MLB 12: The Show won out in the player face battle against MLB 2K12 by a greater margin than originally anticipated. Though once again each game had their share of faces that turned out better than the opposition 2K12 had far more that were missed on in and usually in embarrassing fashion. Over 41,000 total votes were cast and the final tally comes in at 21-6 in favor of The Show. That represents a significant percentage increase over 2011 (14-6) and 2010 (11-8-1). Continue on for a look at...

One of the most popular features every year is the player face comparison between competing titles and MLB 12: The Show vs MLB 2K12 presents the only real competition until the new set of NBA releases arrive in the fall. The last two years have seen The Show win out in player faces with a 14-6 margin in 2011 and a slimmer 11-8-1 record in 2010. For 2012 the set of faces has been expanded to 27 and after looking at the shots the outcome could really be in question this time around. Here is...

2K Sports never made an effort to convince consumers that MLB 2K12 would represent a huge advancement for the struggling series - in fact one of their top five new features for the game was supposedly the soundtrack. Instead the company laid claim that problems of the past would be addressed and authenticity improved dramatically. Unfortunately they failed to deliver in all respects. Continue on for the Hits and Misses review of MLB 2K12.  (more…)...
  • MLB 2K12 Patch Won’t Arrive Before May

While 2K Sports is collecting feedback for an upcoming patch of MLB 2K12, which undoubtedly has a multitude of issues to consider, the company has publicly stated not to expect it to come until at least May. The explanation behind that comes down to 2K not wanting to alter the game during the month in which the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge takes place. That makes sense from the standpoint that changing 2K12 in any way could disrupt players who have tried to get handle on the game pr...

Titles that end a series, or that never receive a warranted follow-up, are often looked back upon fondly. 2K Sports has several of those in their past catalog alone. MLB 2K12 will not be joining them in high-regard. What 2K Sports has produced is a game that makes it apparent the end is near and it's clear that the company has no further plans for baseball considering how little effort was put forward. Given that the demo was pretty much the only way to get a look at MLB 2K12 before release I thought it important to capture some gameplay videos for anyone with some interest in the product to check out and evaluate. This series of videos includes Pirates @ Marlins, Blue Jays @ Red Sox, Yankees @ Mariners, and Rays @ Tigers. I'll have initial impressions tomorrow but so far MLB 2K12 has been stunningly poor - I'm having trouble finding many positives to discuss with any apparent improveme...
