It should come as no surprise to anyone that another animated movie was the highest selling DVD last week. Disney's Up, knocked G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra from the top spot. Katherine Heigl's romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth, was the most rented DVD last week. Below is the list of DVD sales and rentals for the week ending November 15, 2009: Rentrak Top 10 Selling DVDs: 1 Up ( Disney) 2 G.I. A little over a week ago, Mania.com reported from "a source" that Rachel McAdams would be cast in Spiderman 4. Today we find out this is not the case, as it was all a rumor. Entertainment Weekly recently spoke with McAdams, who denied the rumors that she was in Spider-Man 4. That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” the actress, who will next be seen in the Dec. 25 action-adventure tentpole Sherlock Holmes, tells EW. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me an...

There are a handful of good movies hitting stores this week. Christmas has come early for Trekkies with the release of Star Trek. J.J. Abrams rendition of the Sci-Fi classic was well received and scored high in reviews. Fans of Sacha Baron Cohen can look forward to Bruno releasing this week. But the movie I'm most looking forward to is the Blu-ray release of Fight Club. It's hard to believe it's already been ten years since the movie first released in theaters. There are some movies that sho...

    Posted November 16th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FX has secured the television rights to 2012 and Zombieland. Even though FX has premiered other blockbusters in the past, this is still pretty significant news considering how well 2012 did this past weekend. Appropriately, the Sony movie will make its debut on the basic cable network in the beginning of 2012. In addition to "2012," FX has acquired another Sony film that opened at No. 1 this fall, the horror comedy "Zombieland," which will be availabl...

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra topped all sold and rented DVDs last week. I'm somewhat surprised it beat Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, as I thought the animated film would hold the top spot for more than a week. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen kept it's spot as the third highest selling movie last week. Below is the list of DVD sales and rentals for the week ending November 7, 2009: Rentrak Top 10 Selling DVDs: 1 G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (Paramount) 2 Ice Age: Dawn of the D...

  • New on DVD: Week of November 10

There are a handful of decent Blu-ray movies releasing this week. I thought The Ugly Truth was a pretty good movie. I'm not a big fan of Katherine Heigl but Gerard Butler did a great job in the movie. It was quite a change from seeing him play King Leonidas in 300. I thought Butler's sense of humor in the film is what I enjoyed most. Another movie I'm sure people will look forward to is Disney-Pixar's Up. Last week's DVD sales continue to prove that people love animated movies, and Up should...

Mania.com is reporting Sam Raimi and the crew have started casting for Spider-Man 4. Sources have revealed actress Rachel McAdams has met with the producers for the role of Felicia Hardy aka 'The Black Cat'. Our sources tell us that the Black Cat's story fits well with Raimi's Spider-Man formula, which always finds the villains troubling not only the costumed hero, but also becoming entangled in Peter Parker's personal life as well. Fans recall that when Spidey first encounters the Black...

    by Fred
    Posted November 8th, 2009 at 9:41 am
Ain't It Cool News sat down with The Wolfman director Joe Johnston to discuss the film. The interview changes direction when Johnston mentions the possibility of a Jurassic Park 4, since he directed the third film in the franchise. There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it's nothing like the first three," Johnston told the site, "It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would w...
