden appeal to everyone at the expense of the harcore gamers that have made the franchise what it is today. If you don’t know what a cover 2 is, you probably shouldn’t be playing Madden.

madden 11 this year is garbage. the tackling system is down right fucking stupid its like your opponent is guarenteed to break a hundred tackles an also spin an juke like its nothing with even losing speed or momentum. you have qbs like big ben scrambling as if they were lil vicks out there. you have un realistc catching an tackling breaking. the online play is garbage as well you cant even challenge someone in a lobby or even sent a invite to a friend on your list to a ranked match itll send you right into a play now match with a random person. wow madden 11 is a HUUUGGE let down this year

I have a lot of likes and dislikes in this years game. I love the new gameflow and the fact that the turbo button can be turned off make you rely more on your stick work and awareness than on when to press R2. I how ever hate the online play this year it is almost unplayable, everyone quits I cant even get through one stinking game. But here is my biggest problem with this years game, I have been playing Madden since I can remember and I always play on all madden and I usually play with TN but my problem being is the fact that I can have a 400 yard game passing with VY wtf up with that but I’m lucky to get 100 yards rushing w CJ I just can’t seem to get to the outside with him. I seems to me that the lower rated players do better this year, I can rush just as good with Ringer as I can with CJ. Then on D the CPU is hell on wheels when they run the ball and when they pass I have no one in position to make a play. I hope they come out with some patches to fix these problems, Oh and another thing change up Franchise mode for God sakes.

I think EVERYONE for the most part is having lag problems online. I’ve only played one game with no lag (dude quit on me too)

THIS IS A LAUNCH TITLE. WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS BACK IN 06. Go back and play the old xbox and ps2 versions. Packed with tons of features and great gamplay. If you put it in the game leave it. Weapons, Passing Cone, Lead Blocking, Playmaker ext…. Let me decide what I want and don’t want with Game Options thats what there for. How about some highlights during halftime of other games going on. Just 1 highlight! Especially if its a PLAYOFF GAME. They were on Madden 93. I have every Madden Since 89 even the one on apple. I went back through the games last night and read the features on each game. They have been promising sideline catches since 99 on the PS1 11 years later we got it. I am not a Madden Fan Boy Nor 2K. I am a football purist. Don’t give me madden situations with current rosters. 2k did this back in 2005 at least they used old rosters and numbers with no names. It sucked then and sucks now. Save that crap and your madden cards and ultimate team garbage. Quit trying to pimp Microsoft points from me. Give me my features back. Give me football that I see on TV. You greedy self center &!^*%$$#. PeAcE

Saying that this madden is the best ever is not that good of a compliment. Why wouldn’t it be? All they have to do is build on and ad features from the previous year. Its not like they have to create a new storyline or something. They could add one feature and it would be the best yet. The question is did it improve enough this year to spend $65? And the answer is no.

Is it me or are their WAY too many broken tackles and missed hit-stick attempts. I use the Titans and the Lions. this year both defense’s improved. I like to play aggressive defensively and I find myself having to hold back. In this version it’s way too easy to over pursue.

Welcome to my world. Where it’s becoming increasingly difficult to control your defensive players because of the removal of the turbo button. Now, there is almost no way to automatically slow down so that you can position yourself for that big hit or sure tackle. I will say however that I have been doing a little better of not over pursuing as the days go on.

Madden since 03?? You are young and dumb so please stfu. Most people here have been playing since 98,99, etc. I have played EVERY Madden EVER and can honestly say this is the WORST Madden of ALL-TIME!!! EVER! The game purely sucks. When will EA fix the fact that cpu controlled quarterbacks snap the ball the second they get behind the center?!?!?!?!? This is soooo aggravating and unrealistic. That’s not real football and that’s not what we see on Sundays. Every quarterback whether they’re a starter or backup, star or bumb, goes through there cadence (calls signals) at the line of scrimmage. I believe Madden 08 was patched by EA for this but then 09, 10 & 11 come out and it’s broken yet again??? Please put some sort of random generator so that cpu controlled quarterbacks snap the ball at different times on different plays and different situations. YOU”VE DONE THIS BEFORE EA!!!!!!!!!

I couldn’t agree with you more. I am really disappointed with this game. It honestly is ridiculous. It seems like you say, they are trying to appeal more to the casual game so that they can just pick it up and pass it with no issues at all. It is WAY to easy to pass now. Defense feels like you have way less control than previous years. It is so unrealistic and frustrating that I literally find no enjoyment in playing anymore, not even when I win. CPU AI seems incredibly unresponsive on defense. Way too many huge plays go down now without effort. Like you said I have feel into the rut the past couple years of trying to “force” myself to like it because its the new madden and I guess it has to be good. I did eventually get used to last years version and enjoyed it. But after playing Madden 11 for a week I do not know if I will be able to get to the point of enjoyment. It is just so frustrating and pathetic.

I completely agree.. this years version is the worst in years.First the strategy pad can be confusing at times, The tackling is a complete joke, I really don’t think I tackled someone with the first person yet..smh…also the passing is not as smooth as pass years. Too many times I have an open running backs coming out the backfield only to have balls fly right over their heads.Madden really took a step back this year.They really need another football game to put a fire under their butt..
