NBA Elite 11 Physics Focused Video

EA Sports has released a new video that goes over the real-time physics that has been implemented in NBA Elite 11. Things like weight being a big factor, the ability to break out of animations, the ball being knocked away dynamically, and improved rebounding are touched on.

This is probably the first video for NBA Elite 11 that I’ve felt shone it in a largely positive light, though I still have great deal of trepidation towards the title based on all the past looks at the game and the way it is being pushed. It sure seems like the demo is going to represent the break point as to whether to buy into what has been done for this year or not. looks like EA might be on to something but it still wont pass 2k this year but in the next couple of years it might but EA please do 1 thing work on graphics!!!!

Well First of all Folks there is nothing wrong the the graphics 2nd the game is still in the working progress what they still have 1 month and 2 weeks to work on it till release day and all yall players out there are not looking at the big picture.Now 2k is a better game because they have rules and fatigue in the game now Live has the rules in the game but not all of them and fatigue is in the game but its not fully addressed in the game.Now for Elite that mains to be seen in the game rules and fatigue.And the only thing 2k had to fix was control use thats all and they did also online play so dont think 2k is all that good cause its not.@k has its good points EA has theres its to each is own to me and i love Elite aka Live.So if yall need to know more bout Elite aka Live go to my channel here is the Link http://www.youtube.com/user/optimusP76

In Game Informer magazine, it’s been said with the producer, that this is a 3 year project as it was with the NHL, and FIFA series. They want to make Elite into one of the upper echelon of games in that 3 year span; therefore, this will probably not be a “maker or break year”

This is gonna be an interesting game for sure cuz the controls seem that your free from “suck in animations” and i wonder if thats true. This is a great feature to have in a game plus its from fifa, nhl, and fight night so you know that your getting it from one of the best ppl. the one thing that i’m worried about is the presentation and commentary (3 ppl) which sounds like a lot so you wonder if the commentary is gonna be smooth.

Everything. You are making a judgement based on looking at an animation and not the technology that is behind it. Real time physics has not been used in any basketball game to date. I am pretty sure that you have no idea what that means. Perhaps if you took your 2k colored glasses off, head over to the Elite face book page and actually open your ears and your eyes you will have a complete understanding of what in that video has never been seen before, but, like the 2kfanboy you are, its just easier to scoff at what you don’t understand instead of getting educated on the matter.

The real time physics engine is a 3 year project. Its the first year its being implemented. Of course it will take some time to fully intigrate and realize the full potential that it has to offer. Its no different than when we all shifted to next gen. It took a few years for the game devs to catch up.

Looks good coming from a guy that prefers 2K but I laugh at the guy talking in general. “In video games in the past”. He should really say in EA video games of the past because EA and 2K are not the same to anyone who has played them both like myself. I will check out both demos and see if those things that turn my off with EA are gone because they definitely had 2K beat with crowd reactions and online last year, but the gameplay was 2K all the way and that’s what I am more interested in

Live 10 was widely accepted as having better graphics than in 2k10 and EA has already admitted that the graphics in Elite11 will take a minor hit due to the use of the physics engine. But from what I have seen the graphics in Elite are just fine.

Who really gives a shit about pretty graphics when your gameplay is for shit. I am more than willing to take a hit graphics wise for the exponentially improved user control.

The game still looks like complete ass. NONE of the players look remotely accurate. The last time i checked not all players were lanky as hell. EA just needs to dump basketball and put that money into something else. Their basketball titles are flat out embarrassing.

Why the mention of 2k? Do you see any mention of any particular game in my comment? Did you mention 2k because everything VISUALLY you saw in that video you’ve seen in basketball games before? I happen to be familiar with real time physics actually lol. Happen to visit facebook as well. You are arguing the case for EA’s potentially revolutional new control scheme based on VISUALS. You don’t SEE controls you FEEL them. I will play the Elite demo. I will play the 2k demo. I will base my purchase on which game looks and feels like the real deal. As for LOOKS 2k is in lead. Live theoretically, based on the excellence of FIFA and NHL, has the lead in controls. Depending on if 2k is severely lacking in control or if Elite is severely lacking in visuals you will see which game overall just plain sucks. Elite based on what has been seen will suck visually. Despite what some people will try to make you believe about games, the first thing people notice about video games is visuals. Which is why games like Madden used to hit you in the head with jaw-dropping CGI coated bs that was not a true reflection of what the game would look like. This post lasted so much longer than I would have liked so I’ll just wait for a reply and fill in all the holes that will come with the rebuttal.

I still have trouble with the “Real Time Physics” part; based on that video, its basically nothing more then a mid-level scripting engine which determines the outcome, then calls animation X based on the result, instead of a fully dynamic engine.

We’ll see, but I’m not real impressed yet.

I am a consumer and a smart one at that. I know enough not to buy from a company that releases a broken product. I am smart enough not to waste 60$ on the same game every year. It is convenient for you clowns to call me an EA fanboy but when EA clearly makes the best sports games then it is what it is. I have owned 2k sports games in the past. 2k clearly has lost its way. That is why they are losing franchise after franchise. NBA2k is all they have left.

LIve plays a better game IMHO and the game actually worked out of the box. 2k didn’t.

This game sucks sooo bad!! from the Graphics to the Alley Oops! you cant even throw a simple alley oop on this game. its so annoyin especially when you go baseline and they suck you into that animation that makes you lose the ball. ridiculous. PLaying AI its impossible to make a jumpshot. Im a “2kfanboy” bc it brings the entertainment. the crazy dunks goin to th lane with LeBron and jus booming on your friends player. thats what makes games fun. the smack talk, the OMG replays that you save and thats what 2k have in store especially with the addition of the great MJ?! omg this is about to be 2k’s year just like the past few years..

When EA first said real time physics, and claimed Elite will be like no other game I was excited. We shall see if it pans out. Because NBA Live 10 was fun yet way too arcadey. NBA 2K9 & 2K10 was more realistic. NBA 2K11 will be good too obviously. But EA might be stepping it up. I will check out the demos when they come out.

In Elite 11 it changed in my opinion, but 2K11 still looks better.

Who gives a shit about pretty graphics? Graphics is the first thing you see when you play a game. It has to look good. Its not like Live/Elite graphics looks bad, it just doesnt look human…

you sure live worked out of the box.. i owned nba live and i definatley remembered the game freezing into the 3 quarter everygame because the replays where on>>>????? yea thats a good game .. as far as im concerned both games last year werent great at all nor did any game out due the other. but i must say 2k11 does look good and elite idk physics is nice but its gonna take another year for them to actually put out a pretty decent game.
