Cover Athlete for MLB 2K12 Will Be Revealed on Thursday
2K Sports today announced that the cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K12 will be made official at the 2011 Players Choice Awards on Thursday evening. The program will air on MLB Network for an hour beginning at 5PT/8ET. This is widely expected to be the final year for the MLB 2K franchise as the third party exclusive contract will expire at the end of 2012. NCAA Football 12 Tops July Sales Charts
There were several notable developments that came with the release of NPD's official sales numbers for July. Overall it was the weakest performance for video game sales since 2006 and NCAA Football 12 easily took first place. It was already known the game was seeing increased sales over the prior year - 17% for the first two weeks - and it ended up finishing 15% higher when comparing respective first month numbers. (more...)...

First MLB Bobblehead Pros DLC Released
Earlier this week I laid out thoughts on MLB Bobblehead Pros in the 'Hits and Misses' review where the mention was made of plans for upcoming DLC packs. The first one of those is now available on the Xbox 360 and goes by the name 'MLB Bobblehead Stars' for 400 MS points ($5). The DLC adds in this year's All Star teams and a Home Run Derby mode. MLB Bobblehead Pros: Hits and Misses
MLB Bobblehead Pros arrived on the Xbox Live Marketplace last week (PSN release upcoming) for $10. Made by Konami, the game basically takes the well regarded Power Pros series and re-skins the player models as 'bobbleheads' for the HD consoles. As I continue to put time in with MLB Bobblehead Pros (which released today on XBLA) to form full impressions here are a couple gameplay videos in the meantime. Sony Introducing Online Pass
Sony today confirmed the introduction of their own 'Online Pass' program which appears to be dubbed the 'PSN Pass'. Starting with Resistance 3 in September SCEA's titles will restrict access to online functionality by inserting a one-time use code in copies of their games. MLB Bobblehead Pros Now Available
Arriving for the Xbox 360 today is MLB Bobblehead Pros which brings a new character look to the former MLB Power Pros series. As with all XBLA games a free trial can be played before making a purchase decision and in this case that involves a single game of Phillies vs Giants. Those who had the patience to wait over two months for 2K Sports to release a patch for MLB 2K11 that would address many issues including the broken fatigue in franchise mode are now faced with another problem. 2K Sports today announced the winner of the MLB 2K11 $1 Million Perfect Game Contest. Brian Kingrey of Hammond, Louisiana walks away with the prize after pitching the first verified perfect game following the opening of the contest on April 1st. After a wait of over ten weeks 2K Sports has finally delivered a patch for MLB 2K11. Plagued since release by numerous bugs and severe AI issues many of the fixes are intended to address those problems.
