According to The Hollywood Reporter Jeremy Renner is close to signing on for The Avengers. Renner would play Hawkeye, a conflicted villain that eventually joins up with the Avengers team. He was rumored to be in consideration to take on Hawkeye last year but at the time it seemed to be more of an idea just thrown out there rather than it having any substance. Renner recently was nominated as Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his performance in The Hurt Locker and is considered one of the ho...

Back in January EA Sports president Peter Moore seemed excited about the possibility of implementing 3D in sports games. That early intrigue seems to have died off though after having witnessed prototypes in action. In an interview with MCV Moore displays skepticism about 3D and how it could work for the games. “We are looking at 3D but there are challenges,” said EA Sports president Peter Moore. “I’ve seen a number of our games running in 3D, and we’re learning that we can’t ta...

Yesterday concept images for Captain America leaked out and now similar ones for Thor showing how Chris Hemsworth will look in costume have appeared. By comparing them to the first official picture released about a month ago of Hemsworth as Thor they do appear to be legit. Thor is filming now and is slated to release on May 6th 2011. (more...)...

EA Sports has released a a series of bullet points going deeper into describing the right analog stick usage dubbed "Hands-On Control" and the addition of real-time physics in NBA Elite 11. In doing so they have broken down many of the different ways in which the stick will be used from dribbling, to shooting, to defensively. I've also added the first three screenshots released for the game to the gallery. (more...)...

Ain't It Cool News has revealed concept images of how Chris Evans will look as Captain America in the upcoming movie. Multiple sources have confirmed that the images are legit and have been used internally and this will be the costume worn in the film. The look achieves the desire to stay true enough to the source material while at the same time avoiding the potential for it to come across as cheesy. Captain America is set to start shooting later this month and is slated to release on July 22n...

CNBC has been able to confirm that Michael Jordan will be the cover athlete for NBA 2K11. The possibility that he would be on the cover was first reported as a rumor from ESPN last week. In addressing the news 2K Sports did not go into detail on how Jordan would be used in the game but instead said there would be "some really good surprises". “It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11,” Jordan said, in a statement. “I have no doubt that NBA 2K11 will be a big hit with game...

Last week the news broke that the NBA Live series was getting a name change to NBA Elite. Along with that would be the addition of real-time physics and a focus on analog controls. Today EA Sports made it all official. The new real-time physics system in NBA ELITE 11 allows each player on the court to move independently of one another, removing the two-man interactions that have long taken the user control out of basketball simulation videogames. In addition, a new skill...
  • Review: Splice

Splice is one of the most difficult movies I've ever attempted to review. Even now as I write this I feel largely conflicted and uncertain of any sort of final verdict other than having found it strangely entertaining. This is not a conventional film to say the least and that I really liked about it. However in the process it takes some turns which are very uncomfortable for the audience. While it is being marketed along the lines of a horror movie I wouldn't describe it as such. It is more of...
  • New Resident Evil: Afterlife Photos

Typically I wouldn't find much interest in a PR release of movie stills however in this case the new ones that come from Resident Evil: Afterlife are a little more compelling. They feature a new character from the games  making a debut in the movie series. Chris Redfield, one of the main protagonists from the Resident Evil games, will be played by Wentworth Miller (Prison Break). Resident Evil: Afterlife represents the fourth entry in the franchise after the original Resident Evil (2002),...
