NBA Live 365 Trailer

July 23, 2008 by pastapadre

EA Sports has released a new trailer for NBA Live 09, this one spotlighting the 365 feature. As detailed previously, this will update the game every day based on the latest data and not just in terms of ratings or roster movement. It will add in new players after their first appearance, update tendencies, reflect injuries, and lead into hot and cold streaks. The trailer also goes into NBA Live Rewind which allows you to replay any game from last season or the upcoming one with the AI and rosters that were specific to those games at the time.

Continue on to view the trailer and leave your thoughts in the comments.

lol. the thing about the dna that is not that good is that it doesnt effect ur dynasty and it also wont be in effect till the start of the season and the game comes out before the start so u wont see the effects. and also u wont see the dna come into effect after the season is over and u have about five months until the next season starts soo thats gonna suck..but besides all that its going to be a cute feature..lol

hey pasta, when does info about ncaa basketball games (or game this year) usually come out

  5. pastapadre on July 23rd, 2008 11:04 am Quote

Not sure on NCAA yet, I would imagine sometime next month.

Armando- of course it won’t affect ongoing dynasties, but you’ll be able to start them with the latest data, even letting you choose from any day’s

hey Pasta, can you change the pic to show the Chinese kid on the Nets? He was traded for Jefferson wks ago and it seems kinda weird to see “new” info w/an “old” pic………..btw, I’ve always been a 2K baller and I have to admit, I might actually rent both ballers this year and pay closer attn to reviews.

Loving this feature and the NHL 09 MMO feature. This will be a big year for EA and sports gaming in general. It will be interesting to see how smooth these things will actually run. Hopefully it will be problem free but who knows. Is this DNA thing only going to be for NBA Live or will we see this is Madden 2010, NHL 2010, etc.

  8. JG on July 23rd, 2008 11:23 am Quote

I don’t see how anyone can complain about such a great feature as DNA. I just wish there was an option to use it with your dynasty but it’s still a great feature.

my prediction is 2k will be an amazing game but live will finally be right there with it. We finally get a real choice people!

it would be cool if it updated appearance wise too

I totally agree w/chea. I remember when Nash went from long hair to the shaved head right b4 the season started and it made the game feel dated, right out of the box. Some guys could do a fro one night and rows the next. Or Gasol going w/the Jesus look and then shaing. Hockey players grow beards for the playoffs and 365 could be used for appearances in the game ya know?! Good idea…

Pasta, then that’s really no different than any other sports title when it ships. When 2K9 ships some players wont be on their correct team, so usually a roster patch is released following the game release. The only thing EA is offering above a roster patch is a specifc day you can start your dyansty. Players dont move around the league that much so it really doesnt mean much, besides Marketing purposes.

I really don’t understand how you can be a fan of the game and not appreciate or be excited about the potential the “DNA” feature has. All in all it talks a great game, the only question is will it perform as advertised?

Aside from that, I didn’t realize the ongoing dynasties were NOT affected by logging in online and getting up to date information. That is a big time bummer, as the dynasties are the meat and potatos of the game. I’m still looking forward to the feature though, just hoping it’s as good as advertised.

I still have my doubts. EA just doesn’t deserve to get the benefit of the doubt that the game will be any good based on how live has been crap since going next gen. I hope I am wrong, and that this game is awesome. Just don’t believe the hype yet.

  23. Dr Logic on July 23rd, 2008 3:46 pm Quote

365 is an important feature and I’m glad ea has added to their game. However, don’t think for one second that they’re magically going to be better then 2k this year.

EA has a nasty habit of over advertising features in their games to the point where the height of the hype towers over the actual quality and implementation of the feature itself, which can only lead to one thing…Disappointment.

While the concept of 365 is phenomenal, live is still too far back in the game play department(and yes I’m aware of their current improvements.) Think about it, most sports games run on a 1 year development cycle, leaving almost no time to gain ground on a competitor, therefore making it next to impossible (barring a buyout) for live to catch 2k. That’s not to say that live won’t improve every year, it will, but so will 2k.

And considering that the live development team was brain dead the first 3 years of their titles introduction to next gen, I would say that 2k has a pretty hefty overall lead, features, game play, presentation and visuals alike.

    Your thought Pasta?

Ummm..I’m a hardcore NBA 2K guy…and this looks AWESOME. Gameplay looks pretty nice as well. It’s about time.

  25. pat on July 23rd, 2008 6:01 pm Quote

i really loved 2k but ea really stepped it up the switch from animation to animation looks good ex. the dirk dunk in 08 it just looked retarted man ea might be better this year but ill need to se some 2k first much props to ea

  26. smokez4Dayz on July 23rd, 2008 6:18 pm Quote

I must agree with Dr. Logic. Too many years of over hyping. Alot of their new features are already in 2k and has for years. This year is no different, big name features, lots of video gameplay, lots of producer interviews and blogs, yada, yada, yada, you get the game into your system, and rebounds fall to the floor, and the pg a.i goes for 60, we’ll see this year…

why should it affect your dynasty? the only way that would be beneficial is if you only player your game in your dynasty at the same time the game was played in real life…and i know that i wouldn’t want to wait for the entire NBA season to finish for me to finish a season in my dynasty…the ability to upload rosters to start a dynasty from any date you choose is kind of cool…

actually they are offering to rate players higher and lower based on their real season performance instead of having an overrated ben wallace for an entire year on your roster…starting lineups are also continually rotated (especially if you are the CAVS) and this would also reflect a more realistic percentage of on the court time as well…

Video looks good, especially the Dirk dunk, Kobe hesitation dribble and pop-up and same with Carter’s, but is this what the A.I. will be doing? I noticed it was user controlled. I just got done reading the producers blog Pasta and they mentioned that they’ve addressed many issues from the community day event: passing, rebounding etc. Haven’t been this excited about a basketball game since the announcement of freestyle control.

  32. James on July 24th, 2008 10:17 am Quote

The thing about EA is they always say they’ll adress it but never really do… they did this for ncaa 09 what makes live so differenet? I’ve lost faith in EA sports games as a whole because every year they have problems that make the hardcore sports gamer not want to play the game then they come out with a patch months later. Yes, the game looks good but they always look good when they show you clips they want you to see… when NCAA 09 was about to come out did anyone see any clips of sideline animations being used when it wasnt necessary, or notice the AI never threw the ball deep? It happens every year thats why I rent the games for a $1 a day for about 2 days cause thats all the money EA will get out of me

  33. wade08 on July 24th, 2008 11:17 am Quote

James you know nothing about this years live. your just talking about past experiences. nobody really care about your opinion about live, we heard enough from you 2k crack adicts share your opinions elsewhere.

what do you mean wade08 people are always hating on 2k on a 2k related topic like oo 2k sucks which is such bs because it will not and these people want ea to be sooo good than cant except the fact that 2k is gonna win……..again

A nobody said live sucks (this year) we just saying that it ain’t ____ with 2K9 that’s all live at best is a side tittle if you want to play FIBA or Team Play or something like that

But it isn’t meant 2 be purchased over 2K if YOU are seriously looking to by the BEST B-Ball game on the market now if YOU kinda wack & can’t seem 2 get hang of 2k then you might need 2 “DUMB it DOWN” like dey told Lupe & pick up Live

yea I’m talking about past experiences… which is every single next gen live has sucked… the last good live game was on the ps2, and im not a 2k fanboy live looks nice but it always looks nice when they show you what they want to so go ahead and buy live and settle for an average game and try and make yourself feel better about purchasing it by hating on 2k and every other basketball game thats not live

  39. cabrillo24 on July 24th, 2008 1:47 pm Quote

2K basketball has been the best game on the next gen consoles; however, as I’ve stated in the past, both franchises have been bad on next gen deeply flawed. Like winning a beauty contest with nothing but ugly people in it. But anyway, I’ve been following the developer boards on EA’s websites and there is a lot that they are doing with regards to game play. I wish 2K would put out more information, because basically NBA Live 2009 is going to be a brand new game which is causing a lot of buzz.

listen 2k is better overall right now because it can make a good game on the 360 and ps2 ea is just getting it right and we should give them credit!?!?! thats crazy ea’s time is done its all about 2k and ive always loved ea until the 360

  42. cabrillo24 on July 24th, 2008 5:44 pm Quote

Pat, I’m sorry buddy but both Live and 2K have made horrible basketball games. They are both heavily flawed, both lacked many features. I’ll say that 2K has been the better of the two, but basketball standards have been low on next gen consoles.

  43. huddy187 on July 25th, 2008 1:05 am Quote

next gen basketball games have been average these past years. maybe this is the year fo basketball games

i bought 2k the last two years

  47. James on July 25th, 2008 8:07 am Quote

yea I did the same thing as pat… Ive bought live every year on the ps2 and still have most of them, but when I got a ps3 and got the “new” live it was horrible then downloaded the 2k demo and ended up purchasing 2k. live on the ps3 is more for people who are looking for a more arcade like basketball game, 2k has more realism so if im a 2k fanboy because I like realism and gameplay then I guess Im a fanboy

  48. sdot on July 25th, 2008 9:12 am Quote

damn wade why YOU wanna bring my name up huh?

is it cuz YOU know Live has been weak 4 so LONG seriously how did ya’ll even buy/play Live 07 I don’t get it & now ya’ll ALL back on the EA hype train well i’m NOT jumping on to I actually get my on hands on with the game

side note where ya’ll from cuz callin me a FANBOY is dat suppose 2 insult me ya’ll really don’t kno how soft/young ya’ll sound when ya’ll say that next time i’m at the club & sum1 gets me tight i’ll call him a FANBOY & REALLY make him mad

  49. pat on July 25th, 2008 9:40 am Quote

i love both games but since ea has dissapointed the last couple years i get 2k and its just ea didnt deliver like madden in 06 i think next gen was too much for them i mean the graphics looked great better than 2k for sure but i feel like they concentrated on graphics and not gameplay

Jarret, I highly doubt it as most those players are under contract with their respective teams. The OKC team should announce within the next few weeks their new team name. Should give them enough time to get a jersey in. If not, expect a patch to be released in the future.
