NBA 2K11 My Player Adds Press Conferences

Quite a bit coming out today for NBA 2K11 and here is another new nugget of info. There really hasn’t been much of anything said about improvements to My Player mode until now, with 2K Sports revealing the addition of post-game press conferences. “In NBA 2K11 you gotta take the podium for your own post-game press conferences. But watch what you say, your answers can earn you admiration or get you run out of town. Will you claim all the glory or will you praise your coaches?”

It remains to be seen what sort of impact press conferences would have on the career trajectory or playing time. In past games attempting something along these lines really didn’t mean much or it turned out to be too limited in scope and options. However it is at least a good sign that the mode is being worked on as it was pretty flat last year. Bringing in anything to spice it up with off the court elements is welcome.

Hope its not broken like RTG and Superstars modes from EA’s NCAA and Madden respectively. Looks good so far and selling me everyday with all the new info being released.

this game is goin to be the second greatest game of the year after REACH……

      • Anonymous

Ya sadly Reach will take up a shit ton of my time so i wont be able to play 2k as much.

  • alleniverson

welp im buying 2 copies of 2k now lol

  • Shomari

EA please take note…you’re getting KILLED in one player modes. This is the ONLY reason I buy NBA 2K and MLB the show.

    Total Domination….

If its anything like NFL2k5’s post game interviews….i think this is something that will look great as a screen (which it does), but will get old really quick. Now if Bioware was in charge of it, THEN we’d be talking.

For example, i LOVE Road to the Show and NHL’s Be a Pro and they dont really need this stuff to make a deep single-player-career. This sounds like the old having to do tests in NCAA Football thing in the end…sounds good, its authentic…but ill want to skip it after 2 or 3 times.

    Like the thinking though.

  • is there gonna be gonna be movements from the player or is it button next question with still the same picture

  • philly

Sounds really good, BUT my second thought was about how deep this will be. They could ham it up; have what you say affect whether the fans like you (could you be Lebron James like hated? Get booed in games?), maybe bold statements like we’re going to win the title gives your team a boost or a loss in certain attributes since that would add more media pressure. OR it could be stale and have no effect but just be an extra bit of presentation. We’ll see I guess, but it’s better than nothing. (would love it if they have voiceovers for your player and media guys instead of just text.)

  • Hungryandrew

Geesh, I havent seen such a landslide in my life. Elite, time for your dirtnap…goodnight.

  • Gamerz

NHL and (to a lesser extent) FIFA Be A Pro says “hi”

  • Dont know anything additional about it yet, this is probably just meant as a tease and they’ll detail it down the line.

  • Dan

The main thing I take from this is the the “get you run out of town” part because I assume that implies that we can be traded this year. At least that’s my hope. If they get that in along with contract negotiations I’ll be pretty happy.

  • Edgware

Damn…I’m probably still getting Elite but that looks sweet

  • philly

In fact, worldwide FIFA gives a big hello to that statement!

  • sounds good, but its going to take more than press confrences to make it feel more legit

If what you say in your presser has any affect on the basketball aspect of your players game then it will be useless. People will just say whatever will give them the best benefit. Having said that, this is a basketball game and not the WWE, so I don’t really see how deep they can go with this dialogue.

  • Sammy

Well, that sounds good but take a look at the player’s face. It still looks like trash. I mean, it doesn’t matter how much you change your gameface, it seems like it always looks the same. I actually wanna play with my personal player…

Nevertheless good job 2K, good job!

  • NoFro904

    k. Im Sold

  • NELL86

Wow 2k im really impressed it makes me think what yall could of done with a football game(awakens from dream)but in all seriousness 2k11 is looking like a hoop fans dream come true im not a 2k fan or a ea fan im a basketball fan and real recognize real

  • philly

Yea. I mean I agree, but with the imagination I have I hope it’s somewhat interesting in the dialogue choices. I just don’t want to be excited for something I end up turning off in a few games.

  • NoFro904

True. I really hope they do something with the create a player.

  • projectkage

I definitely like this. Talk about PRESENTATION!

  • This is great! This is the 2K I remember. I might actually buy this, and I HATE basketball.

  • Arod_111

Dude its just the concept of making u feel like u r actually on the b ball court.

  • Saucemoney01

    Why?

  • Arod_111

and offt the b ball court also

  • derrick paulus

    awesome blossom.. (the office reference)

  • Dre2778

Pasta what I want to know is, can you have an hr long special dubbed “The Decision” when you decide on your playing status and want to leave the team you are on if they suck….lol (~_^)

  • juan de leon

sounds cool, 2k is the way to go.

In wrestling it works. It keeps the story going and keeps in line with the general backstories that the game is trying to cultivate but in a basketball game, I really don’t see how this would be compelling in any sort of way. Just seems like unesscessary filler to me, but i guess having it is a small positive than not having it so no big deal.

  • philly

It could be filler, but it could be a Basketball RPG. Probably won’t be, but I think fans would like to see basketball games from an off the court angle. I know Sony tried to do that with one of it’s games. We’ll see. But as we’ve both said, at least it’s a small positive.

You really get the feeling of being on a “REAL” basketball court from playing a video game? WOW!!! You have some imagination.

  • Anonymous

you crazy or what? 60 bucks is enough..

  • LVRadio

Yuck G3 on the table. Gatorade and Whey Protein don’t taste good together. Ask Alvin Gentry.

  • Geeznutz

In the words of Darth Vader” the circle is now complete!” nba 2k11 here is my $60

  • Geeznutz

That picture scared me at first glance I thought it was Charles Barkley I was thinking they put in the 93 phoenix suns too!!! but o well

  • Is it me or does that guy look a TEENSY bit like Hines Ward? lmao, anyway great news, Im sure it’ll blow away Elite in the ratings

  • This is great! This is the 2K I remember. I might actually buy this, and I HATE basketball.

  • C71323

And yet no one takes any of your opinions into consideration Daley, so congrats. You act like you have basketball knowledge and like you have played before, but yet you have the slightest bit of knowledge of the game. You say what every other announcer is fed on tv.

  • Anonymous

What would be cool is if your comments affected in-game situations. If you piss off your coach, you get less playing, or if you make your team mad, they don’t pass you the ball as much. Something along those lines. I would like to see team chemistry this year in My Player. It would add a ton of depth. Although it felt like it was there in 2k10. I created Jordan and got drafted by the Bulls. I took Heinrich’s spot and every time he was subbed in, he pretty much refused to pass me the ball. Not sure if that was coincidence or actually programmed in because I knocked him out of the starting 5. In any case, I hope the press conferences don’t get repetitive, and that they are situational (ie. not after every game and not until you are actually a known player).

  • Quan

I’m getting NBA 2K11 !!!! Elite is no competition. Maybe next season EA.

  • Quan

Ship me one if you decide to go 3 haha.

  • Edgware

Already pre-ordered it. I dunno, I’m just kinda used to it, dumb reason I know. I doubt the video we saw today is the final quality but it was pretty unimpressive.

Only put 5 bucks down, who knows, I think they can transfer it. I’m not blind though, if the 2k11 demo is amazing and the Elite one is just terrible I’ll likely change my mind.

  • Anonymous

    ??????????

  • F2k

It’s entertaining to see how many people fall for 2K Sports’ cheap gimmicks. Enjoy the $60 shit pile, idiots.

  • Weaverlynn

i didnt think u could deny that this would be pretty kool but. lo and behold something negative again. daley u dont give no arguments about anything but bias to elite but u are a elite fanboy so i shouldnt have expected anything less

  • Makgo1

yeah i agree 2k will suck (sarcasm). just like Call of duty modern warfare (wink wink) everybody that plays its knows thats a horrible game… who cares about the ratings it gets or all the people that enjoy it. GIVE ME THAT GAME WITH THE LITTLE YARN BALL MAN COLLECTING ITEMS ON THE PS3 ANYDAY OVER CALL OF DUTY…………………………… NOT.

  • Arod_111

no stupid its called a simulation basketball game for a reason

  • Arod_111

and u can tell me if elite added this u wouldnt be all hyped up about it.
