At Gamescom yesterday Sony announced some details on the PlayStation 4 v2.00 console update due out this fall. One new feature will be Share Play, which allows someone who owns a game to invite a friend to play along with them even if that friend doesn't own the game. The best way to think about Share Play is like a “virtual couch”. PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game—even when they don’t own a copy of it. W...

New trailers for NHL 15 and FIFA 15 have come out of Gamescom coinciding with the Electronic Arts press conference and the first day of the event. With less than four weeks to go EA has yet to show gameplay or clarify the feature set even with rumors swirling that EASHL and GM Connected may not have made the transition to the Xbox One and PS4. That didn't change at the press conference but some other news was made. There will be a demo for NHL 15 and that is set to release on Tuesd...

Earlier this month HB Studios announced a likely date of the digital-only release of The Golf Club with hopes it could be out earlier. That has turned out to be the case on one of the consoles. The Golf Club will release Tuesday, August 19 on Xbox One. That date will also see the game leave "Early Access" for full PC release on Steam. The PlayStation 4 version is said to launch "later this month" so that one may land on the previously expected August 26 date. The price of The Golf Club ...

    by
    Posted August 12th, 2014 at 12:15 pm 17 Comments »
EA Sports made it official yesterday that there would be no demo for Madden NFL 15. Poor timing, that coincided with the EA Access subscription service moving out of beta and becoming available to all on Xbox One, compounded the frustration which was expressed by many through social media, news sites, and forums. I was joined by Rich Grisham and T.J. Lauerman to discuss the development on a special edition of the Press Row Hangout. What the lack of a demo means for Madden 15, for the futu...
  • Concern Grows Over Possible EASHL Omission from NHL 15 on Xbox One and PS4

Unlike many other sports titles this year NHL 15 will be releasing on the Xbox One and PS4 will extra development time behind it. That has resulted in somewhat higher expectations, and while media impressions have generally been positive EA Sports has actively hidden gameplay and been vague about the feature set. Only one brief video exists from E3 and the features list released only highlights new additions and not what will carry over. It's far from unusual that every feature being car...

With timing that will raise even more eyebrows, Electronic Arts has announced that the EA Access program is now rolling out wide to everyone on the Xbox One. It had been in beta for dashboard preview participants since the end of July. EA Access is a subscription service for $30 a year or $5 a month that offers a library of older games to play, 10% off digital purchases, and the ability to play games in the days leading up to their release for a limited stretch of time. It's represents a ...

EA Sports today finally addressed the topic of an upcoming demo for Madden NFL 15 by telling Polygon there will be no demo at all. This is another in a line of traditional promotional steps that the company has deviated from with Madden 15 but certainly the one that will stand out above them all.  (more…)...
