Released early this morning the latest roster for MLB The Show 16 features an update to the All-Star Game rosters and some major ratings movement - most of which is for players headed upwards - along with big new Flashback card additions for Diamond Dynasty mode. In moving up 2 points to 98 Jose Altuve now stands alone as the third highest rated player in the game trailing only Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout. He's hitting .346 this year (.420 in June) with 14 HR and 49 RBI. Changes inc...
  • First Deal on MLB The Show 16

Unlike most sports video games, which often see retailers offering deals on them within weeks following their respective releases, MLB The Show tends to go months before any appear. Now with over three months having passed since it came out the first noteworthy deal for the PlayStation 4 version of the game can be found. Amazon has MLB The Show 16 on PS4 right now for $40 while the PS3 version has also been dropped and can currently be had for $30. The Show this year has gone through i...
  • MLB The Show 16 account bannings have been reversed but no apology offered
    Posted July 2nd, 2016 at 8:30 am 13 Comments »
Early in the week a number of very active players in MLB The Show 16's Diamond Dynasty mode had their accounts banned preventing them from accessing any online features. Something however was clearly amiss with the situation and that became even more apparent as the days stretched on. Late last night a statement was released with the big news being that Sony San Diego went "deeper into the telemetry and are reactivating select accounts." The development comes after a tumultuous few days...
  • Press Row Podcast: Cash-Fueled Controversies

Two major controversies arose this week and they have raised questions regarding the rights of consumers who purchase video games and spend money on digital items within them. With MLB The Show 16, developer Sony San Diego banned a relatively large number of player accounts but some people may have found themselves banished unjustly. In FIFA the integrity of Ultimate Team mode has been brought into question, with high-value player cards not having played up to the level at which they wer...
  • MLB The Show 16 roster update details for week 12
    Posted July 1st, 2016 at 6:00 am 3 Comments »
In following an update that included some massive shifts in ratings this week's changes in MLB The Show 16 don't come across quite as impactful. No players were bumped to reach the Gold or Diamond tiers, and only one player fell out of the latter and into the former.  (more…)...
  • Concerns over recent MLB The Show 16 account bannings being investigated
    Posted June 30th, 2016 at 8:30 am 9 Comments »
On Monday a fairly large number of accounts were banned in MLB The Show 16. Typically wiping out cheaters would be a good thing, creating a level playing field for those who are competing within the rules - but the situation wasn't nearly as simple at that. It quickly became apparent that something might be amiss with some people possibly being unjustifiably banned. After initially saying they would be not be reevaluating anyone's status, and being abrasive in their responses to any an...
  • Wave of MLB The Show 16 bannings has created more questions than answers
    Posted June 28th, 2016 at 8:30 am 24 Comments »
Just a few days ago Sony San Diego reiterated a policy that has always been effect for account suspensions and bans relating to MLB The Show 16. This of course is all completely reasonable. Basically every online video game has a similar TOS in place and it's just a matter of how violations are ultimately acted upon. Yesterday though a mass banning apparently took place as users took to social media and forums to express frustration and seek answers. They're finding plenty of the former...
  • MLB The Show 16’s roster update for week 11 has massive ratings changes and additions
    Posted June 24th, 2016 at 5:30 am 1 Comment »
The latest roster update for MLB The Show 16 looks to be a course correction for a number of players who have disappointed this season or are far exceeding expectations. There are also some new cards for Diamond Dynasty that will be among the most desired in the mode. Giancarlo Stanton has plummeted going down 6 points to 87 Overall. What had been an excessively overdue need for a change to his ratings, which hadn't been touched at all this season, was pointed out last week. It's a crushi...
