Bryce Harper a Candidate for Cover of MLB 13: The Show

Bryce Harper is the first player to announce his candidacy for the cover of MLB 13: The Show having done so on Twitter and through an article on Kotaku.

This is the first year in which The Show has involved fans in the selection of a cover athlete. Other players will be revealing their involvement in the process throughout the month that will almost certainly make Harper a long shot to actually win. Regardless it’s remarkable that a rookie season could catapult a player into such a discussion.

Harper was not one of the initial five players released in screenshots earlier this month accompanying the announcement of the planned cover vote. Many assumed that group of five players would end up being the candidates so it’s wide open at this point as to who will be involved. Voting on the cover will begin on January 7 and will need to be resolved in quick fashion.

Another gimmick to take away from the fact the game is getting stale and the developers are providing little improvement

boo get off the stage harper my boy Panda from SF giants will be cover boy! 3 home runs in the world series is enough for me.

Can’t wait to see what these guys have in store for the best sports game on the market, both PS3 and Vita — especially with regard to TruBroadcast 2.0 and True Ball Physics 2.0 (already mentioned by Russell over on OS).

“True ball physics” wasn’t this the gimmick from last year

      • Keith.

Any baseball purist will tell you that accurate ball physics is no gimmick. Anything they do to improve what they started last year with that will be appreciated.

SO the ball physics got “more real”? Come on Keith, if this was Madden you would be calling this for the b.s. that it is.

the Show is a great game but has been regressing or remaining stagnant since ’09. Franchise mode has not been touched, online is trash, budgets and AI logic are random at best and all they hang they have to hang their hat on is “ball physics”.

          • Keith.

Actually, I’ve been calling for realistic ball physics in Madden for at least 8 years, so I wouldn’t be calling it b.s. if this were Tiburon.

  • It would be cool if they had a candidate form each team.

fix franchise mode sh*t is getting old, fix hof inductees for the game too its ridiculous that its been broken for years

plus they need to fix stat tracking on player cards like stolen bases, run scored etc. list the team they played on too and allow me to switch teams i own!
