SCEA today released the regular weekly roster update for MLB 14: The Show and this one stands out in magnitude due to the recent passing of the trade deadline. All the deals made last week are reflected in the new update. The A's and Tigers bolster their already strong rotations by acquiring Jon Lester and David Price respectively. Yoenis Cespedes moves to the Red Sox, Austin Jackson to the Mariners, and John Lackey to the Cardinals. The injury to Cliff Lee is also handled in this update....
  • Details on Patch Released for MLB 14: The Show on PS4 and PS3

SCEA today released the first patch for the PlayStation 4 version of MLB 14: The Show with the fixes also being applied to the PS3 version which is now on its second. It's a significant update that would appear to address many of the issues people have had with the game since its release in early May (PS4) and the beginning of April (PS3). Areas impacted by the patch include online play (will have to sufficiently evaluate to determine effectiveness), the misaligned strike zone specific to...
  • MLB 14: The Show All-Star Rosters Updated

This week's roster update for MLB 14: The Show included the players for the All-Star Game which takes place this evening. The participants for the game were selected over a week ago but the starting pitchers and batting order were unveiled just yesterday. Unfortunately due to the timing that meant SCEA made a lot of guesses and the result are a number of inaccuracies. More disappointing (as the starting pitcher and batting order can be changed) is that players who have been added to the r...

For the first time since release in early May, MLB 14: The Show on PlayStation 4 can be had at a significantly reduced price. Amazon currently has the game for $40 matching an in-store deal currently available from Best Buy. In many cases an offering like this one is for a limited quantity and goes fast however given it's a price match it may be available for the entire week. MLB 14: The Show on PS4 has been lauded for its gameplay, visual enhancements, and depth of offline content but s...

The release of the PlayStation 4 and the death of competition was the shot in the arm MLB: The Show needed to achieve sales growth following three straight years stagnation and declines. Though Sony has not released any actual numbers they've cited a 40% increase over the highest selling year for the series when looking at the first week on the market.  (more…)...

  • MLB 14: The Show – PS4 Hits and Misses

MLB 14: The Show on the PlayStation 3 didn't end up being the complete product that was MLB 13. Not surprisingly the game received less than the typical publicity at the time since many were waiting on the PS4 version for this year with higher hopes considering the capabilities of the new system. While it has retained all the same features, promises were really never made that it would do anything more than improve on the graphics of the earlier version. In that regard the game has succe...

For whatever reason MLB: The Show has always had a black outline around the screen until adjusted in the system settings. This was the case on the PS3 as veterans of the series surely remember and now it is on the PS4 as well with MLB 14: The Show. Nothing is being asked more since release of the game than how to remove the black border. Here's how to do it.
