Your Thoughts on NBA 2K13′s First Gameplay-Related News

2K Sports hyped the Jay-Z news as the biggest announcement for NBA 2K13 but in reality what really matters in the end started to emerge late last week with the first actual gameplay and feature info. Reaction has been almost universally positive to the announced aspects such as the change in controls with dribble moves shifting to the right analog stick, improvements to passing, better contact physics, voice command functionality with Kinect for Xbox 360, and the addition of “signature skills” for players.

It’ll be interesting to look at the variation in results of the earlier poll related to Jay-Z and the one below regarding the latest gameplay news. That analysis will likely come late this week. Be sure to vote in the poll below and leave additional thoughts in the comments!

they are changing their controlls for the 3rd time in like 3 years, i donnot feel the need to wait an entire month to adjust to them, im not picking this game up

and there mere fact that for the past 2 2k nba games it was near impossible ot make 3 team trades in association and the fact that they could care less about user vs cpu gameplay is deterring me from another purchase for a year or so

  I do agree that the AI needs a lot of work. But moving the dribble controls to the right stick and separating it from the feet is a necessary change. I’m surprised it took them so long to do it.

great direction. Smart move to change to the new control scheme. I don’t see why anyone would complain about obvious improvements. Is it really that difficult to make the minor adjustments need to enjoy a better control scheme?

My thoughts are wow! 2K does it again! They never seize to amaze me! They’re adding everything I’ve been asking for in the game! If Live had any hopes of competing within the next few years, I think this officially puts a nail in their coffin. Now only if they can fire the 2K insider & get someone in there who knows how to update rosters then I’ll be one happy camper lol. Dam looks like my yearly cycle will continue. I’ll get Madden & play it for about a month & then when 2K comes out it puts Madden to shame lol.

  Sounds about right. I can only hope Madden13 stays in my game library longer than the short 2 weeks that Madden12 did. It doesn’t take me much longer than that to recognize another EA turd in a shiny new wrapper.

    This wouldn’t happen if you didn’t buy it ever year. Generally I tend to wait 2-3 (usually 3) years between sports titles (my last Madden was ’10, planning on getting ’13). You can actually see a difference in that time. If EVERYBODY took a few years off, perhaps they’d (sports gaming companies) would realize it’s better to have a 2-3 year development cycle with $10-12 roster updates every year.

      The gaming companies don’t decide to release their games every year. The sports companies do. The NBA, NFL, MLB, etc. give them a timeline in return for using the logos, team names, etc.

  You’re kind of douchey… but I’ll totally agree that the Jay-Z announcement was a NON-announcement. As a matter of fact, from someone who can only stomach rap “music” in 10-20 second increments, it’s more likely to turn me off to buying it. I really wish they’d let us create our own soundtracks like NFL 2k5 did. I can’t believe that is something that disappeared this generation.

  It’s not whether or not people care about the news. It’s whether they find it positive or negative, or don’t really feel one way or the other. The majority didn’t give a shit about Jay-Z or felt negatively about it. Gameplay news, on the other hand, usually has a more mixed reaction. That’s what the poll is for. But, hey, don’t bother to read before you post.

Excited about the Dribble stick… but I did really like the shot stick.. curious to see if the shooting now just the square button.

  I believe the initial post stated that the shot stick will still be there; you just use the left trigger/L2 as a modifier to activate it.

You people are ridiculous, they clearly ripped this design! Dribbling with the right stick has been around since nba live 05, yet everyone is raving like this just changed the game of basketball.
