Prizefighter X-Play preview

A new video preview of Don King Presents: Prizefighter has been posted as it was featured on G4’s X-Play. I’m going to withhold my personal thoughts on the gameplay footage, so go ahead and watch it and leave your thoughts in the comments. I’ve also added a quote from the Prizefighter producer below which came out of a preview today and was pretty interesting to see.
At this point if the game is going to make its release it is at least in the certification process, if not already having gone gold. Continue on to view the video.
But for executive producer Matthew Seymour, who with Top Spin created a serious match for the likes of Virtua Tennis, and steered Amped 3 from its predecessors’ dry precision to being deliriously playful, FN3 may have been beautiful, but it was also shallow. “It’s bullshit that it redefined fighting, and it’s time to move on,” he says, criticizing its failure to utilize 3D space, its “terrible” career mode, and its unrealistically slow analogue movement…Seymour is proud, then, that Prizefighter’s controls are digital and are rooted in the likes of Street Fighter II.
wow, can’t wait until Fight Night Round 4.
wow…for a fighting system that was supposed to resemble the likes of StreetFighter…it sure looked shaky, forced, and uncomfortable…to make matters worse, the cast of fighters in the game is PUTRID…and the career mode has just one path? where is the replayability? at least in FN you can choose your career path and the matches you fight…clearly this is not a sports game as much as it is a fighting game with a story such as Mortal Kombat…i think i will gladly wait for FNR4…

That looks awful, but who could have guess with it coming from the makers of the ultra-great Rocky games, lol. Please. And this fool producer is what is wrong with 2K. What an unprofessional tool.
I really had high hopes for this game because I love boxing but the gameplay doesn’t look good at all. If 2k is going to decide to make a boxing game then they should’ve realized what they were going up against in Fight Night. If the gameplay isn’t as good as Fight Night then it will be a failure. I think 2k realizes now that the gameplay isn’t up to par & that’s why they’re trying to sell us on the “cool” story mode, but at the end of the day it’s really gameplay that will make or break a boxing game. After watching some of the videos, I wish 2k would’ve invested all the resources they spent on this game into College Hoops to keep that series alive. Fight Night 4 can’t get here soon enough.
I’m gonna disagree with you early posters. I think the direction and the look and presentation of PF is top notch. The gameplay videos, that none of you made, shows the basic mechanics, are you privy to info on button combos, or defensive moves? NO. Have you faced the CPU A.I? NO. Aren’t you just piling on? Yes. A month ago Pasta piled on this game, and ALL OF YOU FOLLOWED HIS RANT. You fail to realize that Pasta WOULD NEVER PREFER A 2K GAME OVER AN EA GAME IN THE SAME GENRE. He thinks they’ll take away his preview/early release credentials. lol. when IGN ran their full preview, the game read like it had promise, and looked great. Now on PASTA PADRE site, this game blows. GREAT. And LIVE 5 on 5 is more fun than NBA2k8, sure pasta. I see all these facebreaker previews instead of relevant PF updates that have flooded the net since your little video dis day. And now you come back two weeks later talking about you’ll save your personal comments for later, why? You never save your personal comments, say you don’t like it, say FN4, which isn’t out yet, is the greatest boxing game ever. I tune in just to see your profound bias, enjoy your EA football day, don’t forget your EA underwear.
^^^Classic. I think its funny when you post a vid and people act like they played the game LOL. Facebreaker will be… Terrible. Look at this website and the content, disgusting. Backbreaker is looking like they with merge w/ a company (posted on its website), any news on that? EA all day. If this is a EA site, just say it. But dont act like you are not fanboys when you are… Live over 2K? Whoa LOL. That game was 40 bux after a week or so LOL.
All EA has is nfl and college f-ball… They suck at everthing else

Gameplay looks mediocre at best, the extras and training seem cool, and I liked the Rocky references.

Well I had high hopes for this game, but after see all the Gameplay video im pretty dissapointed. It looks like Venom did alot of good things in this game (customization/story mode/ref in ring/detail), but from the looks of it the most important thing (Gameplay/control/animations/hit detection) looks shabby at best…..I will still ned to play the finished product to give my True opinion, but so far, im not as exited as i was before i saw the gameplay videos….

This game is straight bullcrap, and only the most die-hard 2K fanboys would say this game looks good. It looks like a ps1 game! 2K should be ashamed of themselves for making such garbage. No wonder they hid this crap for so long and they STILL won’t show any REAL gameplay with only a week to go before it’s released!! They show 30 second snippets of fighting! How about showing a full 2 rounds of boxing? Of course they won’t do that because then they KNOW that people won’t buy this junk!! Save your 60 bucks fellas and take your girl out to dinner or something, but don’t buy this bullcrap!!
This is the best game ever, Gamespot is going to give it a 9.9 out of 10.

One of the producers of PF told Operation Sports that all these videos that are out now are fron early builds of the game, and that the final product is way better than these latest videos, YEAH RIGHT!!!
