  • Your Thoughts on MLB 15: The Show After Two Weeks of Release
    Posted April 15th, 2015 at 12:00 pm 21 Comments »
Those who picked up MLB 15: The Show at or around release have now had plenty of time to settle in with the game and form opinions. For the most part the game is being received well by consumers and to an extent reviewers (check out my review here) however its Metacritic score is the lowest for the series since MLB 07 (the first one on PS3) which suggests something more is being desired from the product than it is delivering. Vote in the poll and include any thoughts in the comments. Has...
  • Online-Specific Issues Wrecking Otherwise Fun MLB 15: The Show Ranked and Diamond Dynasty Games
    Posted April 14th, 2015 at 11:30 am 7 Comments »
Though online play performance is markedly better in MLB 15: The Show than previous years of the series its unreliable nature has still been cited in early days as a big problem. That remains the case but now a couple bugs and exploits have been identified that are making games against random opponents miserable to play. (more…)...
  • MLB 15: The Show Week One Roster Update
Posted April 13th, 2015 at 6:00 pm No Comments »
The first in-season roster update for MLB 15: The Show arrived today. It represents the first opportunity for SCEA to add players to the game who made their Major League debuts over the course of the season's opening week. Among the players added in the update are White Sox 2B Micah Johnson, Pirates SS Jung-ho Kang, Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis, Blue Jays RP Miguel Castro, Mariners RP Tyler Olson, and Reds SP Raisel Iglesias. The update also executes the trade that sent Craig Kimbrel and Me...
  • Checking in on The Show Live Mode in MLB 15: The Show
    Posted April 13th, 2015 at 11:30 am 4 Comments »
The Show Live in MLB 15 is not a new mode - it was introduced in MLB 13 - but it's something that changes by the day. The concept is to offer up the current day's slate of games (and those from earlier in the season) to play utilizing accurate lineups. There are also meant to be lines from the announcers during the games referencing their place in the season. The mode has worked fairly well in the past outside of a few quirks and inaccuracies and that's the case again this year. I moni...
  • Press Row Podcast – MLB 15: The Show Review Roundtable
Posted April 10th, 2015 at 4:15 pm No Comments »
This week's Press Row Podcast features expansive panel discussion on MLB 15: The Show with the game having been out for over a week. This is one of the rare shows I'm absent from, but for my thoughts on the game don't miss the Hits & Misses Review and the podcast from last week which included both live impression hangouts. The new podcast is a great listen to get additional perspectives on all aspects of MLB 15 and the game as a whole. Check out the podcast through iTunes for iOS an...
  • Looking Ahead to MLB 15 Roster Updates
    Posted April 8th, 2015 at 8:00 pm 3 Comments »
New roster updates are released by SCEA for The Show every Monday over the course of the season. With MLB 15: The Show the roster update to prepare for the new season coincided with the release of the game and there hasn't been one since given the proximity to Opening Day. The first in-season update is expected on April 13 and that will be an important one. It's the first opportunity to add any players who made their Major League debuts. As an annual reminder, players who have not made...
  • MLB 15: The Show – Hits and Misses Review
    Posted April 7th, 2015 at 1:30 pm 23 Comments »
MLB 15: The Show might very well be the most complete product in the series' history. Areas of strength have been improved upon considerably but those that have been deficient in the past for the most part continue to be so. It's one of the few sports games that can be assessed fairly easily and defined by its clear positives and negatives. That makes it a game that can be either purchased, or passed on, with confidence based on an individual's interests. Check out the full review of MLB 15:...
  • How The Legends Are Rated and Utilized in MLB 15: The Show
    Posted April 4th, 2015 at 1:00 pm 6 Comments »
Though the addition of "legends" didn't really resonate with the community for MLB 15: The Show their presence in the game is at the very least worth exploring. The 30 players, one representing each franchise, are available for use in Diamond Dynasty and Franchise modes.  (more…)...
