MLB 08: The Show 3/17 roster update
March 17, 2008 by pastapadre

A new roster update has been released for MLB 08: The Show. There were 37 player movements made for this week’s live roster with those below having been highlighted.
3B Eric Chavez moved from A’s Position to A’s Minors.
CP Brad Lidge moved from Phillies Minors to Phillies Closer.
RP Tom Gordon moved from Phillies Closer to Phillies Relief.
RP Francisco Rosario moved from Phillies Relief to Phillies Minors.
SP Sidney Ponson moved from No Team to Rangers Minors.
3B Andy LaRoche moved from Dodgers Bench to Dodgers Minors.
RF Delwyn Young moved from Dodgers Minors to Dodgers Bench.
3B Jorge Cantu moved from Marlins Minors to Marlins Position.
3B Dallas McPherson moved from Marlins Position to Marlins Minors.
SP Sergio Mitre moved from Marlins Starting to Marlins Minors
It’s pretty remarkable that not only does SCEA release in-depth roster updates weekly (attributes, trades, injuries, signings) but that they even go to the extent of doing so during spring training. These are transactions that generally would’ve been ignored and deemed unimportant considering the time of year with the first significant update usually being the one for opening day.

How do you access this roster update without going through your PS2 or 3? Is there some place where you can download it onto your computer and then onto the memory card?
Hey Pasta,
Do you know if there will be a opening day roster update for MLB 2k8?

that was one of their targets, they gave I think 5 or 6 different times they would try and get an update out. But considering they havent fixed the online lobbies or lag, or gotten up the online league webpages…who knows.
Does Sony have any plans to have any downloadable content for The Show, such as classic stadiums, more classic uniforms or classic teams?
I sure hope so. I would love to see old Tiger Stadium in wonderful next-gen bliss…..
dear pasta
a lot of people( me includet) have problems to go online with MLB 08 the show : there is a serverproblem at sony’s

Hey Pasta,
Are you having trouble logging into PSN on your PS3 with The Show? Every time I boot up the game, it seems to freeze on the “Retrieving License Agreement” screen. I went ahead a took a look at Official MLB 08: The Show forums and it seems like a bunch of ppl are having the same issue for several days now and Sony has been mute as to the reason behind the problem.
Just wondering if you have any connections at SCEA that might be able to explain what is going on and when it will be fixed.
Thanks…

man, when will they create Evan Longoria and Koskue Fukudome?!?!
How are you able to update the roster in the mlb 08 the show. The Cubs dont have the new players like john lieber and kosukome fukudome. Send me a message as soon as possible thanks.
I like roster updates, but Sony has to let us use them mid season and mid franchise. The only point in having them is to play using them and you can’t use them in an already started franchise etc. So then there’s no point except online play which is terrible. I want Sony to let us download the roster updates and apply them to a season, to a franchise even if we already started one. Otherwise I could not care less about roster updates.
One thing also is Sony needs to in the SC announcement updates tell us everything about the roster update, not just a few highlites.
And how in the world can they put Eric Chavez 3b for the A’s in the minors when he is in the majors? That’s just stupid. Did the A’s move him to the minors cus he sucks or something? I doubt they would ever put him in the minors.

The whole point of franchise mode is once you start it all developments come from inside the mode. Progression, trades, free agent pickups, ect. It would make no sense at all having a roster update wipe out everything thats happened in your franchise mode. The updates are good to give you a more accurate base to start from depending on when you start it.
Yeah I understand that however I want my Franchise team rosters to mimic real life rosters. I do like when cpu trades between itself though.
So I still can’t see any reason to care about roster updates when they don’t mean anything except online play and online play is terrible.
At the least I want opening day roster, all star, trade deadline and end of season. Weekly is taking their time away from bug fixes and so forth in my opinion and weekly is totally unnecessary. Specially when they don’t give you enough info at all on them.
Pasta,
Any word if Sony will release add-ons for The Show, such as classic stadiums, players, more jerseys and teams???
hey pasta watever happen fukudome fron da cubs i did a roster update and hes not wit da cubs or minor league teams or free agent and i reset da rosters and hes not there either so i was wondering if u know wat happen
