NFL Head Coach 09 will have standalone release

April 22, 2008 by pastapadre

Just two weeks ago I wrote how the possibility EA Sports would change their decision to make NFL Head Coach 09 exclusive to the Madden 09 Collector’s Edition was still very much alive. Today EA made it official that the game will be out the first week of September to coincide with the opening of the NFL season as a standalone title and will retail for $49.99

This development doesn’t change the value of purchasing Head Coach and Madden together (save $20 plus getting it three weeks early) but it does make it possible for anyone who wants to pick up Head Coach (whether it is because they don’t want Madden or already own it) to do so.

You have to be stupid to just pick them up alone and if you just want madden you might as well add $20 and get the collectors edition.

Hey Pasta, how about posting Jake Long in a Miami Dolphins uniform now that he’s officially signed? Might as well get the draft pictures going early!

Good decision on EA’s part to release Head Coach 09 separately, although I’m sure most people will buy the combo pack.

Well, of course. This is the biggest NON-news I’ve seen. (Outside of Britney in rehab again… but I digress.) I stated earlier when that EA guy said this that he was fulla poopie and that there was no way they would NOT release it alone.

Why they even went through this runaround is puzzling. I can only imagine that it was the new guy and his office mates set him up to look like a dumbass.

because the draft pictures are released by EA and are of Madden 09 which Pasta, respectively, would not be able to do

Are they having this game alone for the xbox 360 or are they having this on ps2 and xbox? and if you can draft players would it be the 2008 nfl draft and if it is the draft would be over already

It is for PS3 and Xbox 360, and I’m sure like they always had it you can re-do the draft with this years class.

Thanks for the info. Also, in order to have Jake Long in a Dolphins uniform, Pasta would have to import him from NCAA 08. Might be easier to just wait until Saturday, unless EA releases the picture early.

i think people who purchase head coach as a standalone release are going to be seriously disappointed…i have a gut feeling that EA’s choice to release it with the MADDEN collector’s edition had more to do with the game being a better accessory to madden rather than a full game on its own…this game is going to be a shell of what many people think it is going to be…remember this is the first year of the head coach franchise in next gen…and first year franchise games are almost a lock to be a pile of junk and light on features…i think EA knew that…but with so many people clamoring for the game as its own release…EA decided it couldn’t say no to a little extra money…
