Scrapped Facebreaker Venues
April 11, 2008 by pastapadre

Thanks to the official Facebreaker website we have two examples of concept art in planetarium and skate venues that didn’t make the final cut. Pretty neat ideas and makes you wonder what type of venues they’ll have in the game if these didn’t make the final cut. Click the thumbnails below to view the two images.
For some reason I hadn’t even thought about the idea of fighting in non-traditional environments. It does fit the over-the-top nature of the game though and will add to the fun factor. So what type of unique settings would you like to have fights staged in?

First one look amazing, especially the sky

Another screen from All-Pro Football 2K8 has found its way out. It features one more in the line of over-the-top stadiums. This one is for the team called the Beasts. Click the thumbnail below to see the full size image.
Okay…so seriously this beyond ridiculous now. That is really the only word I can think of to describe it, ridiculous. It was bad enough the giant bird. It was bad enough giant scorpions, rhinos, and beehives. It was even worse the offensive Indians team and stadium. Even after seeing the others this one was hard to believe.
This is a simulation type game correct? Don’t you want to present an environment that would represent that? Is this respecting their legacies? You can make unique stadiums without them becoming science-fiction presentations.
I wonder how the legends who signed on to this game are going to feel about being involved in this now. After designating some of the legends as better than others with their gold/silver/bronze tier system, and having them play in preposterous stadiums, I wonder if any will be having second thoughts about having their names associated with this game.

I think its pretty obvious. One was a simulation using historical NFL players. The other is an arcade game using fictional over-the-top characters and action. So if Prizefighter tried to go crazy with the environments that wouldn’t make much sense but it definitely does for Facebreaker.
id like to maybe see one on the top of a mountain, in a volcano, or in the jungle. itll be cool to find out what theyve thought up cause i wouldnt have guessed the two up there
right… its different, i understand
Why did they scrap the Fight Night series? The game was great fun (although career mode needed to be much deeper). The controls were revolutionary (at the time) and spot on. It really seemed like they had a strong foundation to build on in that game and they just shut it down.
Prematurely…

They didn’t. Fight Night Rd 4 is currently in development (EA Canada) for a 2009 release. The previous studio (EA Chicago) was closed but they never canceled the game. EA wouldn’t end a franchise that is pretty much guaranteed to sell 2+ million copies.

LOL. “Well thanks, Fred, I was not aware of that!” C’mon, Pasta, we know you’re EA’s hired gun but your comment is just a little too sweet towards EA. You, a heck of a lot more interesting things are going on with Prizefighter right now, such as a dedicated website being constructed and would go live no later than next Tuesday. Instead you feature two scrapped venues for Facebreaker? “Why don’t we all gather around a campfire and talk about all the venues we would like Facebreaker to have?”
