NCAA Football 09 debut trailer

Gametrailers has posted the first trailer for NCAA Football 09. Pretty much everything that has been discussed about the game is on display in the video.
You can really see the vast improvements that have been made (and previously seen in the screenshots) to the player models, lighting, and environments. The footage showing the wide open gameplay looked really fluid and natural. Noticed the home field advantage made the receiver routes unsteady which is interesting. Hopefully we’ll find out more on how home field impacts the games. Also displayed is the online dynasty, custom stadium sounds, roster sharing, and mascot games.
The whole trailer basically recaps everything we’ve heard about NCAA Football 09 and seen in the screenshots that have been released thus far. Continue on to check it out.

Basically dynasty mode as you would play it offline only with other people controlling some of the teams in the dynasty. It would then sync up results, transactions, ect and if you faced one of those people you’d play the game against them online. You’d all be playing within the same dynasty. I’d imagine there will be a limit to the number of users (I’d guess 16 max or maybe 8). Any more than that and you’d be pretty much guaranteed it would stall sooner or later thanks to someone disappearing.
We don’t have full details on how it’ll work yet though. I’m sure that’ll be coming down the line.

I’m very impressed with the fluid movements of the players. One of the few things I loved in APF 2K8 was how realistic all of the movements were and I’m seeing that in NCAA 09. The tackles, the jukes, the catches, the tipped balls all looked very life like in the trailer. I have to say after this, I’m really looking forward to the game.
Damn… You basically would have to do a dynasty w/ someone who is reliable LOL. Sounds like a good idea but some of these dudes dont pay they bills, do you know if the online play will be tweeked to make it better bro?

I believe they are working hard to get online play running well this year. I think with the addition of this feature its even more important and would imagine that they’d understand that. I don’t think they’d roll out a big new online centric feature otherwise. But I have my hesitation towards it still since last year was supposed to be better and it wasn’t.

NCAA will be better then Madden this year if NCAA works on their servers. That is the only thing holding them back. Besides online servers NCAA>Madden .
Freaking beautiful. The only slight downer was that it appears that roster sharing via the EA Locker might be limited to people on your friends list. Other than that, thumbs up.
Looks great, but…no referees?
I didn’t notice any, but I’ll wait for confirmation. Maybe they’ll be there in the finished product.

Mascots celebrating the TDs are the best thing in the trailer. All the rest looks like your typical EA cut promo trailers that always make the game look great and wonderful only to be let down.
I saw some good animations, but I also saw some poor animations as well. I’m sure that missed catch into an INT thing looks cool now, but is probably a canned animation and gets old after the 50th time.
Hopefully, once someone actually plays the game, I’m wrong.
Those mascot TD celebrations are dope though.

When the WR tipped the ball and the CB picked it out of the air. I have been waiting for this type of ball physics for years! now lets hope it is transferred to Madden. lol.

Also, what is the big deal if refs are on the field or not? Seems pointless.

I hope that the game includes the following alternate uniforms:
1) ND greens
2) FSU black (hate FSU but these uniforms are sweet)
3) Clemson purple
4) Oregon (all versions including the white and the God awful yellow helmets)
5) Syracuse orange (they suck but include them anyway)
Online dynasty looks great. I have to admit the game looks better than what I was expecting. My only concern is if you noticed all the dynasty teams were different/no one was playing each other? How will dynasty work if you end up playing someone else?

Please push EA hard on the following points and get us some answers:
-Will there be D1AA teams?
-Will we have bowl patches?
-Will we have bowl presentation (no more generic endzones in bowl games)?
-Field goal nets and refs in the game?

another thing i noticed is the coca cola add that comes up during the formation audibles. I hope there is no excessive advertising.
At the end why is the Notre Dame running back celebrating with the BC eagle? Did I see that wrong?…because no one else has commented on that. Other than that though, wow! Graphics look amazing. Next Gen has arrived! The screenshots gave us hope but this video proves it, there is a dramatic difference compared to 08. This game is going to be good.
I liked the ND runningback doing the hesiman on that hoe. Anyway, I hope there is a flag for diving into the endzone.

Pasta do you think Madden will have an online franchise mode? All it would have to be is for a few people, nothing big but have all the options of franchise just like NCAA has recruiting and everything from that video.

Unlike other details, referees are actually ON THE FIELD with the players. Pointless? You have to be kidding.
And Pasta, whether or not you want referees getting in the way of things, that’s irrelevant. Referees are part of the game.
I’m sure Tom Brady would rather not worry about hitting a ref with a football, but referees are PART OF THE GAME OF FOOTBALL. Don’t let EA slide on this. Excluding them is lazy and unrealistic. Who cares about subtle stadium lighting improvements when they’re playing some alternate universe football game that doesn’t need officiating?
As it was posted earlier, bowl patches and proper endzones for bowl and championship games are a must this year. As for the refs, it would have been nice if they were there.
Is the add a sound part limited to EA music in game or can u put your own MP3s there.. Hells Bells by ACDC at the Horeshoe is gonna be sweet if so..

You know what it really is? It’s the inexcusable, stubborn reluctance of EA to include something that should be in there (and was in there). That’s what gets to me.

I don’t understand how you guys can take a trailer of about 1 minute in length that is mostly replay clips of actual game play and think that there are no refs in the game. Just because they didn’t put the refs into the trailer doesn’t mean they aren’t in the game. The game is still 3 months off so there is still stuff do add I’m sure of it. Plus how do you take this video as the all and mighty final say. They could have just left the ref footage out.
Details, I’m totally with you man! I’ve been saying this for years now! No matter what they add to they game, I just can’t take the game as serious without REFS ON THE FIELD! Where’s the CHAIN GANG? I’ve been playing EA Sports games sine 1992. We had refs & chain gangs in Madden’92 & you mean to tell me we can’t have them in 2008? I’ve said that I understand with the move to “NEXT GEN” there’s going to be somewhat of a learning curve, but come on EA this is the 4th year & still no refs? Those of us who are die hards expect nothing but the best & as close to realism as possible. Oh yea & don’t take features away that we had years ago only to put them back in & call them “NEW FEATURES”! THAT’S BS! All that said, the gameplay does look promising.

It looks like a saw a “REF” make a personal foul call on the field in the Marshall game in the video towards the end… Not sure what that means but I dont remember seeing that at all last year. Just a penalty called with no refs at all.

And what was/is with the height of the shoulder pads in ‘08??? Who cares!!! 0-100, I REALLY don’t understand some of the things they put into ‘08 game. I thought it was aweful. They should’ve given everyone’s money back. Like the other poster…. have had every game going back to the early 90’s. And why did it seem that the players heads were leaning too forward?

I really don’t get the emotion about refs on the field during game play. They have a ref to make the calls where it matters and adds to the presentation, they don’t have them on field because they get in the way and can be confusing. I would also guess that they maximize the graphics and framerate by limiting the number of guys on the field. Any word on PS3 running at a faster framerate this year? We got screwed on PS3 compared to Xbox last year.
This game looks awesome from this vid, the gameplay looks sweet and online dynasty is huge for me. As for refs and other stuff like FG nets
