MLB Front Office Manager Cover and Feature List
The cover art for MLB Front Office Manager is now out as well as the official feature list. As to the features for the most part they have been discussed through the various interviews and previews out so far and the Online Fantasy Leagues remain especially intriguing. While I was expecting to see Billy Beane incorporated into the cover instead they went the direction of a silhouette, with the implication of course being that you are now the GM.

MLB 2K9 To Have Revamped Pitching System
When Tim Lincecum was announced as the cover athlete for MLB 2K9 no details on what to expect from the game were provided. Up to now all that has been known is the cover athlete and about the move to Visual Concepts. Jon Robinson with ESPN has an interview with Lincecum that also includes mention of how 2K9 is aiming to simplify the pitching controls.
Last year, MLB 2K8 confused gamers with a pitching system casual fans saw as overly complex. MLB 2K9 changes all that as the developers of th...
09 Baseball Titles Need to Improve Online Play
As I covered extensively last year neither MLB 2K8 nor MLB 08: The Show provided a sufficient online experience. 2K8 was arguably the worst online sports title ever while The Show was very inconsistent in its own right. My full online report on both games can be found here along with an update a week later here.
While it was the performance that primarily dragged them down last year both titles also lacked some basic options that would've been beneficial. SCEA does deserve credit for the ...
MLB Front Office Manager Preview
Gamespot has posted up the latest preview of MLB Front Office Manager. As we've now hit what is generally the dead spot in the sports gaming year it is nice to have a game to look forward to that splits the difference between now and when the baseball titles are released in the first week of March. In the past January has generally offered an arcade style game such as NBA Street or NFL Tour.
Based on the depth of statistics, you can probably guess the level of off-the field depth in the FOM...
MLB 2K9 Cover Goes to Tim Lincecum
Only hours after posting up the top candidates for the baseball game covers 2K Sports revealed their selection and cover art. It is Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants. With an 18-5 record and 2.62 ERA he was dominant on a poor team. He was selected to the All-Star team and was likely to be the starter but missed the game due to an illness. Earlier today he was announced as the NL Cy Young Award winner.
I left Lincecum out of my preview thinking he wasn't recognizable enough, especia...
MLB Cover Candidates for 09
Last year the cover athletes for the baseball titles were announced by 2K Sports and SCEA in early December. In all likelihood the decisions on who will make the covers of MLB 2K9 and MLB 09: The Show have already been made and if not then the process is currently nearing finalization. The players who will receive the covers will likely be revealed next month.
So lets take a look at who the most likely candidates are. Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments on who you would most ...
MLB Front Office Manager Price Revealed
One of the frequent comments when discussing 2K Sports' MLB Front Office Manager has been that interest would be had only at a lower price point than the standard $60 game. There is legitimate concern as to whether a game of this nature can succeed on the consoles, especially after the relatively low sales and interest that NFL Head Coach was able to capture. Baseball fans though are more likely to be attracted to a game of this nature than football fans were to Head Coach.
The question a...
