Madden 11 Roster Update #2 Details

by
Posted August 28th, 2010 at 10:05 am

The second roster update for Madden 11 has gone live. This is a pretty significant update that includes a bunch of ratings changes based on preseason performance, player additions, and movement due to injuries. Curiously while Vincent Jackson was removed from the depth chart other players in the same situation, Darrelle Revis and teammate Marcus McNeill, did not see their status change in this update. • who?

Donny “Ratings Dumbass” Moore doesn’t even know who Victor Cruz is.

  • Haha

This is not an actual reply to you, I jsut want to hear what other people think about this. You know, oddly enough, I think the lack of a general overall rating might help Donny Moore get it right. He can’t just set a player to an “appropriate overall rating,” he would actually have to pay attention to his attributes. That way nobody gets screwed or overrated in certain categories. For example, if a guy plays like an 85, that’s good but not great. Currently, Donny reduces the guys in stupid categories like awareness to lower his overall from say, a 93, to an 85. Without that overall rating as a benchmark, he would actually have to pay attention to specifically what a certain player is good at. But this would never work with EA sports because it requires actual work. It would not be an easy job to follow the league and its players THAT closely.

  • Ron

What the hell has EA seen from Mike Vick to actually increase him. As a die- hard Eagles fan, I can tell you that he has been awful. INTs, fumbles, incompletions, etc. The only thing that has gotten better since last yr is is speed/ quickness.

  • Dude

Please, Madden 12, give us a functioning IR system! And the ability to expand past 53 man rosters until the regular season!

  • Willy2535

I think its funny how they didnt add Balmer to the Seahawks even though the trade happened before the Lawrence Jackson trade, yet his got done

  • http://twitter.com/Mason_drews Mason Drews

Why isn’t Elvis Dumervil on IR HE”S DONE FOR THE YEAR DONNY!

  • http://twitter.com/Mason_drews Mason Drews

Mike Vick increased? Against Cincinnati He went 1-5 for 6 Yards 0 TD’s and 2 INT’s and a QB Rating of 0.0 LMAO!!!

  • Bobbby83

how is sean smith downgraded? cause jason allen started over him thats because the coaches wanted to see how j allen would do aganst starters and the majority of the passes were thrown at vontae davis thats beacuse sean is shuting down the other side, god its like if a guy doesnt have a batted ball he gets a downgrade if your a freaking corner and you go unnoticed in a game thats a good thing that means your doing your freaking job!!!

  • Skinsfan11

Thanks for the info Pasta. It’s always appreciated…

  • Steelers fan

EA need to add Isaac Redman and A.Brown to the steelers. They also can remove Logan. Look like he won’t be around because of A.Brown

  • Willy2535

Ill 2nd that, he had a great game last week

  • Willy2535

Same with Leon Washington on the hawks, hes been wearing #33 for over a month now, yet even after a roster update he still has #30 even though Kevin Ellison FS/SS is already wearing it lol

  • Imnotgunnacallhimdad

This is ridiculous…. game 1 no stats……he got his first catch game 2….. 4 catches 38 yards 1 touchdown game 3….. 3 catches 66 yards 2 touchdowns Now this is in preseason games which means the amount of snaps he gets is limited especially in week 2. he has improved strongly each week and is definitaly playing better than a 75 F*** Madden im done this i stupid and cuz maroney started complaining bout his madden stats they decreased his stats even when he didnt play… Im not a maroney fan but u cant say he got worse before u saw him play

  • Fightthefuture77

If some of these players, and not just 3rd teamers, were actually 50′s and 40′s in real life, there wouldn’t be a NFL.

  • Fightthefuture77

Me either, Madden at least tried to get the basics right back when there was NFL 2k and NFL Fever, as in THE F’ING ROSTERS!!! How do you rate people in the 40-50-60′s range, most of the players in the game are mediocre. I played it for 2 days and couldn’t take it so I went back to NCAA.

  • Regtam25

wheres my boy jay ross? i swear ea messes up alot of players every year

  • Adffffd

    You got mental problems.

When is Randy Phillips of the Lions going to be added? I understand its only the lions but come on he starts…

  • Rjblitz02

Huggins only has a 92 speed???

The man ran a 4.28 40 at the combine. Do these guys even watch football?

  • TraumaoftheBlunt

why is this update not working when i try to start a new online franchise? it still uses old roster

Players in the 40′s, 50′s, and 60′s would make sense if there was a practice squad and they actually developed into decent role players. Every once in a while, maybe one of these players develops in to a pro bowler. What is the point of having a player ranked 45 with A potential if there is no way you’ll ever make room for him on the roster?

This will never happen, but I think a “work ethic” rating should be incorporated to go along with potential. A players has a “A” potential and a “C” work ethic, maybe they never reach their potential!!! Haha, crapshoot idea, but it might help with finding the right players to develop on a practice squad. I would personally use an aspect like this.

Haha, here’s another crapshoot idea. Players heading into a contract year should get a random rating boost for that season, and when they get their contract, they go back down!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_5ATGC6GZYR6JOL2YNMWFFL5SII the juice

Everyone knows, even the guys at EA, that when this exclusive license ends, the Madden Developers are going to have to step it up. Especially if Sony develops a PS3 exclusive NFL brand game. That game would be so deep it would blow this year’s Madden out of the water. Think of how much more could be in Madden if the 360 wasn’t holding it back!

Look what Sony did with Baseball! The Show is so deep, it has its flaws though. But, every sports game should be as deep as the show with it’s franchise mode.

Im just glad they added my boy Myron Rolle

  • apparently I’m furious

The phrase “realistic football” has nothing to do with Madden.

  • Jc3

How is Mark Sanchez still rated higher than Matt Stafford. . ? It’s obvious Stafford is a ‘class’ better than Sanchez

  • Anonymous

I noticed a lot of changes to player models such as skin tones being more accurate and player hairstyles being changed. But as for that there is still a lot of work to be done, whats with the player model of Brandon Marshall that thing is atrocious. And as for Rating drops how did Rod Gronkowski drop? he has been GREAT in preseason, 7 catches 105 yards and 3TD’s..

  • Anonymous

Why would they put him on the IR if he was never placed on the IR in real life? Its not even officiail that he is out for the season the Broncos are still planning on having him return in December..

  • Anonymous

Kevin Ellison isn’t even on the roster anymore..

  • Anonymous

I’m just as confused about that as you are..

  • http://twitter.com/ExtremeGamer ExtremeGamer

The Browns have 2 number 28′s, Peyton Hillis has worn 40 since mini-camp, but they keep giving him #28, even though James Davis is also wearing it.

Yeah they did make Willis look huge! He looks kind of weird though. They need to do something about the tackling quick. I reduced the cpu skill for breaking tackles wayyyyyy down and they still broke 3 or 4 every f’n run! Willis NEVER tackles anyone for me when he makes the first hit. I can’t believe it! I feel like I need to boost his tackle rating to 150 to have a chance. I don’t really have a problem making contact, I guess i’m not wrapping up, but there’s no button for that, coach!

  • Bokinghbk

FIX THE GAME ONLINE PLEASE!!!! KICK METER IS STILL BROKEN. WHOLE GAME JUST SUCKS!!! THEY SOULD WORRY MORE ABOUT THE PATCH. LESS ABOUT THE ROSTERS!

  • Nphillyk

Exactly, my only guess is that a speed increase == higher Ovr.

  • Nphillyk

While I agree that Vick should if anything be decreased, T.O should have never been that low (83 Ovr) in the first place. Only idiots from ESPN and other T.O haters within the media thought that he had lost a step last year playing in Buffalo. All of that nonsense was negated with Chris Collinsworth actually put on the tape last year and annouced during the HOF game that T.O still looked good and was an even better deep threat than Chad. His numbers so far with Cincy support this 12 rec for 143 in limited preseason action. So the T.O increase I agree with. Tebow is ehh, because every “expert” thought that he would be such a long term project trying to play QB in the NFL. The first preseason game however, showed that maybe he was already a little further along than everybody originally thought. Orton should remain the same to me, but he has had an execellent preseason. 3 TDs 0 INTs I think. Don’t quote me on those numbers. Jason Witten has dropped a few balls (two went for INTs), but that’s no reason to believe that the sky is falling in Dallas. T. Gonzalez I don’t know enough about his performance to really comment. That is my honest opinion.

  • Nphillyk

I agree with you to an extent of about 90%, however guys like T.O should have never been rated (83 OVR) as low as they were in the first place.

  • Simoni Lawrence

Simoni Lawrence just got cut. Sorry Bro.

Sean Smith has reportedly “lost a lot of the aggressiveness” he showed last season.
Smith has reportedly also struggled as a tackler.
