MLB 14: The Show arrived last week but the usual roster update that accompanies sports games for release was absent. That left consumers waiting yet another week for the latest rosters and having to consider whether to delay starting up a Franchise or Road to the Show or getting stuck for the entirety of their careers with the base six week old rosters. SCEA has now released the first update and that includes players who made their MLB debuts early this season. The biggest name is Masahir...
  • RBI Baseball 14 Releasing This Week for $20 on Last-Gen Consoles and $5 Mobile

    Posted April 8th, 2014 at 10:00 am 10 Comments ╗
RBI Baseball 14 will release as a digital download on PSN for PS3 and XBLA for Xbox 360 on Wednesday. Xbox One, PS4, and Android versions are expected to arrive in May. MLB Advanced Media has treated RBI 14 very much like they would any mobile game by not offering much in the way of details or media prior to release and the lack of it resulted in the complete dissipation of the hype from when it was initially announced in January. As far as the price goes the Xbox 360 and PS3 digital down...

  • Smart Design Decisions Overshadowed by Reliability Concerns in Early MLB 14: The Show Online Franchise Mode Testing
    by

While SCEA revealed some of the framework to Online Franchise for MLB 14: The Show the company never explained the actual logistics of the mode. Baseball inherently presents challenges like the length of the season and time requirement to play games which necessitates chunks of them being open on the schedule for example - but then how are rotations, injuries, and fatigue handled when not playing games in any specific order? Server issues, the need to actually play some of the games to de...
  • Early Assessments of Quick Counts and Player Lock in MLB 14: The Show

SCEA made two time-saving features the most marketed additions for MLB 14: The Show. There is no doubt that the length of time it takes to play games has limited baseball's potential video game consumer base and even hampered the ability for the most dedicated fans to play to the extent they would like. Of the two options developed for MLB 14 at least one is proving to be a worthwhile option to consider.┬á (more…)...
  • First Roster Update for MLB 14: The Show Won’t Be Out Until April 8
    by
    Posted April 1st, 2014 at 9:30 am 6 Comments ╗
MLB 14: The Show released on PS3 and Vita today but the wait will continue one week until new rosters are provided. For the time being the rosters included in the game do not represent any transactions that took place after mid-February. Unfortunately that means consumers may feel the need to wait until April 8 before starting up Franchise, Road to the Show, or Season mode. The first roster update will include signings, player movement, and injuries that have occurred since mid-February ...

To coincide with the release of MLB 14: The Show on PS3 and Vita tomorrow SCEA has pushed out a new video that goes over 30 features that might not be known about the game. Many of them will be familiar to those who have followed information on this year's edition but there are others which haven't received the same level of attention mixed in. Keep in mind that all of these features - even though most of the footage used is PS3 - will apply to the PS4 version which is now five weeks away fr...

  • MLB 14: The Show PS3 Gameplay Video Featuring Quick Counts
    by
    Posted March 27th, 2014 at 10:15 am 12 Comments ╗
Earlier this week the top rated players for MLB 14: The Show were revealed thanks to a consumer with hands on an early PS3 copy. Now the first extended gameplay can be watched and it utilizes the optional new Quick Counts feature that generates them rather than starting with a fresh slate. In theory that will lead to more realistic walk and strikeout numbers and at the same time reduce the length of time it takes to play games. The video features Cardinals at Red Sox for a single inning t...
