  • Stvsolano54

a little to nice with the ratings

    • cubs223425

Agreed. Immediately, Mauer’s 88 stuck out. They need to include an injury rating (if they don’t already…I thought it was removed a while back), and have it legitiamtely affect ratings. Mauer’s an 88 when healthy…which is about half the season. He should be more like an 82.

      • Testiclesack007

Joe Mauer is one of the best catchers out today.. The only downside to him is he isnt a power hitter. I agree the ratings are too generous for most players (like always with 2k games) but i think its about right on Mauer

        • cubs223425

Normally, yes, but seeing as he didn’t hit for power OR a high average last season, AND that he missed a lot of time, he should have dropped.

  • W axl rose

I like the rating although Brian Wilson needs to be rated higher. Pablo sandovol is rated the best 3b in the national league and is so that’s good , Pablo better be an 80 for range be ause last year he should have won th gold glove because he had the best range and fewest errors of any NL 3bman.

    • Steve

Ryan Zimmerman is light years ahead of Sandoval both offensively and defensively.

      • cubs223425

        He’s better, but not by great margins. I’d say Zimmerman’s 86 and Sandoval’s 84.

  • Seatown87

Felix should be higher, best pitcher in the game, not his fault he plays for a team that can not score. Who would you take over Felix to start a dynasty with? Kid is electric, and still so young

    • cubs223425

No. The only pitchers deserving of 90+ right now are (in order) Halladay, Verlander, Kershaw, Sabathia, and Lee. There coudl be an outside case for Greinke, but Hernandez is more of an upper-80s pitcher (86-89). Hernandez was 10th in WAR for MLB starting pitchers, tied with Bumgarner and behind Fister (a guy everyone knows will regress in 2012, so his 86 is also a little high).

My point is, even in his best season, Hernandez was rated the 5th-best pitcher (2009). In 2010, he was 6th. So he went from 5th to 6th to 10th, and you say he’s the best pitcher in the game?

Please. I’d take Verlander and Kershaw over Hernandez to start a team with today, but if I was to give the ball to anyone in baseball for Game 7 of the World Series, I’d pass over Hernandez for Halladay, Sabathia, Kershaw, Lee, Verlander, and maybe even Hamels, Haren, Weaver, and Wilson.

We’ve never seen Hernandez pitch in the postseason, so to anoint him the best in the game after 3 years of regression and no playoff starts is plainly ludicrous.

      • IDK

Albert Pujols deserves a 96 rating he didn’t hit .300 he didn’t get 100 RBI’s. I know r got injured and he is a good player but in 2K11 he was rated 105. He is too over rated

        • cubs223425

          1. RBI totals are a terrible tool for player evaluation.
          2. Ratings don’t go to 105.
          3. Yes, Pujols should be about a 96.

          • IDK

If you go in-game play mode and then, when Pujols is batting, you press pause, it will show his overall rating is 105.

        • Testiclesack007

he’s one of the greatest players ever… 99

    • Testiclesack007

had a rough year last year, but agreed. Kid is good!! And I’m an athletics fan..

    • Jellybeanjews

      Justin Verlander

  • asmckenna1215

Disappointed by Neil Walker and Joel Hanrahan’s ratings a little bit.  I don’t think they’re 90′s by any means, but they are better than low-80 overall players

  • Pete Rose

Flawed ratings are flawed. Everybody knows Joey Votto is the second best 1st basemen in the game.

  • JBackes33

    No Dave Robertson for set-up/reliever?

    • Sexy And I Cano It

I was thinking the same thing SMH

  • TheSpartanZombie

Great to see Craig Kimbrel with a 90 although I can’t figure out how Mo Rivera is still two points higher.

    • Sexy and I Cano It

Ummmmm because he’s the GREATEST CLOSER EVER!!!!

  • Mr. Confused

Should I buy mlb 2k12 for my xbox 360 or should I get mlb the show 12 for my ps3? please let me kno this wil be my first time buying a baseball game…

    • zzzz

They both have flaws. The Show is prettier though

  • Steve

Just played the Demo.. Literally the worst game ever created.. don’t waste you time or money these 2k douche bags.

  • JaysFan19

I like Lawrie at 86. Same rating as David Wright, although Lawrie has only played half a season. Big season for Lawrie this year.

  • Mtcorujo

Jeff Weaver making an appearance…Good to hear he is making a comeback

    • IDK

      *Jered Weaver

  • Salsmancody

How did valverde only get rated an 84 when he never blew a single save??? Talk about flaws in the ratings

    • Sexy And I Cano It

      This games ratings are HORRIBLE!!!

  • Clubguru35

Not for nothing pasta but can we get some gameplay vid’s up the game is out in 2 days and their isn’t much gameplay vid’s around.Stats are nice but id rather see gameplay.

  • Affmarlin

Heath Bell is a 84? Worst rating easily.

  • Mikedeleon9

how the F*ck is phil hughes rated higher than David Robertson???

  • Buddah

    No Darvish?

    • http://pastapadre.com/ pastapadre

No player can be in until they’ve officially appeared in one MLB game.

      • Units

but tateyamas still in? and he hasnt played in an mlb game?

        • guest

Hes a reliever for the Rangers.. he played like 30 games last year, get your facts straight.

  • dettigers39

Valverde=bell=soria=walden=santos=league???? I’ll believe that when me s**t turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert!

  • Guest

verlander is 99 only because he’s on the cover!

    • Smsixx

Yeah…it had nothing to do with being the first pitcher in over 20 years to win the MVP and Cy Young Awards the same season.

  • IceChief27

Where is Catcher Sal Perez of the Royals. Buster Olney of ESPN has him graded as an elite level Catcher as a 21 year old rookie. Also what about Alcides Escobar. He is one of the games best defensive shortstops, has excellent speed and should hit .260 with room for improvement. He should be top 10 in the league easy.

  • Lordtabou

    Wheres Darvish?

  • Jarod

If they had the NBA 2K12/MLB 2K12 promo deal for PS3 I might consider since they have the new playoff format. Although I’ll probably just stick with MLB 11: The Show until next year.

  • IDK

Where is David Ortiz I couldn’t find him?

  • Rangers

Since I am going to be playing my seasons with Texas and I want Darvish I am going to create him! Would like someones ideas on what ratings I should give him to be realistic….

  • Colemarston

Miguel Cabrera over Longoria?? I can see how offensivley hes got the edge but defensively hes WAAAAAAY worse than Longoria…shotld at least be the same

    • Attardj2015

are you kidding me miguel cabrera should just as good as pujols, just cause he doesn’t have the defensive game as them doesn’t mean hes not as better. This game is based on offense and pitching, not defense

  • Nathan Lewis

I think they did a bad job on rating theplayer because they have Jon Lester at 88 and he should be at 92 overall and they have Alex Gorden better then Carl Crawford in 2k12

  • Baseballkid2

david robinson should be the top middle/setup releiver

  • Guest

I love how Stephan Strasburg hasn’t even pitched a season yet and he’s ranked higher than Zack Grienke, Dan Haren and lots of other pitchers who have proven themselves in the MLB

  • Brandon

Where is Michael Young?!?! Hands down the most underrated and unappreciated player in the MLB

  • Wesley Buck

how is valverde only a 84 49 for 49 saves is better than 84

  • Tounge06

I think Freese Should increase to 87-90
    The Man is clutch!
