NBA 2K11 Demo Coming Next Week

The demo for NBA 2K11 will be available on Tuesday September 14th for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. It will feature a single quarter of the Celtics vs Lakers but there are no further details on the structure as of yet. Previously it has been insinuated that the demo would include something unique (maybe a Michael Jordan “moment”) but in the announcement no mention was made of anything beyond the standard match-up.

Traditionally 2K Sports has not released demos this early, but it goes in turn with the marketing shift seen this year in which the company has outdone competitor EA Sports with the release of videos, screenshots, blogs, and now the first demo out. Last year with NBA 2K10 the demo arrived only days before the release of the game, due in large part to the Draft Combine being available on the marketplace. With that not in the way this year 2K was able to release the demo earlier. That in turn could lead to a more comprehensive early patch based on community feedback, which the company has missed the opportunity to take advantage of in the past.

Yes they do. For example, 2k’s past demos were sans commentary. So if you don’t consider that to be watered down, the I don’t know what else to say. Pretty much every company does it in order to reduce the file size of the demo (when it’s a download).

They had it in one of the NHL demos (Be a Pro mode) and parts of “The Life” in NBA 09 the Inside. They are also supposed to have a demo of Become Legendary in Elite’s demo, so it’s certainly not unheard of.

A long while back they talked about a big undertaking to improve online play. Haven’t heard anything since, and they’ve said that every year. We won’t know if online play is up to par until after it releases.

The type of innovative plays being ran in 2k11 is a thing of beauty, and the movements look great. And yet still no word about an Elite demo. It’s as if they aren’t even tryng to compete anymore. For this demo coming out (in about the same quality as last years) on Tuesday, while Pasta was predicting that Elite would have theirs on the 21st, makes me seem like they just sent a shot to the gut of Elite. No one (myself included) thought this demo would be coming out that early.

I think EA pissed off the 2K crew the last few years when they were trying to knock 2K out of this market, yet still couldn’t pass up 2K in sales. 2K is a bunch of sharks this year and they smell blood with EA reeling. When you have to start marketing the side game, NBA Jam, as like it’s almost your main game, you are seeing trouble. This 3 year project may get cut short with 2K showing everything right, while Elite keeps failing to show up with each video. If 2K can show us they fixed their online servers (which will be in a future insight), then they have a very good chance of shoving EA off the cliff

Justin relax. YOu still can’t set your rosters in NBA 2K prior to going online, OR your many settings. It takes 5 minutes b4 every game to do all the adjustments. Scoring in the paint is way too easy, an don’t tell me your the one guy that can D up, because nobody ever stopped me in the paint no matter if they were better or worse than me. The controls are still way too non user friendly to master. Now if you want to go right hit the stick left, if you want to spin hit triangle 3 times and tap your foot on the ground. It’s like a flight simulator.

I think Live 10>2K10 honeslty. Looking back I bought 2K10 because my boy was on the cover, because now that I rented Live 10 it’s a blast game. It is real laggy at times and I thought EA had the best servers.
