First Madden 09 producer blog
April 10, 2008 by pastapadre

In what is sure to be the start of many more to come leading up to release, EA Sports has posted the first producer blog for Madden 09. Daniel Castorani (D-Cas) opens it up for 09.
While this one doesn’t include specific details about the game (still too early for that) it does go into some of the philosophies and goals that the development team are aiming for this year. Some of the topics touched on include making the game more accessible and what that means, glitches from last year that have been addressed, and how the community has directly influenced the game.
You can check out the full blog entry here.

sounds pretty good cant wait for the first real news on the game
They said last years madden was the best ever. We’ll have to see.
Here they go again talking about this is shaping up to be the best madden ever…they say the same stuff year after year…i wont believe until i get the game in my hands.

The producer blogs last year did a good job of displaying what was new or improved with the game. I don’t remember them promising it was the best ever. You can look back to IGN & Gamespot for that.
So they are dumbing it down so a noob can pick up the sticks and compete! Just the crap I expected! Im not impressed by this doosh bag. I wont be until I purchase a quality Madden game.
They say the same crap every year. The same sewage thats flowing out of the hole in this guys head.

IDK as I recall I think I do remember them saying that last year…but maybe i do need to go back and check but i could sworn i seen them say the same thing last year.

You’re probably right. I don’t like that head coach is a separate game from madden. This just means Madden franchise mode isn’t going to be that good.
“I feel like we are past the transitional challenges and ups-and-downs that we experienced in the early years of Next Gen.”
“I’m going to go out on a limb right now and say that Madden 09 has not only “caught up” but it has surpassed CG from a sheer feature standpoint.”
Finally…It’s such a relief to finally see Tiburon make those statements. No more excuses, it’s time for a next-gen Madden game that exceeds expectations.
The main question is what role will Earl have in the game compared to last years?
I’m very concerned with this “more accessible” attitude. Ideally, this would be a minor tweak to the gameplay mechanics, but knowing EA’s “subtle as a sledgehammer” touch with new features, maybe we are back to the days of nothing but long passing plays and going for it on 4th-and-15.
Any word on if they are going to fix the glitch in which the cornerbacks just simply can’t seem to grasp the sweep plays? Example every time you run a sweep the AI corners go inside and it’s ridiculously easy to run around them. This has been a problem for years in Madden and it drives me crazy.
P.S. users better be able to return missed field goals with D Hester this year!
Great to see news starting to come out, hopefully it won’t be too much news, I don’t need to be hooked on a game that hasn’t came out yet like I am with grand theft auto IV lol
Nice read I just hope they put edit player positions back into the game, its such a small feature but its so important. It was nice to be able to edit players in 08 but we couldn’t edit players positions and that hurt.
from reading some stuff about Head Coach on various sites…i don’t think the gams is GOOD ENOUGH yet to be a solo title…that’s why they are selling it with madden…because basically it’s a stripped-down, first-run of the game they want it to be eventually…i dont think Head Coach is going to be the game that everyone thinks it will be…at least not this year anyway…
Just getting NG back to the PS2/Xbox ‘04-’06 stage will be a huge improvment!
Also, sounds like there may be a possibility of some kind of “entry level” mode coming on the disk.
PTR
I have one problem with something that was mentioned in the blog. They talked about how they got feedback from gamers about glitches in the game and they are working to fix those for this years version. What exactly do the have testers for? I mean some of these issues you would think a tester would be able to find with minimal time with the game.
“Think about it… the level of depth and advanced features are the very things that have made Madden what it is today.”
We’ve thought about it plenty. What it is today is a disappointing, frustrating, underachieving game that wastes the NFL and ESPN licenses.
Madden 08 was drenched in blog hype. It will take more than that to drum up legitimate excitement.
